Such a lovely spot. Rustic meets comfort. Everything has been subtlety thought into detail. It is very welcoming and a cozy nature experience. 5min to the mini town near by, where I definitely recommend the breakfast at the Salvadoran restaurant. Definitely a very good hipcamp spot, and definitely will go back. It’s also very private, we had the dogs off leash the whole time (it is not fence so make sure your dogs are trained to follow that part). Surrounded by beautiful hikes at a pretty short drive. Anyways super positive experience. Also Osman and his dad are very nice hosts, good vibe, very communicative and non invasive. Thank you and see you soon!

Weekend Trip to ArtFarm Movie Ranch & Nomad NeXuS

ArtFarm was a lot of fun for us and our teenage girls. We had great time with our doggo having free rein and our cozy cabin still had enough room for board games and meals. Communal kitchen and bathroom were clean and convenient. Our youngest really enjoyed feeding the goats and chickens. Hiking nearby as well. Staff super friendly and accommodating. First time using HipCamp, thanks for a great experience!

Weekend Trip to Star Ranch

The host is incredibly responsive and friendly, and he did a great job of accommodating our needs and schedule changes. The site is wonderful for camping and is quite secluded. We brought our small 14 foot teardrop trailer and had a peaceful evening. The outdoor sink, toilet and hot water on demand shower works perfectly, and the A-frame cabins are nice shelters. We did not sleep in them, but the big one looked well appointed. The outdoor kitchen has great cover from the wind and there is a very nice picnic table for dining. We would definitely stay here again!

Loved this place! The vibes and people were great! My dog could just roam around the property off leash. Zero cell service, but wifi works really well, so doesn't matter. It's great that it's only an about an hour away from LA. Will probably be back to disconnect and unwind.

This place is really awesome. You can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and settle into the desert landscapes. It was our first time using Hipcamp and Kyle was a great host! He was very reliable and friendly. The doggos that protect the land are one of the best parts of the land! I’d love to come back again and do the atv tours next time.

Amazing hilltop oasis in the desert! I always look for getaway properties where I can find solitude; away from other campers, roads, and the usual commotions and distractions of populated areas. This property nails it! I’m so impressed how someone can take a unique location; small plot of land in the middle of nowhere and turn it into an enchanting glamping experience.

I had a blast out here! The campsites felt spaced out well, perfect combination of privacy while still feeling secure sleeping in proximity to other folks. Everybody I met here, especially those running the camp, made me feel welcome and cared for. They cultivated a space for you to enjoy and be able to really unwind. Not to mention having access to showers and running water my whole time there… just an awesome place. Owners also provided easy directions to reach the hot springs, which are nothing short of a dream! I’ll be coming back forsure… Thank you guys so much <3

This campsite is basically a rustic Bohemian Village. It has all of the amenities you would hope for in the backwoods. We were car campers, but felt far away from city life. We did a moderate 2 hour in and out hike up to the fire road ridge… Took a 30 minute nap on top of a old-fashioned quail guzzler - enjoying the scenic surrounding… Definitely recommend for anyone looking for something different… Family friendly.

Weekend Trip to Cross Bull Ranch/CBR

Lisa set us up again for an amazing visit to her place this past weekend. We had warm heaters and clean bathrooms and made full use of the amazing space. The kids had a great adventure with the swing and running through the trails on the hill. What's great about the location is with how easy it is to get the central are in Topanga. On Saturday afternoon we took a field trip to the coffee shops, restaurants and had a great hike at Red Rock Canyon Park thanks to a recommendation from Lisa. We will all be returning back to Lisa's again this summer.

Super cool secluded spot with a unique A frame with comfortable bedding. There is a super clean restroom available with a full flush system, trash cans and solar lights. It got windy but it was super quiet inside the A frame. The host Osman was also super responsive and very welcoming. Great stay.

