Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home in nature — including real toilets, showers, and kitchen.
Set right off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 324.8, among the breathtaking Blue Ridge and Black Mountains and nestled in the Pisgah National Forest, Spacious Skies Bear Den is your mountain adventure destination! While most of our sites are full hook-up, we have water/electric spots for a more rustic camping experience or for our tent campers. We also offer cabins in an array of sizes and with varied amenities, ensuring we have the perfect spot that meets each family or group’s needs. When you arrive at your site or cabin, breathe in the serene beauty of the Pisgah National Forest, of which Spacious Skies Bear Den is a part. Leave your stress behind as you explore 13 miles of wooded hiking trails, some leading to waterfalls on the park grounds. Playgrounds, a rec hall, arcade, basketball, jumping pillow, and a swimming lake with a separate fishing area will keep campers of all ages occupied. A camp store stocked with necessities and treats alike, bathhouses, and laundry on-site all bring the comforts of home to your campsite.

Terrible communication
My stay was canceled over the phone by the company that runs the campsite and I was told I will get a full refund due to them having to cancel because of the road being blocked after the hurricane. I never received my money back and when I called again they said I have go through the Hipcamp app and request my money back. When I did that I got an email from the host saying my request was denied!!! I don’t get why whoever runs the Hipcamp account has no knowledge of what is going on at the camp and didn’t cancel the trip through the app to begin with! I still don’t have my money back!!

GREAT Location
We loved our stay at SSBD! It’s right off of the blue ridge pkwy and a very short drive to some of our favorite hikes in the Linville Gorge. The campground is very family friendly and only about 7 miles from a Walmart Supercenter, if you need anything at all. This was our second stay in one of their rustic cabins and we will be back!!

This was our second trip to Bear Den, we went last year for the first time [Imported from Google Reviews]
This was our second trip to Bear Den, we went last year for the first time, and had such a great time we had to go back again this year. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, especially if you have kids. The bathrooms are clean and tidy! They have many different options for budget and comfort. We are going back every year from now on!

Beautiful camping cabins, wonderful staff, and clean restrooms! [Imported from Google Reviews]
Beautiful camping cabins, wonderful staff, and clean restrooms! They have arcade games in a play area but these are typically out of order or take the money. That's ok, you're here to enjoy the gorgeous scenery! My second year visiting this campsite and will definitely return!
