1 night at Cherokee Waterfall Campground

We absolutely loved every minute of our stay at Cherokee Waterfall Campground!! Richard was an excellent host who was very communicative, helpful, & kind. The waterfall site is now our FAVORITE campsite of all time (& we’ve stayed at many sites, including several waterfall sites over the years)! It’s too bad we live so far away or we’d be regulars. The lounge chairs were comfy, the bundle of wood purchased was large, and having a hot shower was exactly what we needed after spending the previous couple days exploring Great Smoky National Park. Even with all that exploring of natural beauty, the highlight of our trip was spending the afternoon and evening by the fire, while soaking up the views and listening to the relaxing sounds of the waterfall! Thanks for sharing your wonderful little slice of Heaven with us!!

3 nights at Cherokee Waterfall Campground

This is the best campsite we ever stayed at. The sound of the creek and the view of the waterfall is spectacular. We hung around camp the whole time because it was so nice. Instead of using the full hookups which have no view of the waterfall we parked as close to the creek and enjoyed the view. Bring your friends and family, this site is huge with five fire pits and it's private bathhouse. Richard is very helpful and a pleasure to meet. We loved staying here and will be back. 1 night at Cherokee Waterfall Campground

We enjoyed staying at the creekside campsite. It's only a few miles from town but very quiet. The sound of the creek is relaxing. We have a 25 foot trailer and hooked up to the truck we are 40 feet total. It's a little tight but doable to get in. It's a bonus to have your own bathhouse on site. We loved staying here and will be back. Thanks Richard

Melissa and Adam have a little slice of heaven at their Coweeta Creek Campground! Our Premium Campsite #1 was right by the creek and with plenty of space between us and site #2. Trees, bushes, and hostas keep the landscape natural feeling. And our dog loved playing in the water! Neighbors are a good distance away, which helps you feel like you're away from it all. The site had great access to wi-fi, power, and water as stated in the description. We only wish we could have stayed there longer.

Weekend Trip to Appalachian Pond Campground

Although I only stayed one evening, I absolutely loved my spot at site #3 (actually #4). Motorcycle camping, coming from Florida this was just beautiful site on a hillside with a small creek below and hsd a sunset view of the mountains. John was able to go out and pick up some firewood for me, which was amazing. Extremely friendly and wholesome people, I would be happy to visit again. The gravel road up to the tent sites is a bit steep, but I had no issue traversing it on my street bike with saddle bags in the dry environment. Thank you again, guys!

Great spot with water and electrical hookups close to town. Very accommodating host. Yes you're basically in a suburban neighborhood, but he's put up some privacy screens. I'd pick these neighbors over the majority of sketch balls I've been parked near at rv parks and campsites when I've needed a plug. Perfect spot for vans that need to charge up.

1 night at At the Ridge Camp-Riverside Escapes

Loved this cabin camp! Had a great experience and the host was so nice and welcoming. Would recommend!

3 nights at Indian Creek Rental's Mountain Camp

We had a great time camping at Indian Creek. The setup was nice and private. We explored some if their local hiking trails during our stay. The carport at the campsite came in handy during poor weather our first night, we were able to setup our tent under the shelter. One simple recommendation: 1. Some hooks in the bath houses to hang towels or coats while bathing would be handy. Additionally, a small chair or bench to be able to sit down to put on shoes in there would have been nice.

Weekend Trip to JCO Campground at Lee Baysden Pond

Very nice and private site right on the water! Perfect for hammocking and relaxing. Saw a lot of wildlife and the sounds at night will put you right to sleep. Porta potty was nearby and stocked with toilet paper. Purchased some bundles of wood from the main office and they burned nicely. Would definitely recommend and come back!

Weekend Trip to Escape near Cape Lookout

Really great spot. Would be good for a small group too. Nice breeze all night long. At first was concerned of possible road noise but really none at all. Proximity to Cape Lookout ferry is a plus. Highly recommend and would stay there again.

Weekend Trip to Marshall Creek Farm

We stayed in the cabin. It was wonderful having such privacy with it nestled in the woods. Everything was clean and well maintained. They suppled firewood in crates for us to use in the fire pit! It was fun showering under the stars. Luckily, when we were there, it was warm during the day and cool at night so the evening shower water was warmed up by the sun. The bed was very comfortable, and Darin and Beth were kind and very responsive to any of our needs and questions. The location is close to Mt. Airy, Pilot Mountain, and Hanging Rock State Park. All three of which we visited. We plan to visit again soon.

