Heirloom Hamlet

5 sites · RVs5 acres · Ridgeland, SC
Why buy a home when you can build a fairytale? Hi, I'm Curt. My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are your average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment. We are trying to figure out if a family can use their own hands and some grit to handcraft a life that you don't need a vacation from. Or better yet, that you would vacation to. Have we done that? You be the judge. About 4 years ago we left our South Florida handcrafting furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between some of the old fashioned world that we'd found ourselves missing, and the handful of modern advancements that were actually beneficial. All while keeping it classy. At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cabins, installing solar, composting, planting, and building toilets that are better for our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature. Ani and I are big believers in being mindful and respectful of our environment wherever reasonable. So, we are incorporating both alternative and municipal utilities as they can fit into our homestead design and limited budget. Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" small living can feel. We all have personal priorities and those will vary greatly, and that's okay. But no person should be so self-absorbed that we have completely shut out the importance of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our fellowman. After all, if we don't have that, what do we have? To be completely transparent, though, the creatives in us also would like it if we inspired onlookers to possibly look at their own space and life a little bit differently. We've personally found it to be so fulfilling to distinguish real desires and needs from the ones we've been groomed to pursue, and then work to make them a reality. We've found it energizing to witness our fellowmen and women pursuing a dream. We'd like to be a stimulating memory along any person's journey. Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, and that they can appreciate some of our old-fashioned ways. That, as our paths cross, we won't be held to a business-first standard that we have worked hard to remove ourselves from. We realize everyone has a right to be themselves, but our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm.

Lakewood Camping Resort

191 sites · RVs, Tents300 acres · Myrtle Beach, SC
Lakewood is a massive oceanfront playground for families. We are almost three hundred acres of family fun, with a half mile of beach, a full sized water park, two pools, a mini-golf course, nearly a dozen sports venues, bikes, pedal boats, kayaks, canoes, and the best atmosphere for celebrating Camping Culture you’ve ever experienced! Lakewood stretches along a full half mile of beach. That’s more sand between your toes than any other resort on the Grand Strand! Lakewood was the first to install its very own Water Park! Here, we have our olympic-sized pool, our giant water park slides and lazy river, our kiddie pool, our kid’s water park, live bands, deck space for you to catch some rays and even private pool-side Cabanas. We also have an indoor pool with a jacuzzi, and even a sun tanning deck! Myrtle Beach is the Mini Golf capital of the world but you don’t need to venture outside of the resort to play! We have our own 18-hole putt-putt course, River Town Golf! And right off of River Town’s docks you can launch into one of our many lakes on a pedal boat, a canoe, or a kayak! Or, right out front, grab yourself a bike and explore our almost three hundred acres! We also have oceanside basketball courts, pickleball and volleyball courts; as well as a beachfront playground, a disc golf oasis and a manicured cornhole pavilion. And you’ll never go hungry or thirsty with our Beach Bum Coffee House, Trading Post Snack Bar, The Crazy Mason Express & The Chicken Joint and our oceanside food truck options. Now, these are only some of the amazing things there are to do around Lakewood. We hope you’ll explore, meet people, stumble into incredible experiences, and let yourself be nature’s guest, at the resort that’s been changing the way you camp, since 1959.

Isla Mas Afuera

4 sites · RVs, Tents4 acres · Murrells Inlet, SC
3.5 acre property, last remaining part of old inlet horse farm, with plenty of natural buffers from the few neighbors in our vicinity and between our camp sites, as well as the road. So close to everything the inlet area has to offer. Beaches, tidal inlet with boat ramps, Waccamaw River with boat ramps, restaurants, shops, bars, State Parks, nature preserves, fun attractions and much, much more, all just moments away. We are set up as a “primitive” camping experience, the property is kept very natural, unmanicured for the most part, little to no herbicides or insecticides used here. It’s a work in progress, is difficult for me to tackle chores due to physical disabilities, so some private areas are disorganized at this time. I live here full time, with two cats & 5 chickens whom are all free range. I live here in a double wide by myself, two outdoor cats. Deer, fox, rabbits, hawks and the like are common visitors. This is brand new to me, lots of improvements to be made in the future to make a guests stay even better, so for right now it’s bare bones. Can accommodate tents or certain campers. No pump out, no electricity or running water for “sites” yet, if ever, but running water is here and available for free. Additions to come soon: outdoor shower, available compost toilet available for rent while here, fresh herbs, vegetables, fresh local eggs, firewood, and covered gathering/ cooking area (not built yet) and much more, I’m really excited. Open to idea’s and options. No fireworks/ gunfire allowed at anytime, no “parties”, but gatherings, campfires, games and fun always welcome. I prefer meeting guests apon arrival to answer any questions and help all feel comfortable. I do have medical conditions that may prohibit it at times though.
