This mountain town provides a basecamp for Rocky Mountain RVers.
Set in the foothills, Lyons is conveniently located between Boulder and Estes Park, providing a home base for adventures in Rocky Mountain National Park—and beyond. Toss a line or a raft into the North St. Vrain Creek, which flows through Lyons, or hit one of the many hiking and biking trails that cris-cross the region. RVers will find several county park campgrounds in the area, offering dry camping and full hookups, mostly on the shores of scenic reservoirs. Venture west into the Roosevelt National Forest to find off-grid, designated RV campgrounds and dispersed camping amid the plentiful pines and mountain peaks. Full-service RV parks can also be found near Lyons, primarily north of town near Estes Park and Loveland, offering amenities like big rig sites, free wifi, and full hookups. Summer is the peak season for camping, while winter brings in weather conditions better suited for skiing than camping, but RV campers can keep cozy with heating.
