Compass Rose Farms

12 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents40 acres · Port Townsend, WA
This magical 40-acre cultivated ecosystem will wrap around you and leave you enchanted. Enjoy this peaceful retreat site truly a place to rest and reconnect with the earth and yourself. A great place to stop for the night but one day will not be enough to wander the grounds, drink a cup of hot tea from the herb garden, sit on a bench talking to ancient trees, walk the labyrinth, wander the sacred Grove, and camp under the stars. There's so much to see here from the rose and vegetable gardens to the orchards and sheep. Spend the morning sipping tea in the greenhouse, an afternoon walking the gardens, and an evening watching the moon and stars from the observatory platform. Take a tour or a workshop and learn to spin yarn from our Icelandic sheep. bring your knitting, bring friends, or just a book and spend a few days here on the land. Contact us about small gatherings and retreats We love to host groups. NOTE: This is a working farm we have animals, dirt, sticks, bugs, and poop, and lots of opportunities to "connect" with Nature. All of our amenities are shared spaces, designed to foster community. You will find good signs with clear communication here. All of our lodgings are off-grid with no electricity or running water. Water, electricity, and wifi are available in the kitchen, garden, cafe, and lounge areas. Please bring battery-operated lights, bedding, and a pillow, unless otherwise noted. We request that campers check in before 8 pm. Remember you are coming to someone's home, Please communicate if you are coming in late so we can accommodate you. Camp Keyser Forest Camp

8 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents5 acres · Swede Heaven, WA
Camp Keyser is a wooded 5 acre parcel in the mountains, near mountain loop highway - in the center of everything wonderful in the northern cascade mountains. We have one private cabin and 6 campsites. Tent campers will enjoy the lush landscape of a mature forest with sites along the (seasonal) Thirsty Creek. Nearby (3 minute walk), users can contemplate views of Whitehorse Mountain, Jumbo Mountain, Glacier Peak, and Whitechuck Mountain. This part of the Stillaguamish valley and the adjacent Mountain Loop Highway is known for a great selection of hiking trails, at all skill levels. It is perfect hub for all of your outdoor interests. The trailhead for the summit of Whitehorse Mountain is just a mile away, as is Old Mine Road trail (45 minute hike ending in 2 waterfalls). A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle. Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas. Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River. In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

Valhalla Tree Farm

6 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents100 acres · Arlington, WA
When Earl and Laurine Ingebright found an ad in a local paper for sixty acres near Arlington, in 1958, they knew it would be a place for family fun, relaxation, and their own private forest. What they could not have anticipated was the sheer diversity of projects, parties, and fun that the family would pursue on the property over the coming generations. From forest stewardship and timber harvesting, to campsites and trail construction, to rock concerts and wine making. While they have since passed, these founders began something truly amazing; A tree farm that showcases the successful accomplishment of almost every objective a forest landowner could have. Timber production, wildlife, aesthetics, recreation, and forest resiliency. Valhalla embodies all these things with so little conflict as to look effortless.

Thistle Dew Forest Oasis

6 sites · Lodging, RVs5 acres · Quilcene, WA
5 acres feels much bigger because it is surrounded on 3 sides by state land. Neighbors will never build next door. This is off grid, composting out house; private and quiet. Two tiny cabins available. Shower cabin with sink. We have no intermittent power or WIFI. Nearest town is 5 miles away, so come prepared. No RV's bigger than a van or class b (truck W/camper ok) because There's a steep part of the one-way driveway from the main road at first and it is a blind corner and steep for about 200 '. Listen first then gun the engine. You might want to get out and and see what you're up against. When it's wet. it's slick. Ps, my camry makes it fine, but no low cars advised. For RV's No hook ups. $30 per night. No sewage) A community fire pit and lots of wood can be found. We need help burning it, when no fire ban is in effect. A propane cook stove, fire ring and covered outdoor kitchen Prep space is available. Lots of birds and wildlife. We are close to Dabob bay but it is not immediately accessible. This is a great base for hikers who need some comforts before hiking the great Olympic Mountains! Forage for wild herbs and berries. Go on a fishing trip in many great rivers and lakes and salt water in the sound. A million frogs croak at spring and summer! Black bears won't bother you, if you see one. They're shy, leave them be. Coyotes howl at night. Cougars are not unheard of. It's pretty wild here! Walk our trails, and soon with plant identifiers and information stations. Find what Hood Canal has to offer!