We had an amazing visit! The cabin was beautiful, easy to find, well furnished, and close to Lake Arrowhead. There was plenty of space and many games for the kids to stay entertained at the cabin. Not at all what I expected from the photos... which was actually nice because it made it a great surprise! We had a great time and it was definitely a unique camping experience. Not really a place to bring kids if you want to enjoy the rec center on site (pool table, nude jacuzzi, sauna, and other adult surprises) and deep creek is also nude friendly. But otherwise, was a fun and interesting experience for our stay. The camp site was cool and the stars were out in full force.

So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher. One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home. Old West Mountain Camping Near LA!

Learn more about this land:A vast expanse of oak trees, California Junipers and rugged, mountainous land running with jackrabbits, quail, and owls that is just 3 miles from Vazquez Rocks and the PCT, our ranch transports you. From the tent campsite, you look out for 20 miles and see nothing but nature across small mountains and canyons all the way to the peaks of Angeles National Forest in the distance. The campsite is a large flat area. For a trailer or RV it's a great place to park and the view is towards wide open spaces. With a tent or if you want more pure nature, you can drive out onto the property further towards the small ruin of the old homesteader's cabin or beyond. The property has a long-abandoned gold mine and circular arrastres where miners used mules to break up rocks. Nearby Acton has pick-your-own apples/pears/peaches at Bloom farms. We are at 3000 feet with strong sun during the day and cool mountains air at night. The camping is set away from structures, but if you want to stroll, closer to the ranch buildings, we have friendly small goats you can visit if interested and horses and a donkey to say hello to across the corral fence.

As the idea grew, we wanted to create an Open Canvas so that the guest could dream up what they wanted on our stage. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees. Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. Weather can be extreme at times, with Winter temps ranging from 20*F to 40* F, and Summer temps peaking at 112F. The cold creek water in the Deep Creek canyon flows all year around, and the 6 creek-side hot spring pools are always full and consistently hot all year around, ranging in temperatures between 90F-108F. The hike to the Deep Creek Hot Springs is fairly steep and can be difficult for some people, especially in warm weather. In order to be prepared with the correct gear to make this hike and know the USFS rules that apply to the area, please educate yourself before coming by visiting the USFS website page for the Deep Creek area and our webpage for the Deep Creek Hot Springs Campground for detailed driving directions to the official trailhead located right on our property. You won't get lost if you park on our property and hike from the trailhead, so make sure you go to the right address. Know before you go! Generally, reservations are not necessary to set up a tent site, but we have a more private area set aside for hipcamp reservations that has separate facilities from the general camping area. Although children are permitted on the property, we do not recommend bringing children due to occasional nudity that may be seen in the area and the degree of difficulty for the hike. The hike to the hot springs is fairly difficult and everyone’s physical fitness needs to be considered when deciding to take pets, or have children, elderly people, or out-of-shape/over-weight people in your group.

Skoolie in the Forest

This was originally a Girl Scout camp called Singing Pines back in the 30’s. You’ll see as you roam around some of the original buildings and structures. It hasn’t been in operation as a Girl Scout camp for over 20 years. The neighbor camp bought the lease but haven’t had the funds to revive it yet. DIRECTIONS: Take Exit for Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) from the 210 Go North, up the mountain for 29 miles Turn left on Sulpher Springs Rd Go about a mile and you will see a Singing Pines sign up on a hill on the right sided. There is a white gate which is usually open but if it's closed go ahead and open it. Go down that driveway about a mile and turn left at the fork. Follow that road down and around the lake staying to the right. Once you passed the lake there will be a little uphill and the location is on the left. Learn more about this land: The Skoolie is a converted short bus with two love seats that convert to an RV queen bed, sink, stove top, dinette, and over head lights. Outside is a private meadow with a short walk to a small lake. You can take out the provided sit on top kayak or bring your fishing gear. Outside the Skoolie is a picnic table, fire pit (firewood included) and a hammock. Up the hill, a very short walk is the private campground toilet facility. This is not shared with anyone else. No cell phone reception no linens bring a sleeping bag or warm blankets. You can charge your phone in the Skoolie for a sunrise alarm or just to take pictures.

