Salt and Oak Farm

Learn more about this land: You'll arrive at our barn and home, probably greeted by a variety of animals. Walking past the pond and through the field towards the tree line, you'll arrive at our tiny cabin situated on a hill with the salt marsh below. The cabin is furnished with a full sized futon, a wooden bench, beehive working woodstove, and shelving. There are candle lanterns provided, however we suggest also bringing a few flashlights. Depending on the season we have farm vegetables and eggs available, kayaks available upon request to use to explore the salt marsh and harbors right out in front of the cabin. A short drive and you can find numerous hiking areas and beaches or take the longer 1 hour and 15 min ride to Bar Harbor. The cabin is not visible to the main house, though sound may travel. You'll have a beautiful view of the water facing west for sun sets. We access the water and trails around the fields foraging for berries with our kiddos and dogs, along with rotating the grazing animals and will provide ample space to respect your privacy. A small gas grill and cooler can be provided, Cabin has no electric or running water. Water can be accessed from the main house and/or barn pumps depending on season, however will need to be brought down to cabin. Outhouse is located nearby.

The sounds of the night are magical. Unleash your imagination and camp here away from the crowds that exist within the local Acadia National Park area which begins about 5 minutes away at Thompson’s Island and the bridge to Mt Desert Island. We are close to basic necessities, and a step away from the masses. We do educational tours daily and if interested these tours are arranged by reservation too. We may allow camping in Winter months but if it is between November and May it is very important to call and find out the accessibility as weather impacts everything. The shower will likely be unavailable in freezing months and some sites are closed. CALL and speak with a staff member before reserving. Self contained Adventure Vans and tent campers with Winter Gear and Rooftop Tents can be accommodated. Or If you want to have a solid roof , screens and a fabulous view ask about reserving our Cadillac Mountain View Loft or if the idea of being naked under the stars is appealing opt for our Raw and Rough site.! The cabin at White Duck Farm

We built this cabin recently with siblings and a few skilled friends to make a getaway place for the extended family. It is built on property adjacent to our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard planted, ramps seeded, and a producing strawberry hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months, and keep pekin ducks (the white ones) (now all in retirement!). The farm is 80+ acres with logging roads and is located on a quiet road. Food markets and some good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. If you come in the fall you should know that the roof is insulated but the walls are not - so layer up, bring extra blankets, and hugging the woodstove might be necessary! There is an outdoor shower, a nice outhouse, a campstove, oil lamps etc - so it's is very old fashion yet comfortable cabin stay!
