Fox Farm Campground

8 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents8 acres · Brattleboro, VT
Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

Quentin B.’s Land

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Monterey, MA
Lake Garfield was named after President Garfield and was where he had his summer house. My place is the original boatshed of the house. The treehouse was built 15 years ago as a sleepout to watch the stars. It's a pretty quiet Lake up in the mountains of the Berkshires and sits at 1200feet so the nights get a little crisp which makes for a great night's sleep.

Moon In The Pond Farm

5 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents35 acres · Sheffield, MA
Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a little bit of heaven. There are six separate sites to choose from. All are in separate, different locations around the farm, so you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be sharing a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. There's the BellTent--a bit of "glamping". And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are located in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, three others are under the trees on the edges of different farm fields, one is a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. Wanna hike? We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy preserved land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, off-road, gavel-road and country-road biking, snowshoeing, cc skiing and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm!! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is an alternative cultural mecca, there are also numerous entertainment opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

Skiing was so fun; this house is so cozy. We love your house! --Whitney & Lyla October 17-20, 2015 We had a terrific time staying at Whitman Woods. My sisters, their husbands and my husband and I enjoyed the hiking (although the trail was not discernible due to too many fallen sticks and, of course, the leaves), the fireplace, found some great things to do in the area -- e.g. Jiminy Peak, Hancock Shaker Village and dinner at Hops & Vines in Williamstown. My daughter and her husband and 2 twin 3-year old girls came for a visit and loved the leaves, the climbing structure, the toys downstairs and the book of poetry for kids. Thank you so much for providing this delightful place for our family get-together. We will have fond memories of our stay there for years to come. --Meg October 10-12, 2015 Such a perfect place for a weekend getaway. The kids loved the toys (indoors & out) and we all enjoyed the beautiful, cozy place in the woods. --Haleh, Kiran, Michal, Dani, Itay, Guy & Naomi September 26, 2015 - October 3, 2015 Another wonderful week at your great home! We love how secluded the house is and of course enjoy the quiet. --Manny & Colleen July 11-18, 2015 I believe this is our 8th time at Whitman Woods. As always, it was a wonderful retreat from our usual busy routine in Boston. That said, we found plenty to do. We visited four museums (Clark, MassMoCA, WCMA & Rockwell), saw plays at Berkshire Theatre Festival and Shakespeare & Co., and hiked the trails at the Clark where we also took in a free concert. We dined at all our old faves and found a couple of new ones -- Haflinger Haus in Adams and North County Pastaria in North Adams. We love the location of Whitman Woods because it's so secluded yet equidistant from all the things we love to do. As always, we found the house clean and well-stocked. It's always a pleasure. --Anne & Ken December 1, 2013 - March 31, 2014 Thank you very much for sharing your house with us. We had a great time and the kids say it is "their ski house." It is like a second home for all of us. See you next season. --Susana & Jeannette October 11-14, 2013 Thank you for the beautiful home in the woods. The four bedrooms, large kitchen/living area were more than we could've asked for. We loved the fireplace and the fact that there was plenty of wood for a roaring fire was great! We loved the large deck on the cool crisp nights. We have been coming to this area for 40+ years and this is one of the nicest homes/most well-equipped place we've stayed. We hope to be back next year. Thanks again. --David, Sandra & Family October 4-7, 2013 Thank you so much! We had a fantastic time in your lovely home. We have never felt so relaxed as we did this weekend. It is so peaceful and quiet here and was the best escape from our busy lives.
