Great local spot. We’ll be back as always. Easy access and very private with a private pond.

Beautiful camp spot. Easy RV turn around for parking and a nice place to walk the dog down the country roads. Lovely people. Enjoyed it very much.

The grounds are beautiful and it was lovely to walk thru the gardens. We parked in the parking lot used for events but were able to back up to the grass and planted grape vines. It is a nice setting and convenient to highway 99.

Weekend Trip to Calistoga Dreaming

We loved camping on Peter’s land. With only one site on the property, it was very private. Jody (his wife) welcomed us shortly after we got there and showed us all of the power switches for the outdoor lights and how to use the shower. We loved the Mountain View’s by day and the lights of Calistoga by night. With Bothe state park so close, we drove into town for a hearty breakfast at Serafornia’s and then headed off to Bothe just a few miles south of town. We came back and took hot showers in Peter’s cleverly made outdoor stall, then settled in for a lovely evening by the chimenea and string lights. The only thing that would have made this better would have been wider roads and an easier way to back in. It was a little tricky for us but once there it was more than worth it. Absolutely beautiful and Peter’s touches show a true appreciation for the land and for camping.

Weekend Trip to The Olive Farm

We had a relaxing time at the Olive Farm and Sam was an accommodating host. I’d highly recommend this place!

1 night at Sleep Up High In A Redwood Tree-net

First time experiencing a tree net. Cool and unique experience with three teenagers and husband. Not large rural property but felt private enough enclosed within the ring of redwoods on Louis’s property in the residential neighborhood for hanging with family for evening games and sleep. Neighborhood is across the main street from large, beautiful open space for exploring. Check out trails on AllTrails in San Geronimo, like Roy’s Redwoods for ideas. Didn’t go far but leaves much to explore on a future visit. We had come from a day at the beach and dinner in Stinson. Great sleepover stop before heading home toward Sacramento the next day. Louis is friendly and helpful. Great stay. Thx Louis for sharing your space and making a special trip with teens possible.

1 night at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Glamping

Such a lovely spot! Really enjoyed our stay glamping at Sugar Loaf. It was perfect for my two kids (5 and 2) and they had such a nice time! The nature was great, we saw deers and turkeys on our small hike to the creek and up the hillside. The toilets and showers were clean. Would definitely come back again!

13 nights at Pharo Pharms Organic Farm-

This was a wonderful place to camp. With a wide mixture of farm animals and birds to enjoy with a vineyard to look at. A wine tasting option less than a half mile away. Eileen was very welcoming and shared her fresh eggs and lemons. Definitely will look to stay here again.

What a lovely space to escape to! We had an rv and two kids for a few days. We all felt relaxed, the kids had swings and a trampoline to enjoy. Complete hookups for us and shower and laundry if needed. The hosts are very kind. We would go back :)

This was the prettiest campsite I've ever stayed at...I will be coming back! It is dispersed camping so you are around other campers, but those around us were sweet and very respectful. It is also about a 10-15 minute walk from the car, but we had our backpacking packs and used a wagon that they provided for some extra things which was perfect. The walk to the beach we took before sunset was remarkable. Highly recommend!

Beautiful place to camp and lots of sweet details throughout the stay. The art on the sheds is lovely, as are the views of the moon from the hot tub. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay!

Weekend Trip to Above the Clouds RV Park

We camped at site #2 and very much enjoyed it. Perched high up on a hill in Sonoma County, it has one of the best views we’ve come across with Hip Camp. Even though it’s only a 20 min climb from civilization, the view is mostly wild hillside. Host Colleen was very friendly and helpful, and they have a friendly black lab named Minnie. Both sites are near the owners house, but you can hardly see any neighbors; view from most directions are wild hillsides. The site was fairly flat, but you’d need a wheel leveler to make it completely level. The best part, for people like us who don’t like to back in a trailer, site 2 offers a turn-around so you don’t have to back up when you leave. Good well water is supplied by nearby hose bibs, with good pressure. However, there are no standard RV 30amp or 50Amp hook-ups; electricity is supplied by a thick gauge extension cord with a domestic 3-prong connection, so make sure you have that adapter. The 15amp supply will not power A/C, but did fine with microwave and other light loads. The nice hill views mean you have to climb up a long winding road, with many hairpin turns, to get there. Our trailer is 19’, and we feel that’s is the max length we’d be comfortable towing up there. Definitely would NOT recommend for any Class-As or larger trailers. Many hiking trails and boutique vineyards with tasting, within 30 mins drive. We recommend this site, and will likely return.

