The place is very well kept and we enjoyed being away the peace of being away from the city for a bit. We loved the view at the top of the short hike and how clean everything was. This was a first time camping at the Hideout but definitely won’t be the last.

We loved our two night stay at Campo Nopalito! The whole experience was excellent. Jacob was super kind and showed us around the space on arrival. The A-frame we stayed in was super charming and we had coffee on the deck each morning! Gerdie the farm dog was a sweetie and we felt so welcome and at peace the whole time. The pizza oven and whole outdoor kitchen were a dream and we had everything we needed to make a perfect dinner and relax by the fire. The attention to detail with all the spaces and amenities was clear and we appreciated it so much. We’re already planning our next trip back!

Macala Orchards is a beautiful Mediterranean-inspired property filled with boulders of every size & shape, olive trees, purple sages, wild rabbits and coyotes yipping. My 13 year old daughter spent most of each days climbing the boulders. We watched birds & ground squirrels. Found a funnel spider. Tried to get close to a rabbit at evening silflay. Did the olive oil tasting (multiple award winners including a best of the world!) which was wonderful & luckily our two favorite oils were available for sale. When we first arrived, the property manager David met us at the gate & did a great orientation. Rich, the patriarch, took us on an inspiring tour of the property, zipping up and down hills in his golf cart. Our tent site was close to their new, bright bathroom, which had a decent-sized hot shower. I was able to park my SUV near the place we chose for the tent. There are lots of spots to park and/or set up one’s tent, s actually. I just chose a spot that was flat, under a tree & near a picnic shelter with a view for my morning coffee time. We didn’t use the bigger bathroom/kitchen area as we didn’t need the microwave, fridge or sink up there. (We are self sufficient that way.) My daughter wants to go back, as do I, but I think for vastly different reasons. She loved the rocks & building the fire. I loved the trees that came from Italian soil & knowing it Italian blood that build everything. Macala Orchards is a place good for the soul.

2 nights at San Diego Canyon Creek

My adult daughter and I do an annual camping trip and it never fails; we always experience crazy weather. The weather apps can 'guarantee' sunny skies in Julian and it snows. So, of course when it said the weather would be mild when we headed to Laura's site, it poured! Thank goodness for Laura's set up! What could have proven to be a dreary, wet 2 days, turned out to be a relaxing and fun trip! The outdoor kitchen saved the weekend! We were able to sit by the outdoor fire pit and stay under the covered kitchen to cook steaks, have some wine and chat! We listened to the calming stream and pondered the numerous frogs in the area. There are crayfish in her stream, which we found fascinating! (That's when you know you're relaxed! Lol). We will be back!

1 night at Campo Nopalito

No words to describe this place! Jacob has turned this place into an unbelievable sanctuary with amazing energy. You can relax in the hammocks, enjoy the views of the green hills, visit some local wineries, make a pizza in his woodfired oven, sit by the campfire at your site, make friends, take an outdoor shower under the stars… I’ve stayed at a lot of Hipcamp ‘s, and this was by far my favorite. It truly is just a special place so do yourself a favor and go!

It was a really nice, 10/10 experience!! Bathrooms were well maintained and the view was beyond beautiful. The host was super kind and welcoming!!

Weekend Trip to BaseCamp at Palomar

This area is in a rural spot, but it has modern amenities, like running water and wifi. Jennifer was an amazing host, and she was helpful in getting me setup, despite dealing with a crisis of her own. Her team even helped me get a fire going so I could roast marshmallows. Full disclosure, there are permanent residents here who live in RVs on-site, so please be comfortable in that environment. The neighbors are respectful and keep to themselves. I would definitely come back again! It’s a wonderful location nearby state parks.

My 6 year old son and I camped in a tent in the Oak Grove and had a spectacular time!! Even in the rain it was incredibly refreshing and inspiring. I honestly don’t know why other people say this place is not stellar. I have super high expectations for the vibe and aesthetic of where we camp and this place is amazing. We hiked for hours and hours and took the scenery in. The animals are a joy. The staff at the camp store is so nice. You’re obviously not in the pristine wilderness in Fallbrook, but this feels as removed as you can get. 5 stars -we will be back!

I absolutely loved camping here! Everyone is so friendly and nice. Signs were easy to read and know exactly where to go. It felt so safe and cozy, for a solo traveler like myself that’s very important. Also, it gets DARK make sure you have a headlamp. My pup also enjoyed walking around and meeting the animals on this property. Already planning to come back!

Pets and horses are welcome. We provide Two horse corrals with feed buckets and access to water. There is a outdoor dog kennel. There are off road areas nearby. Bring your motor bike, quad or buggy and throw up some dirt. Not to far there is a Casino, small store and a restaurant and about 30 minutes away from the Temecula wineries. You don’t have to worry about packing up a bunch of camping equipment, our camp provides a 35 foot RV big enough for 6 people if you prefer a roof over your head and a place to sit down for a meal runs off a generator ( you will need to provide your own fuel. it is a 5 gallon capacity). and has indoor and outdoor lights and electrical outlets to plug in a fan or your phone and, there is a microwave to use. We have a cooler for you to use bur you will need to provide your own ice. There are dishes and utensils and a toilet. and water in and outside (You will need to bring your own blankets, sleeping bags and towels). Also provided arepropane b.b.q, propane fire ring, outdoor bench, table and camp chairs. There is enough room on this property to bring your own camper, RV or tent or ? but it must be self contained. Access to pool, BBQ (bring utensils you would bring camping, plates, napkins, towels, etc. There is a small sink to wash dishes (pleases only liquid down the drain) but we do not supply dishes, so paper/disposable stuff required if you plan on cooking) The pool, hot tub and outside bathroom is shared with our small family and anyone staying in the Poolside Lounge during the day if people are swimming, so you may meet some new people while staying at our place. The outdoor bathroom will be shared when other guests are at the pool swimming or hanging out and need to use the toilet, but most likely during the evening hours, it will be all yours, we always try to give a heads up if there will be anyone using the bathroom in the evening. The pool is shared, we live on the property across an easement and we have other rentals on the property. There is total privacy at the YOME. Everyone who comes to stay is friendly and chill, no drama here and not a party place, just good vibes :) We have a small farm on our property with chickens and loads of rare tropical fruits and veggies and we love to give tours and share with our guests. There are lot's of wineries in Ramona, about 30 minutes east in the mountains, as well as Julian to explore. Our glamp is great for a weekend destination or just for a rest on your way to another adventure. Although we love pets (we have a few dogs on the property), we cannot accept guests with pets at this time. share it with our guests and will be available during your whole stay if you need anything at all. Splitrock Farm Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers. Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 200 foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. We have three campsites and a cabin on about an acre of land. If you'd like to hang out on the property, we offer a table and chairs with each campsite to lounge in while enjoying the fresh air and nature. There are also a couple of hammocks available. In addition, our SHARED amenities include an outdoor kitchen that includes a sink with hot water, 2 mini fridges,(full at times, extra coolers available) coffee maker, a two burner stove, a griddle, a toaster oven, blender, tea kettle, and a few pans, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. Also here to SHARE is a Propane fire pit and BBQ area. The bathroom now includes a flush toilet, sink and shower. We are continuously making improvements. Fun Fact: Harbison Canyon was named after John Stewart Harbison - aka the King of the Bee Keepers. He arrived with over one hundred colonies of bees in 1874 and within 7 years he became the world's largest honey producer! Today there are just a few bees in the area.
