Weekend Trip to Juniper Mesa Camp

I fell in love with this place the moment I arrived. So magical. The views for days, and the creativity in the yurt were all so amazing. I even enjoyed a short outdoor shower with a view!! Kate is so welcoming and kind. This is a must do, especially if you're into a dark night sky!! I also enjoyed reading one of the books that was in the yurt (and I do not take time to read a lot). Ever so grateful for my time spent time there. Many thanks!

Excellent spot!!!!! We loved our stay at Art City. One of my favorite spots ever. We camped in a private spot, right in front of one of the installations. Everything was easy to find, and it was nice to be greeted by the host and shown around. We walked the trails in daylight and at night. Fantastic, can’t wait to go back. If you appreciate history and a quiet scenic place to stay this is the place. We feel fortunate to have experienced this special place filled with history. The buildings have endured many years of neglect, however through the dedication of the recent owner and his family they have taken on the task of repairing and reviving the past for future generations. It is a work in progress, but they have thoughtfully worked to create a time long gone. The Saloon is amazing and they turned an old delipapidated ice house into a stage theater. All of these are available to rent for special events. We had the pleasure of attending a chamber music concert, which was attended by local residents. We thoroughly enjoyed it along with meeting and chatting with some of the locals. We also took the tour, which is a behind the scenes look at the history of this place. There are a few RV sites with full hookups and accommodations available on airbnb. In the warmer months there is a pool, grill, and patio. There are no stores or gas stations, only a library & post office. If you are looking for the ultimate getaway from the hustle & bustle of life this is it. We highly recommend seeing and experiencing this special place while you can.

This was a very interesting find! Thanks hip camp! The owner was very friendly and responsive just as the reviews say he is. The art work and lit up trails made for an interesting walk with our dogs. We camped right outside my favorite art piece "Facing the Fear Beast." A nice, secluded spot tucked away. It was definitely worth the extra 3-4 hour drive to stay on the way home from our trip! Highly recommend if you appreciate art.

This campsite was like a fever dream. An awesome fever dream with giant lit up sculptures, spotless toilets and glorious outdoor showers with piping hot water. We stopped here in our campervan just for one night and was definitely worth it. Great campsite, cool art, great outdoor kitchen to use. We were bummed to miss out on the hot tub and sauna, which are only open on weekends. If you are on the fence, just do it and stay here. (Be sure to take a close up look at the Fear Beast. It’s incredible.)

3 nights at Juniper Mesa Camp

Kate was a lovely host! This was such a magical stay for my friend and I! We have been getting together and making art and music for over 30 years. This was so perfect for us to get off the beaten path, experience stunning views, and great hikes in between painting and music sessions! My first ever yurt stay was everything I could have asked for! Thank you Kate!

10 out of 5 stars—seriously. Art City is one of those rare places that feels like a destination in itself. You’ll want at least two nights here—there’s so much to explore during the day, but the real magic happens at night when everything lights up. The included showers and communal kitchen area were a great touch, and made the stay feel super comfortable. We’ll definitely be back!

The tiny house at Harvey's spot had more homey comforts than I anticipated! It was a truly beautiful place, located perfectly to be an excellent jumping off point to explore the area. Susanne’s place was nice and secluded. The bedroom had a connecting toilet and sink, both clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was rustic and clean. It was nice that pets were allowed. My dogs were welcomed and especially enjoyed the outdoors. Suzanne had a comfortable set of chairs by the stream which was walking distance. It was cool and peaceful.

Art City is absolutely perfect for a camper or a glamper. It's perfectly located the artworks incredible hospitality wonderful. The amenities are well worth it so thank you for being a part of my health journey. I highly suggest doing the spa pass and don't forget to walk the trails to see all the art. Beningno was super helpful and even brought me an aloe plant for my burn. Love this place and would stay again!

This is a great spot for people who love art, it is especially magical after dark when all of the sculptures are lit. The tent/ van campsites are nice, water and electric close by. Although we didn't use the hot tub, sauna, or kitchen facilities they were really well designed and clean. We would highly recommend!

Great communication before and after our stay, and our host was extremely friendly and helpful, orienting us to the amenities of the property, and explaining this incredible art project surrounding us. The camping facilities were first rate (loved the shower), and camping in the midst of this contemporary art was a wonderfully unique experience. The sculptures provide different experiences during the day and at night, and it felt like a privilege to wake up in an art park. If you like contemporary art, it's worth coming to Tucumcari for this singular camping experience.