Weekend Trip to Walden Ranch

This was my first Hipcamp experience and it was a great introduction! Alan greeted us right as we drove in and he was a very sweet and welcoming host. There were so many animals (horses, cattle, peacocks, chicken, dogs, and more) and it was fun just walking around and exploring. The animals were very loud at night and I would recommend bringing earplugs if you’re a lighter sleeper. The dogs and pig are social and will come up to your campsite to hang out especially when you’re eating. We ended up using the provided canoes and paddleboat a few times during our short stay. At night, we saw a whole family of geese on the pond and were able to see them up close on the canoe! When we were there the pond was about 8 ft deep and there were life jackets available to use as well. Alan provides unlimited firewood for a set price, and the fireplace is communal. We ended up bringing our own wood and had the fireplace to ourselves even though there were several other parties camping. There is also a communal kitchen prep area and sink. The only unexpected situation was that we thought we would be 1 of 2 parties since only 2 sites are listed on Hipcamp, but there were other parties present as well. That left only one spot for us to set up camp at. Luckily every spot is flat and easy to set up in! Overall, we enjoyed our stay on Alan’s property and we would love to come back in the future! It’s a great value and perfect for a weekend getaway!

Weekend Trip to The Olive Farm

We had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday with family and friends, including furry ones and toddlers. It was great to see everyone enjoying their time together under the starlit sky, or playing near the water. The potable water from the sink is very tasty and handy for cleaning dishes. The only suggestions I would make would be to get a second paddle for the boat, put a flag up in the grassy area where the pipe sticks out to keep wheels safe, add some blankets to the cabin, and have more power in the battery for the string lights. They went out after 45 mins or so and we had to keep turning them back on, sometimes with no luck. But other than that, it was a dreamy stay and the perfect location for making priceless memories with loved ones! And we can't wait to try the olive oil! We hope to return again <3

The family farm and residence were established during the late 1970s on the site of the historic Peter’s Dairy Ranch. The original farmhouse dates back to the late 19th century and survived the great 1906 earthquake. Today, the 7-acre farm is being restored to sustainably support fruit orchards, cottage flower and kitchen gardens, honey bees, a boisterous flock of chickens, and naughty shetland sheep. Our self-serve farmstand attached to our barn has seasonal flowers, organic eggs, heirloom fruit, and local goods from the farm. Our property is the perfect rustic getaway for backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. You’ll be surrounded by farm/ranch life: chickens clucking, roosters crowing, bees buzzing, and sheep bleating. We also have active nighttime wildlife: coyotes howling, raccoons foraging, owls hooting, etc. Bring earplugs if nature sounds are too much for you. We offer 4 walk-in tent sites that allow you to immerse yourself in nature. We welcome well-behaved pets ON LEASH that won’t harass the chickens, cats, sheep, other campers, or residents. Unruly pets and their campers will be asked to leave. No refund. Limit: 1 dog per site. Pitch your tent in a meadow shared by: Campsite 1 - left side of the meadow, closest to the common area and hot tub. Campsite 2 - middle of the meadow, closest to our fenced apiary and bee garden. Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Glamping

We have four lovely Glamping sites at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park and 25 miles of hiking trails, nestled in the glorious chaparral of the Mayacama Mountain Range and Sonoma Hills, deep in the heart of wine country. The cost is $150 per night on weekends (Fri and Sat) and $125 per night on weekdays (Sun-Thurs). There is a 2-night minimum stay required between Memorial Day and Labor Day. In our family-friendly campground, our tents are 16-Foot Canvas and come with a queen-size bed, futon lounge chairs (May be converted to twin beds), rugs, tables, lighting, and complementary firewood the first night. At no additional cost, we can add up to two twin beds to each tent upon request to sleep up to 6 people. 8 people max allowed at the campsite. The glamping sites include a picnic table, fire ring, outdoor seating, and room for additional tents if desired. All sites are easy walking distance to flush toilets and a bathhouse, with large, clean, coin operated hot shower rooms. There is no cell service in the park, but free WiFi is available at the Visitor Center. PLEASE NOTE that Bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets) IS NOT included in a standard rental, but is available as an add-on. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bedding whenever possible. If no bedding is added, we will assume a one-queen setup with mattress covers only. We kindly ask guests to provide at least 48-hour notice if bedding will be required. We will always try to accommodate last-minute requests, but we cannot guarantee this. PETS and SMOKING ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE our glamping tents! This is strictly enforced, and you WILL be charged a $150 cleaning fee for any violation of this policy. Parking: Your reservation includes parking for one vehicle. There is an additional $10 per night per vehicle charge for more than one vehicle, which you can pay for at the Visitor's Center upon check-in. In 1969, 134 acres of this fertile coastline were rescued from commercial development and purchased by the Nature Conservancy. The Slide Ranch nonprofit organization was established in 1970, becoming one of the first Park Partners in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

