I enjoyed staying at Peacetree farms. Nature, air, lake... The most valuable was the owners hospitality. They actually took extra mile efforts to help my staying become the greatest time I've spent on my short vacation. And I caught a big fish 🙂

Me and my husband loved the stay we had at Sunset Mountain , the campgrounds were beautiful, serene, and welcoming. Our host James was very accommodating and welcoming. The trail we walked was so peaceful and well maintained. The hot tub was beyond relaxing the jets gave the best massage. The bathroom was very clean. When we set up our tent the campsite was very clean normally I have to sweep an area for my tent but not here it was very nice how maintained the campgrounds were. We will definitely be back for more fun in the sun on beautiful Sunset Mountain!

Weekend Trip to Retreat to the Country

The yurt was cozy and comfy! As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe and secure, too! The view was beautiful, even before the trees filled in with leaves and the little trail down to the creek was very cute! My young kiddos would have absolutely adored playing in the creek! Lots of fun little touches that showed that it’s a place filled with care and love.

Loved it. So chill. My kids kept saying how nice JQ was. He taught my boy how to fish in his pond. Look forward to going back again. Really appreciate the experience!

1 night at Howler Bike Park Stays

Amazing bike park, beautiful surroundings and accommodations, but the best part was the owners and staff. All so friendly and helpful. They made us feel like family. I highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to D'Ranch at Clearwater

Tracey and her husband were more than accommodating for our trip. We had a great time camping out on there land. The camp sight was great we were right next to a creek which flowed in to the lake. We saw a bunch of deer walking up and down the creek. The farm is also great lots of friendly animals. I would definitely stay again

Quiet and peaceful. Campsites are very well laid out, with mulch paths. And the sites have access to a path through the woods that leads to the hot tub.

Absolutely loved this place! Hosts are wonderful, place is wonderful - excellent all around! While a part of me wants to keep this lil gem a secret, it’s just too good not to share! We will definitely be returning as often as our schedule allows - highly recommend AVO!!!

Weekend Trip to Seven Oaks

We stayed in the River Bottom section and absolutely loved it! John supplies wood and plenty of camp sites. There were hunting stands and view points in plenty of spots. We heard coyotes from the other side of the river at night and turkeys in the morning. There were views of the river close to the site. We used 4x4 to get down to the site but the dirt road was well taken care of. It did end up raining and John was proactive in reaching out offering to help us get out of that section if we needed it. He was always very communicative and I knew if I had a problem I could just reach out which was very appreciated. I would absolutely recommend this site to anyone wanting to camp near KC.

It was very comfortable! The beds were perfect to make it an easy camping trip if your just wanting to get away, there was even heat and A/C in the bunk house when we arrived there was even a note that said “welcome Quinn and family” with little candies bill is very thoughtful, and let us have a fire in his yard! He was great host! I would recommend this place! He also has a cabin, and also a yert. If you prefer more of privacy the yert is farther away and the cabin faces his cool pound with a dock!

Weekend Trip to Hawks Bluff Farm Campground

This is not your stereotypical camp ground. Yes it is a working farm with animals but it stands out in a good way. They are extremely responsive, accommodating and kind. Elizabeth and Mark both when out of their way to make it a special first camping trip for us. They were patient and friendly with my 8 year old who was super excited and interested in the rocks on site. We had farm fresh eggs brought to our site upon request and Mark went out of his way on multiple occasions to help use with set up and to make it a great time for our kiddo. The dogs are free roaming sometimes but we’re not aggressive, just curious and friendly. The sites are a work in progress but they are pull thought and have water and electric hookup. You can tell they’re always trying to make improvements. The view was amazing and the site was clean and quiet (except the over exited Mule who hilariously would express his excitement occasionally :) ) We will be back.

I had a wonderful stay with my husband and 10 month old at PeaceTree Farm. Katie was very welcoming, informative, and easy to text with if we needed anything. We wanted a warm stay in nature, get away from crowds, and enjoy a hike. We got it all at the farm! The lake is gorgeous. We’ll definitely be back with our camper van when it’s warmer.

Milo Farm is a wonderful place for connecting to nature. I camped in “Free Field” where there are many primitive sites surrounded by a creek. The grounds are well kept — the field is wilderness, with wide trails throughout. There’s a fully stocked and clean compost toilet at the top of the hill (5 min walk). Be sure to request the transport wagon as cars aren’t allowed near the campsites. I highly recommend Milo for anyone needing to escape the city to recharge their batteries in nature.