Very well maintained site next to a small river. We were visites by ducks, deer and turkeys! Flat area with hookups for trailers, several flat areas near the river for tents, and super cute trailers for glamping. Bath house with heated showers and flush toilets. They even set up our fire ring

2 nights at Rancheros De Santa Fe Resort

Great Location! This was such a cute spot! I loved the peacefulness of the grounds and the close proximity to hwy 25 and downtown Santa Fe. It is also a short distance to Cafe Fina that has probably one of the best breakfast burritos in the country! The bathrooms were very clean and the showers hot. Staff was super friendly, attentive and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

Great location for an overnight RV stay. Ground was level, bathrooms, laundry, showers all clean and working perfectly. Very friendly, professional, and helpful staff on site. We stayed at 8 locations during our New Mexico road trip and this park was handsdown the best. Like, no competition. Everything was ready when we arrived and we just had to stop by the office to get our site number. Nice fenced kids play area and little dog park too.

Two Hawk Ranch

Two Hawk Ranch is comprised of 12 acres of high mountain valley meadows, hay fields, Acequias, trees and the Rio Chiquito. Yes, we are located at approximately 7,800ft elevation. My husband and I stumbled across this beautiful and serene property by accident in 2020 just as Covid hit. We feel blessed to be here and feel the need to share it’s calming, restful qualities. We have three adult children and have three grandchildren. We also have eight international children as we hosted international students for four years. You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing. Learn more about this land: Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator. Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon. Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well. The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later. In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc. We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay. Can't wait to see everyone this year!

Today the cows are gone, along with the vast tracts of land and the cowboys that managed the herds. The Lyons and Campbell Ranch Headquarters remains as a time capsule of an era past. The extensive adobe compound includes the 27 room adobe mansion of Cattle Baron Tom Lyons and his wife Ida Campbell, along with the fabulous Old West Saloon, Jail, post office, bunkhouses, Theater and Chapel. In the summer months enjoy the great swimming pool, and in the spring and fall enjoy the Mimbres design hot tub. Our RV sites are closed in the winter, but our Airbnb apartments are closed in January only. The Theater has just added a video cinema system to its live performance capabilities. Think "movie night". There is a lot of history here, and for just $10/person you can take the 2 hour tour of the historic grounds. The L.C. There is plenty of firewood here, but you will have to cut/break it to usable size. Please be careful. The authentic old west Saloon, Historic Main House, Theater, Gallery, Jail are all available to tour, and for workshops, retreats, Weddings, groups etc. The two hour guided tour of the museum in the main house, the "adobe mansion" of Cattle Baron Tom Lyons, is $10 per person for RV guests. The swimming pool and Lanai are located near the Sunset Site, RV Site #3. It will handle any size rig, 65'+, 20/30/50 amp. Big fifth wheels, Class A or C Motorhomes, no problem. It is our only pull through site. The Lanai by the pool has BBQ, pizza oven, sink, refrigerator, music, games, croquet, darts... Site for Sore Eyes, #4, is a smaller site with 20/30 amp electrical service. It is a "back in" site suitable for Class C, CamperVans, and smaller travel trailers. The other two RV spots are a short walk away, about 150 feet. Site #2, Gemini Site is good for up to 65', pull in, perfect for any size Motorhome or big rig, 20/30/30/20 amp with a unique double rig pedestal that allows a second 30 amp rig to hook up at your descretion. It also has its own shaded picnic area and picnic table. 4" sewer connection. Site #1 has a full tree canopy over head, perfect for Class C or Travel trailers. "Back in" site, 20/30/50 amp, water, 4" sewer and wi-fi. The Mimbres design hot tub is located in the bath house between the two RV locations. It is wood-fired and available on request. (currently off-line due to rennovations) It takes all day to heat it up and it is NOT recommended on windy or freezing nights as it is quite exposed. There is also a bathroom with flush toilet at the pool, along with fridge, BBQ, Wood fired pizza oven, misters and bar in the Lanai, and a guest laundry with an indoor shower nearby in the Spanish courtyard. There are additional bathrooms in the Saloon and the Theater. Karaoke at night in the old west Saloon used to be a regular occurrence on weekends before covid, let's see if we can get that going again this summer. The Saloon is equipped for live music as well, with guitar and bass amps, P.A. and electronic drum kit. The Saloon as well as the entire property is BYOB. The Saloon is not open to the public and has no liquor license. We like it this way. Wi-fi is available at all our RV sites, and is best in the Saloon and Gallery.