Tentsite Over Topanga

Welcome! Our 'Tentsite Over Topanga' is a lovely private campsite high above the magical Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga Canyon. You will be treated to a sweeping view of the verdant Topanga landscape. Our host, (Peter Alsop) will meet you in the parking lot of the world-renowned Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum, show you where the bathrooms are, and together hike up 300 steps to the camp site. (Campers must be fit enough to make this climb!) Under the support posts of our former tipi, there is a 20 foot circle where 2 or 3 tents can be set up. We have a picnic table there for your convenience. Of course no fires of any kind are permitted, (including 'no smoking' please!). You may want to bring pre-made or delicatessen food and drinks, and come prepared for very warm days and cool nights. It's a very short path from the Tentsite up to the trail's end at the 'big rock overlook', and that's where the trail ends! There are many other wonderful hiking trails throughout Topanga in the nearby Santa Monica Mountains State Parks, ... and the Pacific Ocean beaches are only a :10 minute drive to the South. Many campers come specifically to see one of the fantastic shows at the Theatricum Botanicum, and then head back up the hill behind our outdoor theater and spend the night with family, friends or a special loved one sleeping under the stars over Topanga. This 2024 season we are presenting 5 plays: "Wendy's Peter Pan", Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "A Winter's Tale", Moliere's "Tartuffe" and a new play by Paola Aguilar, "The Hispanic/Latino/Latina/Latinx/Latine Vote". You can look up "Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum" on you browser and they will have ticket information and dates. We also have a small bakery on the grounds, where one can find excellent baked goods and coffee for sale on most Sunday mornings. Families with young children love seeing the lizards, butterflies, woodpeckers and other small wildlife they spotted around the site. Because a theater operates on the premises , no pets are allowed, and as for your trash, ... we ask that if you 'pack it in, ... please pack it out too!' We seem to have good telephone reception for almost all carriers, but we do not have wireless access. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: There really is only one small public transportation vehicle available. It's called "the Beach Bus" and it goes from San Fernando Valley, through Topanga to the beach and back again several times a day. Not really sure of their schedule, but you search for it and find out if you are interested. Most people have their own vehicles. MEETING UP? Peter will contact you and make plans to meet with you at the Theatricum and walk you up to the Tipi in the afternoon, (before showtime if you have reserved your tickets. You can come back down and visit to one of Topanga's many local restaurants for lunch or dinner, or just stay at the Tipi and chill. HIKING Our 'Tentsite Over Topanga' has been a pristine area for a very long time. If you'ld like to hike in Topanga, the Topanga State Park is only a couple of miles away. Leave the theater going south, headed toward the ocean. After about a mile and a half, you will see Entrada Road on your left, which will take you along the edge of the park. There is the Dead Horse Parking lot almost as soon as you turn onto Entrada, and a main entrance at the top of Entrada. Dogs are not allowed in the park. And you must be careful about wild life.

Camping near Pomona guide

Overview

For nature excursions in the Los Angeles area, Pomona is an ideal basecamp. The city sits at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, just a 30-minute drive from the range and the surrounding Angeles National Forest’s crisp air, alpine hiking, waterfalls, and summit bagging. West of town are classic SoCal beaches with surf, sunsets, and soft brown sand, while those who head east will reach the Mojave Desert wonderland of Joshua Tree National Park. Come winter, you can even ski and cabin camp outside of Pomona at Big Bear Lake.

Pomona Surrounds

Camping destinations around Pomona include the Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas, home to trails and lakes, and Chino Hills State Park, which features over 90 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails through Southern California chaparral and sage scrub. RV campers can book spots at RV parks and RV resorts in Pomona and nearby San Bernardino, many with full hookups, free wifi, and other amenities.

San Gabriel Mountains

The Pomona area is good for camping year-round. Winter has the highest likelihood of cold weather and rain, but is an excellent time for desert camping.
