Two Herons Farm

2 sites · Lodging12 acres · Portland, CT
Come stay on our working farm! Relax and enjoy all that our farm has to offer. You can enjoy nature and privacy or opt for a more interactive experience and join our morning or evening farm tour where you can interact with goats, sheep, mini-horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, and more. We are a small family farm where we raise animals and grow flowers/food. Our family home was built in 1739 and is situated near the street entrance. As you enter the property, you will see two cottages, the oldest corn crib in the county, and a beautifully restored 1800s barn. There is a vintage-style camper to the left of the barn, located in an area where you can have privacy overlooking the pastures. We live on the property and can assist guests with anything that they might need. Guests are welcome to stroll around the property and enjoy all it has to offer. We have a farm store and education center opening summer of 2025! Check our website to see classes and offerings that you might take advantage of during your stay. Please note, that we ask that guests do not enter the barn or fenced pasture without one of the farm owners (Molly & Diego). Our animals are accustomed to people, but livestock is unpredictable, especially to people that they do not know. There is plenty of area outside of the pasture that guests can enjoy. If you opt for a farm tour we promise that you will have plenty of interaction with our many animals.

Cabins in Long Island guide

Overview

In Long Island you're sure to find a campground that suits your camping style, no matter the occasion. Opt for an autumn weekend in a cozy log cabin with a wood stove or a summer work-from-home getaway at a vacation rental with wifi and a hot tub. From your rental with a living room, you can watch The Great Gatsby in the very place it was filmed, though with the sound of waves crashing in the Atlantic Ocean and the smell of smoke from an outdoor firepit, you won’t need a Gatsby-like home to appreciate your surroundings. For a unique Long Island experience, take a trip to Fire Island: a popular visitor destination with a lighthouse open all-year. Maritime history buffs will enjoy the climb to the top, while couples will pause at the romantic view. If you're hoping for a more glamorous vacation, spend some time exploring Sag Harbor, where the Hamptons nightlife is just as vibrant as the sunsets.
