3 nights at Geneseo Campground

Great experience camping out at Geneseo especially as a first time camper. The staff at the check in center was very helpful getting settled in; smooth check in, renting a grill as well as purchasing items we needed for our cabin. As for the cabin it was spacey for two people, accommodating with the appliances such as mini fridge and microwave. Amazing stay overall!

Weekend Trip to Vintage Spring Lake Campground

Danika was a great communicator and made our trip easy! They have a lovely campground, great views of the water and sunset, and ample access to nature. If you are looking for a slow and easy retreat to the outdoors this is the place to go. Plenty of hikes for all levels in the area, short 1 hour excursions or longer full day trails! Can't wait to come back and explore the river valley some more.

Weekend Trip to Draco Hill Nature Farm

We had a great time tent camping here. The site was easy to find, and felt nicely private and secluded from the other sites nearby. The river view was beautiful. It is definitely a small site- we had just enough room to pitch our 10 x 10 tent here. The outhouse situation is also less than ideal. The closest one was very close to another campsite and therefore didn't feel super private, and the other outhouse was a bit of a walk away (although much more private). Still, overall, I very much enjoyed my time camping at this scenic site and it is definitely worth a visit.

Weekend Trip to Draco Hill Nature Farm

Great little hideout. Feels like an adventure getting there even though it’s so close to town. The host was kind and considerate, nicely balancing being available and leaving me space for my solo retreat. Don’t miss the trails that go up the hill on the far side of the property! The woods and pond were a delightful contrast to the also lovely prairie trails. Looking forward to sharing it with my family next time. :)

Weekend Trip to Honey Bee & Bee Homestead

We chose this spot for the maiden voyage with our brand new Winnebago. The spot is beautiful and super private. The hosts were more than accommodating, even giving us some peripherals we had forgotten. It’s perfect if you have dogs because the entire campsite is fenced in. Walking trails are cleanly cut and a trip into Elizabeth for a burger and a beer (try Hwy 20 Brewery cut into an old church) is super easy. The pond is lovely and frequented by migratory birds. We also fished and caught the first good sized large mouth of the year. We only wish we could have stayed longer and will be back for sure.

1 night at n*Everland Barnyard Camping

n*Everland Barnyard was the coolest experience I’ve had in a long time! Bob, Xene and Lynsey were all very welcoming and accommodating. They were so fun to hangout with and the conversations were great. The amount of art on the property is amazing and eye opening when you consider what it all represents. It was such a peaceful place too. They even made me breakfast in the morning and took me on a mountain bike adventure through town to Horse Thieeves Cave! I had a blast and recommended this beautiful place to anyone. I will certainly be back myself! Thanks again Bob, Xene and Lynsey! Andy

Weekend Trip to Whispering Pines Events & Lodging

We got there as soon as it started getting dark and had to leave early the next morning, so we didn’t get to do any exploring. But it was a nice quiet and safe place for our family to stay.

The lake is fed by the Mississippi River and there is access to the lake and directly to the river for kayaking/boating and fishing, which is a popular reason people come to the campground. Another popular draw is that the Great River Bike Trail runs right through! It’s a beautiful ride from the campground to nearby Savanna, IL. There is so much to do in the surrounding area: hiking and climbing at Palisades State Park, restaurants, bars and shopping in Savanna, museums and more. But enjoying a peaceful time at the campground, having a bonfire, watching the sunset on the lake and seeing the stars at night is really what it’s about. True old school camping-enjoying the wildlife sanctuary. Get outside and relax. *We ask that our campers please arrive before dark to find their site and set up to avoid disrupting other campers. It gets really dark! We do not have street lights so people can see the stars. Learn more about this land: A Vintage campground est. 1943. Known for kayaking and fishing, this is a true campground. Instead of pavement, we have grass and trees but our best "amenity" is the peaceful outdoors! The Great River Bike Trail runs right through our campground. Wildcat Den State Park

Wildcat Den State Park is one of the closest state parks to Davenport, just a 25-minute drive southwest. Here, campers can hit hiking trails through rocky bluffs and see a historic grist mill. The Loud Thunder Forest Preserve is just across the river, too.

Buffalo Shores Park

On the banks of the Mississippi River, Buffalo Shores has 65 campsites for tent camping and RVs. Electric hookups and water are available, but RVers will find a convenient dump station as well. Tent campers love the hot showers and beachfront campsites on the river. Take advantage of the boat ramp for motor-powered watercraft or hand launch a canoe or kayak right from the beach.

Scott County Park
