Enjoy Pacific Coast beauty right outside the tent while beach camping in Carlsbad.
Set up camp on sandy Carlsbad beaches to enjoy ocean views, sea walls, and surfing. South Carlsbad State Beach gives direct access to three miles of shoreline and over 200 campsites but only 15 with hookups—book in advance for this popular campground. Carlsbad beach camping is most popular from July to September, when the sun’s hot and the water’s warm, though California temperatures make for comfortable camping year-round. The state park's restrooms, picnic areas, and beachside showers are available for day-use visitors as well. Further inland, campers can find Hipcamps offering tent campsites, yurt rentals, and other unique retreats still within close proximity to the shore. Be sure to visit Tamarack Surf Beach and Carlsbad Sea Wall for bluffs, waves, and marine wildlife. Larger surfing swells come as winter approaches.
