Pine Valley at Dillard Mill

5 sites · Lodging43 acres · Davisville, MO
Pine Valley is located in the heart of the Mark Twain National Forest and sits just a short walk away from historic Dillard Mill. Book the entire Farm or stay in an Airstream or Cottage. Group rentals Welcome! Pine Valley is on 43 acres of beautiful green pasture and woodland. Take a hike on one of the trails around the property or go fishing or wading on the Huzzah Creek. Spend your evening roasting marshmallows around your private campfire. Guests will have access to the 40 acres of land surrounding them. There are two ponds on the premise. Enjoy the quarter-mile walk to the old Dillard Mill Store, displayed in museum fashion at the entrance of Dillard Mill State Historic Site. Tour the old grist mill in working form, fish for sunfish, smallmouth bass and largemouth bass at the Mill, and take memorable photos. Just across from our main entrance take the half-mile trail through Mark Twain National Forest and skip rocks on the Huzzah Creek! Ask us about access to our private gravel bar on the Huzzah. You will pass it, and the private parking, on Dillard Mill Rd on your drive into Pine Valley We may or may not be on the premise during individual rentals. If there are any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out. Other things to note While this space provides most utilities and amenities you'd find at your home, it is important to note it is still a camping-style getaway. We do our best to treat the area, but you will encounter insects. AT&T has limited cell phone reception in the area, Sprint is very spotty, and Verizon is pretty much unavailable for service. We provide the best free wifi available to help with communication back to the real world, but it is rather slow. The best wifi reception is near the General Store/Courtyard. We try and keep the area well maintained. You may see ATVs/tractors on our property and on the gravel road. Pets are welcome for an extra $50 per stay. Please note our dogs may be on the property. They are friendly and well-behaved, although sometimes curious. Other guests may have no-leash pets as well. Park right next to your glamper. Arrive anytime after 4pm, just give us an eta to know when to expect you. If your glamper is not ready upon your arrival, feel free to explore our farm, visit Dillard Mill or head down to the Huzzah while we make it ready for your stay. Self Check-In is always the norm for added privacy. We won't bother you except to wave or maybe say hello if you're out and about. Please feel free to approach us with questions, niceties, or needs.

Katy Haus

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Marthasville, MO
Marthasville is over 200 years old and the last home of Daniel Boone. It is also a campsite of Lewis and Clark as they explored the Missouri River. The Katy Trail is right across the street from the Katy Haus. The trail was once the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, was converted to a biking trail in the 1980s, and is a part of the Missouri State Park. According to the locals, the original building at this address was the first hotel in town. Now, it is a 1 bedroom cottage made available to those coming to explore Marthasville, Missouri wine country, and the Katy Trail. Learn more about this land: A cute little house almost on the Katy Trail. Bring your bikes, bring your dog, bring your friends. After a long day of riding the Katy Trail and enjoying the local wineries and breweries, or maybe you are in the area celebrating a wedding, the Katy Haus is your place to kick back and relax. THE SPACE Located nearly on the Katy Trail in Marthasville, Missouri, the Katy Haus is in Missouri wine country and less than an hour from St. Louis. Bike shuttle and rentals available nearby (seasonal), the best pizza in the county is steps from the door, and wineries are a short bike ride down the Katy Trail (or a 2 minute drive down the road). Ride the Amtrak train to Washington and get a bike shuttle to the Katy Haus to ride the Katy Trail. The Katy Haus is a one level little house with 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom (handicapped friendly). It sleeps a total of 4 people and is dog friendly. We love daylight and filled the house with it. The open great room has extra tall ceilings, large windows, and a luxury king sleeper sofa. The full kitchen has everything you need except to make your own meals, including place settings, pots and pans, wine glasses, and both a Keurig and a regular coffee maker. The single bedroom has a king size bed with crisp white linens from The Distinguished Guest and light blocking curtains for sleeping late. And the bathroom, well, guests have commented that it is the best shower ever. Extra large in size and has a handheld shower head for extra accessibility. OUTDOOR SPACE Hot tub and a fenced yard is now in place for you and your doggies! Fully fenced for privacy with a nice grassy area for your doggie to play. Write your names on the walls inside Philly's to let people know you were there, too. Note that the MFA Co-op is directly across the street in front of the Katy Haus. Cabins near Sullivan guide

Overview

Some 70 miles southwest of St. Louis, Sullivan is a jumping-off point for big city adventures or for exploring the great outdoors of mid Missouri. The legend of notorious outlaw Jesse James lives on in kitschy tourist attractions in the area, with claims that James hid in nearby Meramec Caverns. Natural landscapes and public camping can be found near Sullivan at Meramec State Park and Onondaga Cave State Park. Private RV parks and glamping rentals offer a range of amenities nearby, with some providing waterfront camping along the banks of the Meramec River.

Where to go

Meramec State Park

Floating, fishing, hiking, and camping provide the core of a wide menu of activities to enjoy in Meramec State Park. The stream-fed Meramec River is at the center of it all, surrounded by dense woodlands and limestone bluffs. The recreation continues underground, with many caves to explore. A mix of tent and RV sites can be found at the onsite campground, with amenities ranging from basic to full hookup services.

Onondaga Cave State Park

Onondaga Cave State Park is like a twin to Meramec State Park, offering more riverside landscapes and an underground marvel to explore. Onondaga Cave is a National Natural Landmark, offering guided tours of the massive stalagmites and stalactites. Above ground, head up to the bluffs for panoramic river views. The year-round campground offers a mix of shaded basic and water/electric sites, with some close to the waters.

Hermann, Missouri

Just 50 miles north of Sullivan, Hermann feels worlds away, thanks to the rolling hills and German roots of this historic town. Located in wine country, Hermann is home to a number of vineyards, providing food and drinks in scenic settings. The German heritage lives on in the town’s restaurants and festivals. Private RV parks and glamping rentals dot the region, with a highly rated public campground found in the town park.

St. Louis, Missouri

Head northeast to find St. Louis. The grand Gateway Arch serves as an iconic backdrop to this vibrant river city. Below the Arch, visitors can stroll the cobblestone streets of Laclede’s Landing, along the Mississippi River. Stay busy roaming scenic Forest Park, home to many free museums, or catch a Cardinals baseball game before grabbing dinner on The Hill, a historic Italian neighborhood. A few RV parks offer camping near the heart of the city or head out to the suburbs to find a variety of public and private campgrounds.

When to go

Sullivan is primarily a three-season camping destination. Those exploring the scenery of the outdoors or strolling the town and city streets may enjoy spring and fall the most. Rolling hills near Sullivan pop with color in the fall. Summer is generally hot and humid, which sends many visitors to the stream-fed rivers. Winter is temperamental, with freezing temps and frozen precipitation always a possibility.