Weekend Trip to Loafers Joy Meadow

Site 1 and 2 are very close, if both were booked you may have a privacy issue. However the view is great and the sites are reasonably priced, it would be very easy to book both and bring the whole family. The walk to the sites is uphill so be ready to get some exercise.

The Bunk Room is a simple room that sits above the bath house. This room has four twin beds - linens provided. This room has fans for the warmer weather and a space heater for colder months. Reservation is for the whole room.

Weekend Trip to Winding Stair Campground

We loved camping on Sarah‘s land. We rented the bunk room, which had four twin beds. The bathrooms were clean and the camp area is nestled in the mountains of North Carolina. We look for to our next visit.

The site was very nice and quiet. Very nice view and enjoyed the grassy area. It is definitely on a slope but was able to set up the tent just fine.

1 night at Indian Creek Rental's Mountain Camp

We stayed on here for 2 nights for our hiking trip.. and absolutely loved it. There was plenty of space at the primitive camp site (camping in the woods) and the Mountain View site for our group of 6 people (3 tents). The hot tub was perfect for our sore bodies after hiking for 2 days. The bathhouse was clean, modern, and spacious. The view from the Mountain View camp site is unreal.. we will definitely be returning for and hiking we do in the area! Very private, relaxing, and convenient well worth the price! 2 nights at Cherokee Waterfall Campground

Won't be long until this is a a top HipCamp in North Carolina. I've done 8-10 mile hikes where the pinnacle was not as rewarding as Cherokee Waterfall campground. Richard is a superb host: thorough and communicative yet left us our space on arrival, I got the feeling he understands why folks choose this style of camping... solitude and peace in nature! Plus he delivered dry firewood for a fair price. Full hook-ups on a level site / flushing toilet and hot shower /fire pit / privacy with a locked gate at the entrance. We'll be back!

After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. Dark Ridge Hide Out (Adults Only)

"Adults only" doesn't mean anything other than just "no children", so as to preserve the natural peace and quiet, and assurance that there won't be loud and unruly children on the property. Inquiries and booking requests received after 9: pm may not be answered until the next morning. Dark Ridge Hide Out, is a 20 acre parcel in the Blue Ridge Mountain's on the back side of the Beech Mt Ski Resort in a secluded quiet and safe community with less than a dozen homes in a one mile radius. Away from light and sound pollution. Except for an occasional passing vehicle "and often none at all from 10pm to 6am" all you will hear is the sound of the creek which runs through the lower section by the RV sites, cricket's and frogs at the nearby fish pond and only the light from the moon and star's in the clear mountain sky and fire flies. It is my home place with a tobacco barn and a big combination cattle/tobacco barn built almost entirely just by my Mom and Dad in early 1940"s. My parents and grand parents lived off of the land here and raised cash crops like cabbage, corn and tobacco, we also raised sugar cane and made molasses, we had free range chickens, as many as 50 honey bee hives and over 50 head of cattle, two or three hog's and of course a horse. There was four main fields; two for cow pasture, one meadow to grow hay "now Christmas trees" and the main one on my part where all crops were grown is where the camp sites are. I grew up helping with the crops and other farm chores, one was to go to the pasture and bring the milk cows in and do the milking every day before and after school, feed the hogs and chickens, gather the egg's, let the chickens out in the morning and close the chicken house in the evening to protect them from critters like opossums, raccoons and wildcats. This is where I grew up, my dad grew up and, near where my mother and both of my grandparents grew up. My house was built in 1905 the same year my dad was born. The campsites are on my 20 acre section section of the original 82 acres with the house and barns, the remainder went to my brother but now is out of the family. The section of Elk River with the Compression Falls "45 ft high" and Twisting Falls which is part of Pisgah National Forest is less than two miles from here, and an old logging road going around the mountain above the river for about three miles to another Falls "Elk River Falls, 65 ft high" is a great place to hike or mountain bike. You will be free to explore and hike any part of my property except the house and out building's. The pond's are full of Trout and Blue Gill fish that are like pet's they love little pieces of bread. You can feed the fish but no fishing.

