Lake Huron Wooded Retreat 🚗🏕️🏖️

1 site · RV, Tent1 acre · Au Gres, MI
Our one-acre property offers a spacious front area with ample room to accommodate an SUV and a few tents.. The rear of the property is entirely wooded, featuring a quaint walking path that invites you to explore the serene landscape. Pop-up campers can fit in the space, but it is tight and not recommended. Just a short 4-minute stroll down our secluded street leads to public access to Lake Huron. Here, you'll find a largely undiscovered public beach, its seclusion due to the unique location making it an ideal spot for quiet relaxation by sandy shores. For those looking to enjoy local culture and dining, we are conveniently situated approximately 10 minutes from both Tawas City and Au Gres, each offering an array of charming shops and restaurants. This setting perfectly blends accessibility with a retreat into nature, providing a peaceful haven where you can watch the sunset over Lake Huron then return to the woods for an evening of solitude.

Kozy Kabin

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Hillman, MI
The Kozy Kabin is located in the woods of northern Michigan just a quarter mile away from the ORV trailhead. Surrounded by 1,000s of acres of state land just across the street, this is the perfect location for your outdoor getaway! There are dozens of amazing lakes nearby, too! Don't forget your ORVs, hunting gear, fishing poles, snowmobiles, boats, jet skis, kayaks, golf clubs, & the dogs! There is no shortage of outdoor activities to do when you're staying at the Kozy Kabin! You'll have full access to the entire Kozy Kabin, minus the utility closet in the bathroom. If for any reason you need to access the electric panel in there, we are only 10 minutes away to come unlock it. The shed in the backyard does have a lock on it, and the key is hanging on the coat hook for use. There are 1,000s of acres of state land directly across the street, great for hunting & exploring. The ORV trailhead is at the end of the street with some of the best trails for ATV's, dirt bikes, UTV's and snowmobiles. You can ride directly from the Kozy Kabin to the trails. There should be plenty of room to park your truck/trailer and additional cars in the driveway as well. Please do not ride in the yard, keep it on the trails. If there is any sign of riding in the yard, there will be an additional charge to your stay to repair the lawn. Other things to note: We do not currently have WiFi at the Kozy Kabin, but you are able to hook up the TV to a hotspot to use the smart TV/roku features. Most cell providers get good service here. There is no smoking or vaping inside of the Kozy Kabin, but you are welcome to smoke outside. Please do not dispose of cigarette butts on the ground. If there are any signs of smoking inside there will be an additional cleaning charge to your stay. Dogs are always welcome, but please clean up after them. There is a designated poop shovel in or near the shed. Please do not leave any land mines in the yard, but the woods is fine!

O Me, O Mio

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Mio, MI
A rustic, permalog style cabin that is suited to accommodate up to nine. This is a cabin to help disconnect from the hustle and bustle of our chaotic lives. There is limited cell signal, no internet and no local or cable channels. The cabin is pet friendly, as I believe our pets are an extension of our families and should get to vacation with everyone rather than boarded (dogs only are allowed). Primary source of heat is a propane wall furnace. There is an electric fireplace in the living room. In the summer there is a window AC unit at the cabin and a fan for the loft (it does get hot up there). The cabin is very close (1/4 mile) to the AuSable River where you can easily launch boats, canoes and more. The ORV trail head is just a 1/4 mile down the road. This is also the perfect cabin for hunting, fishing, hiking and trail riding. Be sure to keep an eye out for an eagle or two. Also had deer tracks in the yard.

Blue Heron Homestead

2 sites · Lodging1 acre · Au Gres, MI
Spend an enchanting evening on the shores of the Saginaw Bay. We are located in the North Bay- the northern end of the Saginaw Bay in a secluded coastal marsh. Enjoy some of the best views of stars in the Lower Peninsula, or roast marshmallows around a bonfire while the sound of frogs singing lulls you to sleep. Wake up to the sounds of blue herons and snowy egrets coasting over the bay as the sun rises in the morning and enjoy the biodiversity of plants and birds that call this part of Lake Huron home. Watch eagles and kingfishers fish as you kayak the marsh or just lounge in hammocks and enjoy the tranquility of this region. Activities: Kayaking- bring your own kayak or use one of ours. The bay is very shallow here and an ideal spot for a leisurely paddle. Take a tour by kayak of the maze of marsh, or kayak out to the tip of Point Au Gres. Fishing-Perch, Walleye , catfish, bluegill, sunfish, pike and bass are common in the North Bay. Need fishing gear or a license? Stop to Norm's Sporting Goods at the traffic light in Au Gres for a local experience. Birdwatching- This spot is truly a birdwatcher's paradise. In the summer we see abundant herons, egrets, kingfishers, swans, grebes, and a myriad of ducks on a daily basis. During migration seasons the bird action is endless. Swimming- although the marshy coastline here is not ideal for swimming you can easily kayak out to a sandbar or jump in, or just down the road is a public county park with a sandy beach. Visit the Northeast Region! Au Gres has few amenities or restaurants, but 20 minutes north Tawas has ample public beaches, dozens of bars and restaurants, a Walmart and other provisions you may want. The Huron National forest outiside of Tawas also has many great hiking trails, ORV trails and more.

Overview

About

Come get some sweet lovin’ from mother nature and by sweet lovin’ we mean the sexiest damn lakefront views right from your tent. They say looks aren’t everything, but seeing Lake Huron aglow in the sparkling sun the moment you wake up sure does soften any reservations you may have had about sleepin’ outside. It may just be possible that coming here, you will find the best beach you’ve ever been to, right smack dab in the middle of the country. Beach it up 'til you're dizzy and wind it down on a chill 2 mile trail to check out the grounds and admire some midwest pines. Must've been a good date with nature, she’s inviting you to spend the night. Camp out or do some cabining, either way nature will make you comfortable!
