Weekend Trip to The Needles Outpost Campground

Needles Outpost is literally surrounded by Canyonlands NP and Bears Ears National Monument. This off grid campground, run by the effervescent Amber and ultra handy Caleb, offers numerous sites for all types of campers. We stayed for 3 nights and were impressed by how respectful everyone was. The little store offers a variety of products including ice cream bars, a treat in the desert. Distant views across the desert, expansive stars at night, spectacular sunsets, great location for exploring the Needles section and Bears Ears make this a terrific place to stay.

Weekend Trip to Sandy Beach

My wife and I celebrated our 29th anniversary at a hipcamp near the west shore of Yuba Lake. The RV spots were about 100 yards from the sandy beach, just a 10-minute walk to the shoreline. Though the campsites were quite primitive, they featured level gravel pads and large movable fire pits, allowing us to conveniently adjust the placement of our fire. From our RV pad, we enjoyed a stunning 360-degree view, with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. The area was private and offered great opportunities for exploration. Our dog loved the off-leash experience and the open range, making it a perfect spot for flying kites or drones around the lake. I would consider camping at this location again.

Such a great stay and highly recommend! As someone who travels solo, it’s so nice to find stays that make me feel safe. Danny is such a kind host and is a big contribution to why I felt so safe. Ringo & the animals were fun to be there and made the stay so unique. Teepees we’re set up great, felt cozy, and the art on them- you’ll have to ask Danny about, it’s beautiful. If youre looking for a stay that will fill your heart, experience nature, and have access to amenities- this is it!!

Weekend Trip to Indian Canyon Ranch

Staying at Joe's ranch was delightful. Everything is well thought out and organized, especially the central group area with facilities for cooking, cleaning up, and having a fire. We had our pickup topper so did not stay in one of the on-site trailers (or buses). Given the general level of attention to detail, I would expect them to be comfortable and well maintained. If our dogs were writing this review, they would say that they never wanted to leave. Playing with the resident dogs and running around off-leash was a highlight of the trip for them.

Weekend Trip to HTR Moab

This was solid, nice facilities. Hot showers and spacious kitchen area. The primitive tent sites are very near the main highway, which is well trafficked and fairly loud. Light sleepers beware. Wasn’t an issue for us but something to consider.

2 nights at The Needles Outpost Campground

Needles Outpost was truly a wonderful spot. Nestled against a redrock formation among the junipers, it has private as well as sites with stunning views available. The store has a chest freezer full of frozen delectables in addition to the regular necessities for camp and pantry. Amber is a delightful host and made us feel welcome. The bathhouse has 2 stalls and 2 showers with 1 sink. It was very functional but in need of some upgrading. We enjoyed the close proximity to the Needles District of Canyonlands. The hiking there is great.

It was very quiet and vast. Lots of space. Was able to watch Chris feed the fish in the morning. It was a good spot to rest and recharge.

We are Caleb & Amber who enjoyed managing this little oasis in the middle of the desert from March to June of 2017 when we decided to purchase the business & make it our own. This is a dry, rugged campground with a bathhouse that provides coin operated showers and flush toilets. In addition there is little old rustic camp store placed in the middle of nowhere where we provide fuel, snacks, firewood, ice, showers, cold drinks & more. Indian Canyon Ranch is a rugged, isolated, off grid property which focuses on enjoying the outdoor beauty of our little corner of the spectacular American South West. Please be advised, that during heavy rain four-wheel drive may be necessary but in all cases low clearance vehicles are not ideal on the last section of road but if you arrive before dark and go slow any vehicle can make it. If you arrive after dark the last bit of road looks more challenging than it actually is due to shadows on the surface caused by the head lights. Units are not heated. Please plan to show up before dark for the best experience and ease of finding the location. Indian Canyon Ranch is proud to be an independent, off grid property with limited solar power and water available. There are no RV hook ups available but there is limited solar power in the rental units and in the communal area but not in the primitive campsites. Campsites are primitive camping only. Showers in the main communal area are solar powered and only hot with the sun and for an hour or so after sunset Joe purchased this property in 2008. At that time, it was 8 acres, and it is now at 20 acres continuous property. The ranch is situated 2 miles off the highway down a bumpy dirt road on the edge of the national forest, this gives you a feeling of being in the wilderness. The south and east sides are boarded by canyons and ruins. All other private properties in the area are 10 acres or more so are well spread out and sparsely populated. All the structures on site were brought here piece by piece and were salvaged from construction projects in Yosemite and Grand Canyon national parks. Water is manually hauled in and the power in the kitchen area is solar generated so please be conscious of water and power use.

My requirements for were as follows: several acres for my horse friends, hiking trails from the back door, a kick butt view, few neighbors, a resident bird of prey (we have a bald eagle and a Kestrel!), and a really unique place to live in (we live in the loft attached to the garage). This place had it all. After getting a message from a roadrunner (seriously) I went to the real estate office and bought the place. We made renovations to the house (and of course we are always working on renovations! A few months later we had our first guest. Learn more about this land:Wake up to coffee on the patio, the sound of horses milling about, and the brilliant Vermillion cliffs. Watch while the local ravens, peregrine falcons, red tail hawks, and other wild life provide the morning entertainment. Take a walk down the path into the Pinon-Juniper Forest and find native pottery scattered about (please leave it where it lies!) remnants of our native ancestors that once occupied this sacred land of red dirt. We are a private 3 acre horse rescue & people sanctuary. Two local trailheads roughly a miles walk from the backdoor, or you can walk down the dirt path out back and find your own trail. We are committed to being as organic and sustainable as possible. At our place you will find organic bathing and cleaning products, organic sheets and pillows, we even have two cotton and wool beds for you (free of chemicals!).
