Welcome to the heart of Arizona. Surrounded by expansive Pine forests, Payson is set halfway between Phoenix and Flagstaff. The nearby Mogollon Rim stretches 200 miles across the state, offering awe-inspiring views from its ridges, and a string of Rim Canyon Lakes are summertime favorites, with the higher elevation making this a cool retreat. Tonto Natural Bridge State Park is a must-see, where you can take in views of the world's largest travertine bridge from below or hike to the top. Recreation abounds across the region, with horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking, as well as paddling and boating. RVers can find campsites at shaded mountain retreats, private desert getaways, and well-equipped RV resorts. RV parks offer a mix of amenities, with some having full-hookups, while others are entirely off-grid. Many public campgrounds near Payson are located in the Coconino National Forest and Tonto National Forest. Electric hookups may not be available, but endless views are.