We listed the site for up to 12 campers but feel free to reach out if your group is bigger. Please check out the newest addition of our cabin bunkhouse. Take a look at the pictures - you can add it to your stay as an extra when you book! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. Whaleback Ridge Cabins & Camp

Welcome to our family land! We now offer 3 options for guests, 5 minutes from the Petrified Forest, and 10 minutes from beautiful Calistoga, mud baths, the restaurant and fun bar scene. I teach at SF State, and maintain hipcamp on my spare time to share an affordable option for travelers coming through our area, who appreciate nature and will respect our land. Our land borders Sonoma and Napa Counties, technically in Calistoga, and we boast gorgeous views and peaceful nature settings. We are a heavy nature camp: bugs, coyotes heard in the distance, etc. With the exception of Coral Cabin (which is full service), this is a "user responsible" site, essentially meaning Shaded Oak and Married Manzanitas are 'leave no trace' sites. I provide garbage bags, you pack your trash and take it to the lower garbage bins when you depart your stay. There are also supplied disinfectant towelettes, sprays and other cleaning supplies for a quick wipe down of surfaces when you leave, and if needed/preferred upon arrival. No cleaning service, no cleaning fee, guests responsible for cleaning up after themselves with supplies provided. If that's OK with you, read on! Thank you! Whaleback Ridge has 3 main sites that overlook “the Whaleback Ridge” to the North, named by my great-great grandparents who settled here 100 years ago. The top of the Whaleback Ridge is seen from the camps on the north-side far edge of our 34-acre property, and is accessible by trails (a hiking map will be sent to you upon booking). The lower, private sites, overlooking this ridgeline through the trees, are called the Shaded Oak and the Married Manzanitas - both are very rustic and outdoorsy. Shaded Oak is the only RV site (unless you rent Coral Cabin which has large flat area just outside), but is limited to shorter trailers with 4wd trucks only, or Class B RVs (see pics). The upper site, the Coral Cabin, shares the hilltop with our main house (there is a quiet, respectful family that lives there - close but private) and shared Hilltop 360 Station. Coral Cabin is the most outfitted, and is the most accessible - but also with an compost toilet outhouse, outdoor shower, sink, etc. The Coral Cabin has the best views, but everyone can also access the views by walking up to the Hilltop 360 Station, which is technically a shared space, but campers will likely have it to themselves. *We have a 14-year old dog at the Hilltop 360 Station! She is a husky-akida mix (her name is "Beautiful"), she lives in the main house with her mom and has a dog door to come and go to everything she needs. She will bark at you at first, but please don't be alarmed - she has never bitten anyone and she makes friends quickly if you call her by name and are friendly. She also loves other dogs - only been aggressive once with a dog larger than her who was aggressive. She might become your best friend, as she is very sweet the second she warms up to you. Overview of Sites (more details in site descriptions): Shaded Oak ($59/night 4ppl, more $10 each), smaller RV accessible**, a prime tent spot, propane fire ring, compost toilet "throne" at your site. Tables and chairs. Water provided for hand/dishwashing; b-y-o drinking water. Shower at shared Hilltop 360 Station. **(trailers over 10 feet likely need 4WD truck pulling it and be skilled at backing in; teardrop trailers & Class B RVs are optimal size and relatively easy to back in). Married Manzanitas Camp and Cabin ($79/night up to 6 ppl), walk-in OR high clearance vehicle only, 1 large tent spot AND access to 2-person camp cabin. Tables and chairs, 2 adirondack loungers, gas stove and limited cooking/eating utensils. Water provided for hand/dishwashing; b-y-o drinking water. Private/exclusive hot outdoor shower with redwood platform and riverstones - fed by hose at hilltop (you will have to walk up to turn on the right, red hose 1/4 turn). Compost toilet "throne" at your site. Camp cabin included! Bare bones, comes ready to throw your sleeping