Weekend Trip to Hartwoods

My significant other and I stayed here for a night! It was super secluded and quiet, which was wonderful! We are roadtripping with our travel trailer to Maine, and it made for a perfect over night! The sight was clean well taken care of! It also had plenty of space to maneuver around!

Weekend Trip to Greener Pastures Camp

It was a very nice spot. Beautiful scenery. There is alot to do around the area. Plenty of hiking and fishing. It was very quiet. The response from Jessica was always within a timely manner and very pleasant to communicate with. I plan on returning to this location in the future. I would recommend to anyone.

3 nights at Holiday Hill

I don't usually pay as much as I did for a dry site, and before I got there I had some misgivings about the cost, however once I arrived, settled in and got to meet Jesse and some of the staff and learn about the camp and their mission as well as explored the offerings in the area, I had no regrets. Staff was extremely welcoming. The site itself is basic. I have a 14 ft trailer, about 8 ft wide & it fit in well between two trees and required no leveling. A larger rig would fit, however I can't say if it would be level for you and might be a tight fit. The camp road does pass directly in front of the site. The camp was not open, however maintenance staff did begin to arrive & there was traffic during the day. Therefore, depending upon the time you're here, there could be much more activity. However, if you enjoy hiking, biking or paddling, you won't be there much, so it will not matter! You can walk across the street and hike the Natchaug Reservation, where there are miles of beautiful trails! Just a couple of miles down the road there is Mansfield Hollow State Park and dam, which has AMAZING hiking trails, a beautiful 500 acre lake and paved trails to the dam should you prefer that type of stroll. The area is absolutely beautiful! The campsite was extremely quiet at night. You will hear light traffic noise during the day, however at night it disappears. If you are a tent camper, the lean-to site is awesome! It's set up on the hill in the back, private and just a great site.

2 nights at Wee Three Farm

Stayed here with my wife for 2 nights on our annual road trip. Hosts are friendly and very nice (offered us fire wood). Beautiful private corner of a field backing up against a massive split oak. Apple Maps was off by about 4-5 houses. Overall 10/10!

We loved the lean-to site. Lean-tos were clean and dry. The site has 2 picnic tables, a big fire ring, more than enough firewood and even a trash can, which was very convenient. We checked out the grounds and did a nice loop hike at Wolf Rock nearby. Jesse was very responsive, directions were clear and we will defintely come back if we have the chance.

Jessica was really sweet and accommodating. My vehicle is pretty tall, so she came out to meet me and show me another entrance where I wouldn’t risk having any branches hitting the top of my bus! They were happy to answer any questions I had and even offered some great local recommendations. The campsite itself was clean, quiet, and well-maintained. It’s definitely a great spot if you’re traveling on a budget. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again. If you're looking for a peaceful, budget-friendly spot with a host who genuinely cares about your stay, this is the place! Highly recommend.

Due to the snow we couldn’t access the proper camping spot, however we were lucky enough to set up in their driveway which was just as great!

This was my first time using Hipcamp, and it was a great experience. Jesse, our host, was quick to respond and easy to communicate with. The site was exactly as described and shown in the photos. I stayed at the amphitheater location, which worked perfectly for my van camping setup. The surroundings were quiet and peaceful. I’d happily stay here again.

We enjoyed car camping here! The area was peaceful and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again given the chance.

Great secluded spot. We stayed over 1 night in New Year’s Eve, on the way to Maine. Even though we arrived after dark the site was easy to see and get set up. Very quite stay and even with heavy rains there was no problem getting in and out. Turns can be a bit tight but with careful navigation we didn’t have an issue.

Unlike my past review, which contains an error Hipcamp has yet to fix, this spot should always have a thumbs up. It’s peaceful, quiet, dark, woodsy and full of stars. Rick is super responsive to messages and I have enjoyed staying here. I camped but boy, that yurt is beautiful. The property is perfect for all your overnight needs. Thank you !

When he wanted to sell his property he offered it to us for purchase at a fair price if we would not develop more than we needed to live here. We maintained the meadow adjacent to our property and have kept it as an agricultural site. We have had our son develop an edible forest garden and a unique diversified small orchard so we can eat and share healthy organic fruits and vegetables while helping our environment and wildlife and educating others to do the same. It is expensive to live in Newtown but we love our property. We want to teach others to grow food from their land while helping to support us keeping our adjacent property agricultural and undeveloped. Plus, with 110 state parks (that’s one per mile!) and 32 state forests to hike, camp, and explore, you’ll have no shortage of scenic camping spots to park your rig. In the mountainous northwest, hike along part of the Appalachian Trail in Housatonic State Forest, camp by trout-filled rivers at Housatonic Meadows State Park, or stop off at rustic campgrounds and historic towns in the Litchfield Hills.
