Creekside Airstream Glamping!

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Charleston, SC
We bought this Airstream in 2022 as an old shell. It was junky and a mess, and not much in it other than old scraps and junk. We renovated it in 2022 and 2023, and turned it into a cozy, midcentury modern style Glamper. We tried to plan for every comfort you could want or need, from wifi and a smart TV, to a cute bathroom, Keurig and an Air Fryer. We hope you love it as much as we do. Please note, it is tight quarters, especially for more than two people and large framed people. For this reason, we only allow two guests. We live on a busy street, but the backyard is peaceful and serene. The airstream is parked next to our creek, where waterfowl abound. Only one vehicle allowed.

Opossum Hollow

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Slater Marietta, SC
Welcome to Opossum Hollow in the quaint mountain town of Travelers Rest! Our partially restored 1984 Airstream Excella – lovingly referred to as "`Possum Holler"– is situated on the same property as our home. With a covered space for parking and a 35 foot skylight deck, this outdoor space is designed for cool evening lounging and warm afternoon napping. We worked with a number of local artisans to design and create the entire space, ensuring most every element is handmade, up-cycled, and recycled! KITCHEN & DINING We created an outdoor kitchen on the covered deck with a small gas grill, a huge double sink, and an ice bucket for cool drinks. The vintage wicker dining table is the perfect place to play a game of cards with a glass of sweet tea. There is a kitchen in the Airstream as well, with a functioning gas stove and oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, and electric kettle. The dinette inside is perfect for morning tea or reading a book in the cool early mornings! THE LIVING SPACES Our part of the country is home to a few loving country cats, and we've learned to live as they do. Which is why we've added a lovely daybed which catches the evening sun for a perfect sunset snooze. The sun loungers on either side of the fireplace were made by local craft furniture designers, who created these specifically for Opossum Hollow! The outdoor fireplace is fully functional, and we have firewood available for you by request! We have a lovely handmade picnic table in the garden, which is available for you to use if you want to watch the on-site honeybees gather pollen from flower beds. BATHROOM There is a fully functional outdoor bathroom behind the Airstream, set up for you to enjoy bubble baths under the stars or afternoon cool showers. We've even set up a space for wine glasses beside the tub if you fancy an evening to unwind! We have your towels, robes, and blankets all set, so just show up ready to relax. The bathroom inside the Airstream is not functional, and can be used as a vanity. 👉 Please note, there are cats on the property. They lived here before we did, so we simply coexist together and they will likely be on the deck from time to time. They are never inside the Airstream. 👉 Please note, there are honeybees on the property. Honeybees are not wasps, and they are not aggressive. If you have an allergy to bees or wasps, please take caution and come prepared with anything you may need. AROUND TRAVELERS REST Cycling – The start of the famous Swamp Rabbit Trail is just under 2 miles away Hiking - Caesars Head, Wildcat Wayside, Paris Mountain, and more! Silvia, the '72 Airstream

1 site · Lodging3 acres · Travelers Rest, SC
LISTING DESCRIPTION 3 Acre Mini Farm - Pet Friendly, Peaceful Mountain Views & Ponies! Perfect for girls’ weekends, cyclist stopovers, singles, couples & small families - anyone who wants to get away, relax & recharge. TR's many cool shops & restaurants are <10 min away, Greenville & Hendersonville, NC are <30 min, Asheville is <1 hr. The ponies, mountain & meadow views, bubbling creek, nightly stars, moon glow, graceful old oaks and country peace & quiet are all free of charge. YOUR SPACE It’s a known fact that the Airstream camper is in a class by itself, and a 1972 Airstream Ambassador that's 90% original is a rare treat. Our girl is one incredible aluminum land yacht that we've christened "Silvia" after a hit song of '72 - Silvia's Mother" by Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show, and because, well, she's silver. She's been well cared for over the past 50+ years, and only the things that really matter have been updated - bathroom, larger instant water heater, new AC, microwave, fridge, Keurig coffeemaker, memory foam mattresses with latex toppers, dedicated WiFi, surge-protected USB outlets – but as far as everything else, from the '70s vintage cookware, utensils, linens, books, games, puzzles, and many '70s music CDs to discover, you'll really dig her vibe. GUEST ACCESS Guests have a gated private double entrance/exit driveway. The entire guest area is fenced/gated, guests have access to the lower property where the ponies are, seating on the bridge for a. m. coffee or p. m. libation. Beware though - the ponies may come begging for a sip. If you do enter the lower property to hang out with the ponies or check out our mini farm, PLEASE REMEMBER TO 1) close the gate behind you, 2) make sure the kids and pets are always under your direct supervision. HOST INTERACTION WITH GUESTS We live in the house on the property, but unless you need us for something you won’t see us at all, and we won't disrupt your stay. You may see us coming and going, feeding the ponies, doing yard work, etc., but we like our space and quiet living, so we won't invade your portion of the property during your stay. We're just a text away. OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE We're just off a 2-lane country road that the local folks use as a cut-through during the morning and evening rush hours, so traffic can pick up a little then, but it quickly settles to typical country road traffic for much of the time, ebbing off to intermittent during the evening and overnight.

Airstreams in South Carolina with a private bathroom guide

Overview

Rich in Southern heritage and hospitality, South Carolina boasts the good looks to match its personality. Golden beaches and sandy barrier islands dot the Atlantic shore, the forested peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains rise in the north, and lush marshlands fringe the Lowcountry. Outdoor adventurers can explore SC’s seven national parks and 47 state parks all year-round, and camping options are plentiful, whether you choose a drive-in, hike-in, boat-in, or equestrian campsite, or book a camper cabin. Summers in the Palmetto State averages a balmy 90°F, but it’s best to avoid the fall hurricane season if camping on the coast.

Where to go

Pee Dee and the Grand Strand

The Pee Dee River runs all the way from the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina to Georgetown on the Atlantic Coast. This northeastern slice of South Carolina is best known for its Grand Strand beaches, whether camping at the hugely popular Myrtle Beach resorts, bird-watching at Huntington Beach State Park, or teeing off at one of the many coastal golf courses.

Lowcountry

Hemmed in by the Savannah River and the Atlantic Coast, the southwestern lowlands are an idyllic stretch of marshlands, barrier islands, and coastal towns. Hunting Island State Park is the state’s most visited park, and a paradise for bird-watchers and campers, while RV parks dot the beaches of Hilton Head Island. The palmetto-fringed beaches of Edisto Beach State Park are a favorite for summer campers, and James Island County Park, just outside Charleston, is a crabbing hotspot.

Midlands

The state capital Columbia dominates the rolling hills of South Carolina’s Midlands, and the region’s highlights all lie within easy reach. Family campgrounds dot the shores of nearby Lake Murray, Sesquicentennial State Park has a woodland campsite and boating lake, and part of the 500-mile Palmetto Trail passes through Poinsett State Park. Nearby, Congaree National Park has hiking and kayaking trails, two campgrounds, and backcountry camping.

Upcountry

The Blue Ridge Mountains tumble down over the border from North Carolina, and South Carolina’s mountainous north is a natural playground of forested valleys, lakes, and waterfalls. Greenville is the starting point for exploring the north, from where you can hike the 3,533-foot summit of Sassafras Mountain, the state’s highest peak; camp amid the mountains in Table Rock State Park; or explore the multi-use trails at Paris Mountain State Park. For backcountry camping, it doesn’t get much better than the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, which links the Jones Gap and Caesars Head state parks.
