Four-legged campers are welcome in the Cornhusker State.
From the vast farmlands of the Great Plains to the sweeping dunes of the Sandhills and the rocky hikes of the Panhandle—Nebraska provides plenty of ways to get outdoors, and the pooch in your family is sure to approve. Pets are allowed on the trails and at campgrounds in all Nebraska state parks and national parks, providing you keep them on a 6-foot leash and stay away from designated swimming beaches. Many state park cabins also allow dogs, although there's a one-time per-unit surcharge, and there are pet-friendly RV parks and resorts all around the state. Bring your dog along to hike the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail, admire the views at Scotts Bluff National Monument, or enjoy fall foliage walks (leaf-pile diving optional) at Chadron State Park. Or treat your pet to a stay at Lake McConaughy, where there’s even a dog-friendly beach.