Secluded Olympic Cabin ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)

1 site · Lodging2 acres · Brinnon, WA
Incredible location! This sweet cabin is nestled at the base of Mt. Jupiter, directly between Dosewallips beach and the Olympic national Park. There's lots of gorgeous, mossy maples, shaggy cedars, and elk herds roaming free. The Cabin is easily accessible from the road, and has parking available. There's a secluded fire pit behind the cabin with a seasonal stream running by. Its a relaxing place to hang out for a few days, and/or excellent basecamp to explore the amazing forests, mountains, and beaches nearby. Also, there's lots of great foraging to be done (nettles, mushrooms, and oysters; oh my!) GPS LOCATION: When driving to the cabin, your GPS will tell you that 'your destination is on the left'. This is a lie. The cabin will be on the right. There is a metal gate that is closed with a chain but not locked. CABIN LAYOUT AND SLEEPING AMENITIES: The Cabin is just a little guy; only 16'x20'. There is a kitchen, living room, and dining room area, and the bathroom is a separate room - we call it our 'studio cabin'. We have a fold out couch for which we provide linens, pillows, and a comforter. There is also an inflatable mattress that is a tight squeeze, but can allow for four people to sleep (with a little furniture rearranging). There is a deck that is large enough for a two person tent that would also make a four person camp-out comfortable. All linens and towels are stored in the trunk and the bathroom cabinet. There is a 4' round dining room table with four chairs and a small table on the porch with two more chairs. All the cushions for the chairs are in a cabinet under the table inside. ACCESSIBILITY: Unfortunately, the cabin is not wheelchair accessible. There are 5 stairs up to the deck and the bathroom door is only 27" wide. SURROUNDING AREA: There are small trails leading away from the cabin; do not walk down them! They lead to neighboring properties and I cannot guarantee that there won't be neighbors who would be very surprised by a stranger showing up on their land! There are lots of public trails only a few minutes drive in either direction from the property :) STOLEN LAND: This property is on stolen, indigenous land. If you are Coast Salish or Makah, please get in touch with me for a discounted stay.

Saltgrass Garden

1 site · Lodging5 acres · La Conner, WA
Join us in our cabin overlooking the saltwater at the mouth of Turner Bay. This is a family property with the host on site in the main house. The cabin is really cozy as we have an HVAC system so you can stay warm in the winter months, and cool in the summer. The unique property allows for many fun outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, crabbing; and fishing (seasonal), Birding, bicycling and playing on the beach, high tide twice a day brings in all sorts of wildlife as well as the occasional message in a bottle. For small craft (kayak or canoe) boating from here the most accurate tide chart is La Conner Wash. There must be a high tide to get in or out of our little bay. https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/noaatidepredictions.html?id=9448558 We are located very close to many amenities. Some of which you need to call ahead to arrange. For instance, rock climbing, or kayak rentals. You will find the Swinomish Casino and golf course within two miles. Or spend time exploring the little shops and local entertainment in the small towns of Anacortes and La Conner. You can also take a day trip to the San Juan Islands by taking a scenic ferry ride out of Anacortes. While you're here you may meet our pup Turner, or our cats Poly and Minnie, we also have several chickens that provide us with eggs most of the time. Also on the property are your hosts Jeri and Nancy, as well as our handyman Shawn who lives in a retro build bus at the north end. Saltgrass boasts beautiful flowers, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and yes, the Bay. We try to live harmoniously with the land. We would love to share our space with you! Our property has hosted many events, such as weddings, family reunions, company picnics, a music festival, and life celebrations. If you are interested, please let us know. We are always evolving our land to share with others.

Purple Cottage Studio

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Langley, WA
The *Purple Cottage* -- was found & salvaged (recycled!)-- moved onto the back of my property in 2012. This 16 X 12' place has been my studio in the past, but has offered overflow for friends & family. Nestled in the woods and ever-so-private, the cottage has a pull-out double futon, plus a small sleeping loft and can accommodate 1 -2 nicely (we will consider 3 if you have a small child, but it would be a tight fit!... There is a very small sleeping loft in the cottage.). The cottage offers privacy in a wooded garden setting. The bathhouse, with hot shower, vanity and; toilet --all steps away (and covered) from the main cabin. The Purple Cottage sits on a shy wooded acre, with greenbelt buffers all around, maximizing the sense of privacy. We have a vintage Shasta Trailer across the driveway of the Purple Cottage, which is currently used as a music studio (and rarely as family/guest overflow), and I have my own small Artist Studio located also on the back of the property. Still, with all the little enclave of buildings, the Purple Cottage Studio retains a private feel all to itself. It is located in a quiet little neighborhood, about 6 miles from Langley & 6 miles from Freeland.. Private beach access is across the road and a 15 minute walk up the street, where you can beach comb & explore the shoreline out at our little point. We are located 6 miles from the picturesque town of Langley and equal distance from Freeland, on the south end of Whidbey. Our area is very *bike-able* and either direction will get you to town! The Purple Cottage offers a rustic retreat in a place that feels far away, but is an hour & a half from the bustling city of Seattle! There is reliable wifi available (especially now that the cottage has it's own line!) at the cottage, as well as a CD player. Beach access is a short walk away.
