Weekend Trip to Spirit Walk - Private Retreat

Such a heavenly location! We stayed at the playhouse, it was cute and cozy. The grounds were well kept and really charming. Loved the proximity to the river and having an outdoor kitchen was fun too, don’t get to cook outdoors everyday. Would def go back!

The pictures do not do the property justice. It is far more beautiful in person. RV spots are nestled far away from the main house. Our dogs loved being able to be out and about. The hosts were incredibly helpful and we really could not have had a better time!

The pond was honestly so cute and had so many different birds flying around! The host was very accommodating! We didn’t realize how far this camp was from the other side of Death Valley, but definitely worth is with the view of the Sierra Nevadas! Although there is only one restroom/shower, it was very nice and had plenty of hot water! Easy to get to and close to a gas station!!

Fantastic tent camping experience. The private lake and views are gorgeous. There are a few 2 story decks next to the river with gas BBQ's and chairs. A number of Great-Tailed Grackles, Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Myrtle Warblers, Coots and other birds make the lake their home. Each tent space has water and power hookups, which was really nice. There is a real shower and toilet, which was much appreciated.

Weekend Trip to Blue Moon Orchard Retreat

Our family of 6 + dog had a great 2 nights at Mark’s place. He gave us a tour of the farm where we met sheep, a ram, some very friendly cats, and Merlin the gregarious German Shepherd. We enjoyed walking through acres of mature olive trees and sleeping next to several fragrant, blossoming mandarin trees. In the evening we heard only the white noise of crickets and a few howling dogs in the distance. Mark was very friendly and we learned a good bit about Lemon Cove and the surrounding area from him. Overall a great place for kids and dogs to run around and enjoy a nicely maintained orchard. Quiet, private, beautiful location close to Sequoia National Park but far enough out to be well away from crowds. We look forward to returning.

Wonderful spot right next to the creek! It was peaceful to hear the creek at night. The communal kitchen was great and had everything we needed to cook comfortably all weekend. The provided wagons were helpful getting our gear in and out of the space. The fire pit was nice and large in size, plus it was nice that bundles of wood are located in the same spot. A beautiful piece of land and very peaceful. Will definitely be coming back.

Spirit Walk was a great experience! The outdoor kitchen was beautiful and a delight to use. The creek running through the property provided calming sound through the night. On arrival, John gave me an audio tour through the property, and everything was just as described in the rules. Would definitely go back!!

We were on a week long road trip in a camper van and this was easily the best campsite we stayed at. Nacho was friendly and welcoming and even let us hook up to water/electric even though we only rented a tent site. The campground was very well kept with a single shower/bathroom which was great and the campground has a nice lake with frogs at night and a large deck to grill on. 10/10 experience

This campsite was a great experience for campers (especially beginner campers). All the amenities were in good condition (firepit, camp light/non potable water source, table) and the bathroom was always clean/stocked with toilet paper/paper towels. We appreciated the extra step in providing a comfortable stay for campers. This is a great campsite for those who are looking to experience multiple parks - I would recommend folks to use this campsite if you're interested in traveling into Death Valley and Sequoia National Parks (as it's situated right between both parks). We were able to squeeze in both parks during a weekend trip!

The space was great (normal RV site). However, the label is somewhat misleading: "Lake Olancha/Death Valley". Death Valley is 105 miles away.

2 nights at Double Triangle Ranch

If you live in the LA area or anywhere around the area of Kern this place is special. The spaces they have for RVs, campers, camper vans or rooftop tents this is an amazing place. You are completely out of the way so personally I felt safe here. The owners are really nice and super helpful. Weather your fishing, hiking, or just exploring the owner has 15 archers you can explore right off the back. If you hike the whole thing it’s amazing. Over all would highly recommend.

Underworld Farms is a small goat ranch in the Kern River Valley. Surrounded by forestry land, on the Kern River, and on top of what used to be the old town of Whiskey Flat (Later re-named Kernville). There is no end to the beauty, history and adventure all around the property. Life took us to the Kern River Valley after moving out of Los Angeles. We enjoy living in the Southern Sierras immersed in all its natural beauty. The small but magnificent town of Kernville is approximately two and a half miles north of us. Our livestock includes horses, dairy goats, sheep, and rabbits: Most of which are raised and bred as our son's 4H or FFA projects. You may be wondering why our farm is called "Underworld Farms". In a nutshell, since our ranch is on the footprint of the historic town of Whiskey Flat, we just happen to be south of the old Whiskey Flat "Boot Hill" Cemetery. Our "driveway" is the road that led from the old town of Kernville to the cemetery. We hope that you consider parking your RV, van conversion, or trailer on one of our customized spots on the property. Or drive your vehicle and pitch a tent on one of our tent friendly sports. Or enjoy a stay in one of our small cabins. Regardless of what you stay in, you will definitely have a memorable time. The campground is VERY barebones and rural. Critters, bugs, and sometimes fellow Hipcampers can be sparce or prevalent pretty randomly. Because Underworld Farms is a working ranch, you will probably hear livestock noises like horses neighing, sheep and goats calling, and our protector dogs barking from time to time. We encourage you to walk over to the horses and goats and meet them. They especially like when you bring them carrots or apple pieces. The ranch has a double outhouse with a hand washing station sandwiched in between, it is rustic and bare bones. We check it to see if it has paper products, soap, water, and plenty of room in the trash bins. During the hotter months, the "daddy longleg" spiders enjoy infiltrating the outhouses and seem to spin new webs overnight. But they and their webs are harmless and easy to brush off. We ask for your assistance if there is something missing, or the trash needs taking out, or if the spiders have taken over again by getting ahold of us through the Hipcamp App and letting us know. With all that being said, there is an ambient beauty here that is unbelievable and memorable. This beauty and draw is so powerful that it causes the many people who come visit to make arrangements to live in our little valley. There is much to do in and around our valley that you couldn't do it all in a lifetime. We hope that you come and stay at the ranch while enjoying our valley. Citrus groves have windmachines for frost protection and if the nighttime temperature dips below 36 degrees, they start up automatically.