JCO Campground at Lee Baysden Pond

We strive to create an environment for nature viewing, stargazing, fishing, and unwinding in nature as camping should be. the historic pond was originally much smaller. We have records that date back to our 6th Great-Grandfather, Joab Fountain, who received a royal grant from the crown in 1773 for the property and then just a grist mill, blacksmith shop and old general store. The property was passed down through the Fountain family until the late 1910's. Originally a creek dammed up for the purpose of the mill it was later dug out in the late 1940's by Lee Baysden. In a long story (that can soon be found on our website/blog) the land was auctioned off in 2007. This landowner dug it out and made it the 22-acre lake that it is today. The property also features 2 smaller ponds and surrounded by woods, swamp, and farmed fields, a total of 84 acres. Divided by Duplin and Onslow County line making it very unique! Chinquapin, NC The store/office is the original detached kitchen from his homeplace, which is the white house just up the street. We still use this today and it has Mr. Lee Baysden's handwriting in the store that states opened June 1956. The pond was owned and fished until the late 1990's. A hurricane damaged the dam and land was sold sometime after. The next owner dug the pond into the lake it is today and fixed the dam. In 2020 My husband Tyler, and I decided to buy the Pond when we saw the signs up for sale in the height of the pandemic. We created JCO, Juniper Creek Outfitters and Guide Service, fall 2020 and began to restore the lake and land to better than ever! We introduced our first Glamping A-Frame cabin in 2021 and in 2024 the Floating Cabin. We host community events such as fishing tournaments, fireworks, music, movie nights, and food trucks. We also host special occasions in the cabins from engagements, honeymoons, birthdays anniversaries. Youth groups and scouts also welcome. Ask about special pricing. Our camp office/store is opened most weekends or by check-in requests and fishing passes available 7 days a week online from sunrise-dark. Our lake features fishing for Bass, Crappie, Bream, Catfish, Bowfin, varieties of Panfish, and more. Add them as extra guests Pull down a paved road and get out of your car and sit down at a picnic table in front of a private waterfall! This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends! We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit. There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. 10/9/2024 NOTICE: We had some damage to our road due to Hurricane Helene that made it impassable. It has since been repaired and is opened to traffic. There are still some remaining rough areas, but the road is easily passable by passenger vehicles and RV's up to 28ft. Our site was once part of a much larger farm growing tobacco and raising cattle and other farm animals. The existing tobacco barn was built in the early 1960's. The concrete pad used for RV camping was used to store silage for the cows. The non-potable water source is a mountain spring that has been used on the farm since the 1930's. While many tobacco barns in the area have been torn down for their rusted tin roofing and rustic siding, we have worked to restore the barn and preserve its history.

Lake Linda

Lake Linda is a private 6 acre lake that's located on our family's 40 acre property. We are just 5 minutes from Surf City, Topsail Island, and 20 minutes from both Wilmington and Jacksonville. You'll often see ducks and geese on the lake. Lake Linda is a peaceful place, but conveniently located within a few minutes of food, entertainment, and of course some beautiful beaches. On the back half of the property, we also have a small family farm. Pasture raised pigs, chickens, cows, sheep, goats and we even a have a couple of turkeys! We sell farm fresh eggs as well as poultry, beef, and pork, all raised right here on our farm. Our pork & beef is USDA inspected and processed! We try to help our farm animals have a great life while they’re with us. We have two sites available by the lake! One site is on the corner of the lake by the dock. This lakeside site has a 30 amp service. This site does not have water or sewer, however we have 2 full bathrooms in our bathhouse, one even has a pet wash station! The bathhouse is only about 1000 feet away, and you’re welcome to walk or drive down to it! We can also help you fill your water tank and you’re welcome to dump in the full hook up site as long as there isn’t someone camping there. The second lake site has a beautiful view. This lake view site has 110 outlets as well as water. It does not have sewer hookup, but we have 2 full bathrooms in our bathhouse, one even has a pet wash station! The bathhouse is only about 1000 feet away, and you’re welcome to walk or drive down to it! You’re also welcome to dump in the full hook up site as long as there isn’t someone camping there. We also have 2 camper sites available on the farm, as well as a few tent sites. The farm is just a short walk from the lake, so no matter which you choose, you can enjoy the best of both! This is a working farm, we have cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, & turkeys! You’re welcome to meet & enjoy them! We even have a calf that was born here, and we have baby pigs regularly as well! We’ve also recently added a bath house, with two bathrooms. Both have stand up showers, and one even has a pet wash station! We have 2 gas grills on the property for your use as well! One is by the lake, the other is on the farm. We also place picnic tables at all sites before check in!
