The Riverbend Cabin! Our sweet, off grid piece of heaven!

Riverbend Cabin and Sauna

David purchased the property from his parents and built the log cabin, sauna and privy with good friends who also constructed the Rope Bridge. Linda came along in 2000 and moved in with her dog. David was just finishing up a bedroom addition to the cabin, just in time! We got married on the property in 2002. Our family gathers together a lot throughout the summers and we have a ski commute to our vehicles during the winter. We love to share our cabin with those of like mind. It's truly a sweet spot!Learn more about this land:Our cabin in the woods offers you a sweet getaway. Think of it as Luxury Camping. No running water but fresh water is provided. Privy on premises. Gas stove. Wood stove. No refrigeration (coolers & ice works!). Grill. Fire pit. Basic kitchen items. Wood-fired sauna. Totally off grid. Located on the river.The cabin is suited for short term stays, though someone with a good comfort level of being in nature and off grid could enjoy a longer stay. Life slows down in our neck of the woods.

The cabin is 2 rooms. The large room consists of the kitchen, dining and as pictured here, the living room.

The cabin sits right next to the river on a bluff. It's a sweet, meandering river with a great swimming hole.

Laughing Pig Farm

Laughing Pig farm is a small family homestead. We grow as much of our own food as possible while doing our best to be good land stewards. Animals present: dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and geese. We are part of a Scottish colony established in 1873. The property is surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness to explore and relax in. Mountain bike and ski trails within a few kilometers. Bikes and skis available on site.

All locations feature primitive camping experiences. Short walks or longer hikes are both options for sites here in the beautiful St John River Valley.  Surround yourself in the ancient beauty of 88 acres of old-growth Appalachian hardwood, which has been untouched. Uneven ground is common. You will have complete privacy at any location you choose. Campfires are permitted within local regulations. Pets are welcome. There is no toilet on site so please plan accordingly.