bag or put your own sheets and pillows on the full bed (very comfy futon) - or pitch a tent and use the cabin for storage or to chill out - or both with a larger group. Coral Cabin ($109/night +$30 cleaning, up to 2 ppl, more $10 each to pitch tent/RV), drive up to doorway, direct access to Hilltop 360 Station (kitchen, shower, tubs). Cabin has electricity, AC unit, wifi access, TV with Roku, comfy loveseat. Enjoy some interesting books. Bed comes freshly made and there is a cleaning service so no need to tidy up on departure. This is our "glamping" cabin with amazing views and walks, outdoor amenities, compost toilet just outside the cabin, hilltop shower steps away. $30 cleaning fee goes directly to cleaner. Hilltop 360 Station: a shared space (only if there are other campers) has: Outdoor kitchen with stainless countertop, running water, propane grill, electrical outlets, and wifi - access to shed with microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge with freezer, lots of plates/cookware/silverware to use. Games and books! Gas campstove is in the yellow shed attached to outdoor kitchen area. Hammocks in camp station can easily be clipped on to take a load off; second hammock also available in treehouse. And there's a swing to enjoy! Shower/tubs: The on-demand propane heated shower is right in the camp station, guarded by a privacy barrier all around except the lookout over the mountain. If you want a hot tub in either the private smaller tub or larger tub next to it, contact Dan ($10 as 'extra' if desired). Hot water turns on automatically when you turn blue dial at base of water pipe to heater. Compost toilets: there are separate seats for #1 and #2; #1 is PEE ONLY on the LOW SEAT (or blue commode at lower sites) and is over an open pit - don't put used TP here... and #2 is POO only on the HIGH SEAT atop the throne, you can put all TP here, and after your #2 ADD a scoop/layer of MULCH/DRY LEAVES (NOT DIRT) over it to completely cover sight and smell. #1 in lower seats can be covered with a scoop/layer of dirt OR leaves. Again, mulch/leaves should fully cover any sight and smell of your biz after using the thrones. Garbage: Please use the trash bags provided, tie your trash bag, and on departure deposit tied bag in the FARTHEST grey bin from the "5895" mailbox. Recycle can be deposited in the blue bin. Thank you! Other notes: You may need to rinse dishes, etc. before use as dust and spiderwebs accumulate up here. Feel free to use cleaning supplies to evict any daddy-long legs if they bother you. Want some activities? Kayak and all gear/2 life vests/ratchet strap to tie to roof ($20); tennis rackets/balls for court in town ($10); 2-4 person tent ($10/night). Games and books are free to use! - please replace as you found them. *In emergencies or stuck cars, our resident at the main house can usually help with his truck - after work hours - for a $15 emergency help fee if he's available, and has graciously done so before. We specialize in "Horse Experiences" tailored to your level of comfort and needs. None of the horse experiences listed on our site require any prior experience with horses. We will make sure you are safe and comfortable while working with the horses. *NOTE: Experiences are not available on Sundays (our sabbath day). We can fit them in on Saturday afternoon/evening for Saturday-night campers, or Monday morning for Sunday-night campers. We have a private bathroom with flush toilet and sink. Summertime brings hot days and (usually) cool nights to our area. It is not uncommon to experience 100 degree days in June, July and August. Most evenings cool down, thanks to the Delta Breeze, to around 60-70 degrees overnight. Wintertime brings cooler daytime temps (50-60 degrees) and colder night temps (30-40 degrees). We are located about 10 minutes from the Galt area, which has a large variety of Fast-food, as well as several nicer restaurants. There is also a Wal-Mart (with groceries) and a nice Supermarket. We are about 6 miles from 2 country stores in Herald and Wilton (with gas station). Sites accommodate up to 6 people, and you can add up to 2 more for an additional fee. If you need more than 8 people, then consider booking 2 or more sites. With horses and the activities we do with them, dogs are not allowed.
