Welcome to Fruit of the Coop! This tranquil 7-acre property is a working farm located just outside of Sioux Falls, in the watershed of the Big Sioux River. Our farm features rolling hills and groves of cottonwood and oak trees, replete with wild turkeys, deer and coyotes. Take advantage of the short walking trail, beautiful sunrises, and the gorgeous views from the fire pit. We operate a farming business on the property, contributing to our resilient local food system. Fruit of the Coop sells pasture-raised eggs to restaurants and retail, in addition to hosting events and field trips. We also offer a backyard chicken consulting business, which includes teaching classes, private consulting, and organic livestock feed distribution. The property is on a dirt road in a development of homes, mostly on 1-2 acre parcels, located between the town of Brandon and the city of Sioux Falls. You are welcome to walk the neighborhood. Guests have access to 2 marked parking spaces on the right side of the front, paved driveway. All guests have access to the grounds. Please do not enter the farm house or any buildings on the property. You are welcome to appreciate the short, self-guided hiking trail on the farm. The trailhead can be found in the SE corner of the back yard, where the pasture fence meets the treeline. Follow the blue trail markers to the Adirondack chairs, where you can sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy the view. Please respect our neighbor's property and do not hike beyond the No Trespassing sign marked with a pink ribbon. You will come across chickens, cats, turkeys, horses and dogs while on your stay. Please treat them with respect and do not chase or feed any of the animals. The horses enjoy being petted from across the fence, but please do not enter into the horse corral or pasture. Our Bernese Mountain Dog, Toby, and our Sheepadoodle, Ralphie Rose, roam freely on the property, as do our cats. Please do not allow any of the animals inside your tent. Even though we love animals of all kinds, we cannot allow guests to bring pets of their own. There are a number of nearby places to hike, including Palisades State Park, Beaver Creek State Nature Area and Good Earth State Park. In addition, the Big Sioux Recreation Area is a short 10-15 minute walk from the property and has multiple hiking trails, including an archery trail. The property is 15 minutes from downtown Sioux Falls, where you will find award-winning restaurants, shopping and live music. Pitch your tent inside our 50'x110' grass outdoor horse riding ring, which is surrounded by small groves of trees and bushes. The 80-acre property directly to the South and the 11-acre property to the West provide plenty of privacy. This site is a 2 minute walk from the main farmhouse and to the firepit, which is located in the back yard (firewood provided). Enjoy an outdoor fire with a full view of the moonrise, surrounded by barns housing chickens and horses. Please note that this is a primitive camping site so please come prepared with food, water, sleeping gear, and first aid supplies. Picnic table, trash can and 2 camping chairs provided at the tent site. Please check out our extras, such as farm fresh eggs and weekly yoga classes.

We loved staying at Stephanie’s! The site is close to the house but very private and having access to the fire pit was a huge plus. The cats were very friendly :)

I loved the location. I got to sit in the huge area watching the sun go down and dozens of lightening bugs come out. I was visited by deer and got to watch bats out hunting. You'd better have a plan for restroom needs, but I wouldn't call that a complaint. I recommend this place highly.

Very nice camping spot! Was on a roadtrip and after a long day, it was nice to have a quiet and peaceful evening inside the horse ring. Easy walk down and very private! Would definitely recommend.
