Paddle up rivers, scale a sky-high fire tower, or ice skate on the lake when camping near Princeton.
Princeton boasts scenic campgrounds right in town at Riverside Park. RVs can roll into back-in campsites with water and electrical hookups, picnic tables, and firepits, while tent campers can snag a basic campsite with access to flush toilets and hot showers. Use the boat launch to drop a kayak into Rum River and paddle north to find canoe-in campsites with grill-top fire rings and picnic tables. Get a change of scenery in Mille Lacs Kathio State Park, roughly 30 minutes north. Campers can climb the 100-foot tall fire tower for panoramic views, then walk the boardwalk through Tamarack Bog—both are excellent choices in fall as the forest bursts with color. Year-round activities abound, as well—dive into Ogechie Lake in summer or explore on ice skates when the lake freezes over in winter. Campgrounds here offer pull-through RV sites with electrical hookups, primitive sites for tent and equestrian campers, and heated cabin rentals with screened-in porches. Amenities include firepits, picnic tables, drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station.
