Just south of Salt Lake City on the western shores of Utah Lake, Provo makes a great base for exploring the Utah Valley. While many RV campers use Provo as a jumping-off point for exploring area attractions, there's plenty to do right in town, from learning about dinosaurs at the BYU Museum of Paleontology to hiking along the Rock Canyon Trail just west of town. You can park your RV for the night at Utah Lake State Park, which provides water and electric hookups, or set up camp in Deer Creek State Park, a half-hour drive northwest of town. You'll also find RV and trailer camping options on private farms and stretches of land just outside of Provo, an ideal option if you're visiting from late winter to early spring, when many area RV campgrounds are closed. Provo RV amenities may include picnic tables, dump stations, free wifi, and full bathrooms.
