5 nights at M & A’s Sweet Retreat

This place was very quiet and very private and, best of all, we had the entire fenced in back yard so our sweet elderly dog could run around in the yard with no chance of escape. She rarely gets that opportunity and she loved it. No problems at this place whatsoever. We’d definitely stay here again. 😃

Very accessible location with one site that has full hookups. A short drive to Gulf Islands National Seashore's Johnson Beach and Perdido Island. Many interesting attractions, such as the Pensacola Lighthouse and Museum and the Naval Aviation Museum. Also near the Flora-Bama Lounge and restaurants that straddle the state line. Very private: Russell was there if we needed anything, but left us alone. There's a little stream and pond in the backyard with lots of birds. There's also a firepit. Overall a great experience.

Perfect spot for camping near the beach if you want to avoid the crowds. We weren't bothered by anyone our entire stay which is what we prefer. Perfectly level camp site under some shade trees was perfect for setting up our pop up camper. Plenty of open space for our 3 kids to run around. Tucked away but close to everything. Aldi, Walmart, Target 5 minutes away. The beach 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. We had a nice stay here.

Just do it, easy on easy off I10. Richard wax great. We will definitely be back! We had four dogs and 2 kids barely seen anyone. It was perfect.

It was quiet and peaceful and the stars were real bright. Enjoyed seeing all the farm animals but our favorite was Homer the dog. We also enjoyed hiking. We hope to go there again soon.

The inside space if the teepee was bigger than we thought. It was warm and cozy. The main area had hammocks that we enjoyed, as wellbas games and other cozy places to sit. The man was very nice and helpful. They brought us a wheelbarrow to carry our things. It was really cute. We liked it. You would like it.

Loved the sand and the sound of the river. This spot is very unique and beautiful. Word of warning for those who have *full size pickup trucks* …. It takes some very skilled driving to get down to the water! Very sharp turn near the end of the road just before you get to the beach and not much room for error. And if it rains and the road gets muddy u better have 4WD I barely made it out on the morning I left the ground was fairly soggy. Just saying! Other than that there’s no spot like this one!

We had an amazing stay at this spacious, full-hookup site inside Grand Riviera RV Resort! The site was level and easy to set up on, with plenty of room to spread out. Having access to the resort’s amenities—three pools, pickleball courts, and laundry—was a huge bonus. But the best part? It’s just a short drive to the beautiful Gulf Shores beaches! If you’re looking for a comfortable and convenient spot to park your RV near the coast, this is definitely one to check out. We’d absolutely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Heart of the Country

Dave was extremely helpful and welcoming. We parked on a beautiful location amongst the tall evergreens just off his long driveway overlooking a valley. Super clean outdoor outhouse (no smell!👍). And super friendly dogs to greet us as well. Unfortunately we had to leave early the next morning so unable to explore the trails on his property.

Heart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us! We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65. I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served. WIFI is available! (please ask for password). We have a portable toilet for your use. This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails. This is also a hobby farm with livestock (Donkey, two Goats, a Duck and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you! My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from backing during the night. We also host an AirBnB, so other guests may be here as well. Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back. We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. A boondocking site (no power) is $15 per night. All sites have access to a porta-potty and water. Suggested local attraction: Blakeley State Historic Park is four miles away.

There is plenty of fallen wood to gather for fires or cut wood available for purchase. We have a community area with picnic tables, sun sails, grill, pavilion, and large bonfire. Please note the access road is old gravel and dirt, so if in a low car you'll need to take it slow. If there has been rain call ahead for entry directions as part of road becomes muddy. This is country life. The airstream hideaway sits on 6 acres surrounded by woods, farmland, birds, deer, rabbits, foxes, and more. Instead of eliminating nature, we embrace awareness and knowledge for coexisting with insects, wildlife, critters, plants, etc. For visitors who love walking: the three roads of this neighborhood are dead ends and have hills. Perimeters of agricultural fields can also be walked, if desired. Other things to note: Our home is on site and located toward the front of the property. The outdoor space includes patio mat, picnic table, charcoal BBQ grill, chairs, fire pit, and RV awning. It is a cool spot to relax. The front porch becomes an outdoor dining area in moments. I try to keep wood for the fire pit nearby for guests to use. At night, the fresh air and crackling fire pit bring back memories of youthful whispered stories.

Overview

Situated along the Gulf Coast in Alabama, Mobile calls out to campers with its coastal marshes, sandy beaches, and remarkably rich biodiversity. Just east of town by Mobile Bay, Meaher State Park offers epic wetlands. Keep an eye out here for local wildlife like alligators, turtles, and pelicans. Paved RV sites in the state park come with full hookups for up to 50-amp electrical service, plus water and sewer. Other amenities include picnic tables, restrooms, and laundry facilities. Glamping at one of the cabins on the Ducker Bay side provides easy access to the beach and boat ramp. For a more rustic camping experience, boondocking tent sites are available too. Road trip over to Gulf State Park near Gulf Shores for some of the best camping near the water. Tent camping sites with wifi are roomy enough for RVs with pullouts and pop-ups. Then, check out the swimming pool and tennis courts, bike the fully paved Catman Trail, kayak at Lake Shelby, or fish for speckled trout and Spanish mackerel.