Green Acres at Red Brick Farmhouse

A quiet country retreat nestled in the picturesque rural outskirts of Higginsville, Missouri. Our place consists of three RV sites with water and electric hookups, two camping sites and one on-site travel trailer for rent. Wifi is available at all sites, except for Site 3. Green Acres at Red Brick Farm is located just 50 miles east of Kansas City off of I-70 at Exit 49. Once you are off of I-70 your drive is less than 8 minutes away on all blacktop roads. Site 2 is on gravel with 30 amp hookup and water, preferably best for RV’s and trailers 25’ and under. Site 1 and Site 3 are on gravel with a 20/30/50 amp hookup and water, best suited for larger RV’s and trailers. You may choose your site location, but due to the small number of sites we have we may have to alter your choice. This is so we can accommodate our guests in the best way possible, depending on the size of each rig. If you are towing a vehicle or pulling a trailer your total length should be 55’ or under. We will not accept Triple Axels. Site 4 and site 5 are for tents, pop ups, very tiny trailers and are in flexible locations. A 20 amp standard outlet can be provided for site 4 and site 5. For your use is a shower, toilet, and bathroom sink in our farmhouse basement. Please arrive before dusk, so you don’t disturb other campers. Site 6 Is the on-site travel trailer, ‘Ain’t She Cute’. No Pets are allowed when reserving ‘Ain’t She Cute’. The vintage style travel trailer is completely renovated and decorated with collectibles and antiques and is available for booking. It is furnished with a queen size bed, tiny kitchen, TV, wifi, and full size, not trailer size, bathroom. The trailer is for 2 guests, but an additional guest may sleep on the daybed, preferably a child or small adult. We live onsite in our 1920’s Prairie Style home which is also Red Brick Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast with three Guest Rooms available for booking. Look us up online. At your disposal, is the use of our outdoor furniture, a large yard to walk around in, a fire pit, a BBQ grill, and even a tire swing. Our restaurant, Red Shanty Cafe and BBQ, is located in the town of Higginsville, about 5 miles from Red Brick Farmhouse. Red Shanty Cafe is open Weds and Thurs, 11am - 8 pm and Fri and Sat, 11am - 9pm.

We've got all kinds of things to do for riders and non-riders alike! Start your day in Base Camp, the hub of activity at Howler. If you need a caffeine kick to get you started, we've got you covered with a specialty coffee drink, blended, or smoothie at Howler Coffee Shop! And, Chef Dustin is now serving breakfast with three delicious options to power you up for your day! Around noon and throughout the day, you can enjoy Chef's insanely-delicious food at the Growl Grill. Stop in the Welcome Center for bike passes, Howler merch, and bike gear. Are you shredding with us and need a new tube or tire change? We have got you taken care of in Howler Bike Co. next to the Welcome Center. We have beer and wine available at the Growl Grill, and you’re welcome to take your purchases to your tent to enjoy! New in Spring 2023, is our Skills Park and our Children's Play Area-complete with a mini pump track for Stryders or small bikes--and a beautiful cedar swing set! We also have a mile round trip Hiking Trail through the woods where you can see glimpses of riders shredding the mountain trails. Feel like a break at the top of the hike? We've got a picnic table so you can enjoy the scenery and eat some mouth-watering food from the Growl Grill! We also have our all-new bathrooms and showers, complete with shampoo/body wash and hair dryers. And you can keep all your necessary items near you while you ride with our all-new lockers. They're free and you only need to enter a four-digit code of your choosing to use them.

Milo Farm was established organically a few years ago. The energy at Milo so amazing we wanted to share! There's a story behind the sacredness of this land, Loni can share that with you if you ask! There are 5 different ecosystems at Milo, all which hold their own magic!🪄 The lodge was built then the camping sites, then the Hippie Trailer, which is located near the west woods near the Fairy Forest. Then the Bunkhouse was established, it's just past the barn on the north end of the property. The lodge, where the Airbnb and pool are is centrally located on the land. We rent out the lower level guest quarters for non-campers. It has two saunas. There are 2 stocked ponds, miles of trails, pool, Zen garden, farm animals and more. Feel the energy of the sacred land. Find the vortexes here! Bless Mother Earth and spend some time in nature at this magical place Great for the spiritually minded with several meditation spots and portals. Ask about availability of the art golf cart rental if interested. Loni can take you on a guided history, nature and meditation hike if you sign up for that. Whether road-tripping along part of the historic Route 66, vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks, or following in the footsteps of homegrown hero Mark Twain—Missouri is made for traveling. From Kansas City to St Louis, you’re never far from a state park—there are 38 to choose from—while the vast Mark Twain National Forest encompasses 1.5-million acres spread across seven different wilderness areas. Plan your camping trip from May through October to make the most of the forests, lakes, and wilderness areas, or cozy up in an RV through the snowy winter months.

Where to go

North Missouri

Kansas City, Missouri’s largest city, is best known for its jazz scene and BBQ restaurants, but there are also plenty of natural attractions to explore in the north. Head to nearby Weston Bend State Park to camp along the Missouri River, or go biking and horseback riding along the multi-use trails of Crowder State Park. Over on the eastern state border, Wakonda State Park has six lakes to choose from, while the Mark Twain State Park has family campgrounds in the Salt River Hills.

Central Missouri

State capital Jefferson City lies at the heart of Missouri, and just to the north, Rock Bridge Memorial State Park provides tranquil camping amid a backdrop of natural caves, streams, and woodlands. Summer campers flock to the Lake of the Ozarks region, where the huge reservoir is fringed with sandy beaches, golf courses, and restaurants. If you tire of the Ozarks camping resorts, Bennett Spring State Park makes a worthy alternative, renowned for its trout fishing.

St Louis and Southeast Missouri

At the meeting point of the Mississippi and the Missouri Rivers, St Louis is home to one of Missouri’s most visited attractions, the Gateway Arch National Park. Nearby, hikers can enjoy full-amenity camping at Meramec River State Park, while Castlewood State Park is renowned for its mountain biking trails, and Sam A Baker State Park is one of the region’s most visited. Alternatively, escape to the wilderness of the Mark Twain National Forest, where you can choose between tent/RV sites, cabins, or dispersed camping in the woods.

Southwest Missouri

Bordered by Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, the southwest is Missouri’s wild frontier. Venture into the Mark Twain National Forest to enjoy backcountry camping in the wilderness, rev up your OHV and tackle the off-road trails of St Joe State Park, or fish for rainbow trout in the stocked waters of Roaring River State Park. Finally, don’t miss the hike to Grand Falls. The 163-foot wide waterfall is Missouri’s largest, and lies just outside of Joplin.
