Coyote Estates

10 sites · RVs8 acres · Brewster, WA
This property is a great camp for enjoying everything that Eastern Washington outdoors has to offer. The Columbia river is in the valley below which provides fishing and watersports. The property is adjacent to thousands of acres of State and federal land which are free to explore. Winter tends to bring significant snowfall which makes this a great destination for winter sports as well. The property sits on top of a mountain plateau known as Harmony Heights. The site is about a 20 minute drive to Brewster or Pateros and about 40 minutes to Lake Chelan.  This is an fairly large site and will accommodate two RV's as well as plenty of area for tent camping. There is plenty of good spots to play with dogs without any conflicts. Despite the existence of year round residences and cabins this area is still very wild so you have a chance of an encounter with any critter that is native to the forests and prairies of North Central Washington. This includes but is not limited to the occasional bull snake, rattle snake, badger, black bear, mule deer, whitetail deer, moose, coyote, wolf, mountain lion, bobcat, as well as all kinds of birds including blue birds, hawks, owls, turkey, chukar, ravens, Hungarian partridge, quail, and forest grouse. Bring a field guide you will be happy you did.

The Bunch Barn

The homestead is situated at 3800-4000 feet in elevation in the midst of the Okanogan Highlands. The historic Bunch Barn, completed in 1928, used in the 40s for loose hay in the loft and livestock on the ground floor is a central feature of the homestead. The land was ideal for settlers of the time due to abundant spring water and fertile soils. Now a guest ranch with some cattle occasionally grazing and our herd of Icelandic horses, an ideal place to enjoy the rolling beauty of the Highlands, teeming with many varieties of birds.

Dark skies make for unparalleled stargazing! Highland Glenn Ranch is located 15 miles north of Republic, WA in Ferry County. We love hosting our campers! A resource book is available to borrow with listings of local attractions, outdoor activities, shops and restaurants to help you plan activities during your stay. We are happy to help make your stay on our Ranch special! ~ If visiting Canada is of interest, a scenic 30-minute drive further north along the Kettle River takes you to the border crossing at Grand Forks, BC. If you have questions about the campsites, please let us know. If sites are booked, contact us - we may be able to create a spot just for you! We have room to grow but are doing it slowly. The day of your booking we will reach out on your ETA. First-time campers, we always meet and greet you at the gate and escort you to your spot, so please arrive as close to Check-In time as possible (3 pm). ~ Some folks may need to check in later, and that’s okay! Although the campsites are secluded, the sound from neighbors in the valley below travel during the day. Also, this is a working Ranch, so please be aware that there are sounds associated with our activities- the sheep and goats get excited at feeding time; the dogs bark while doing their jobs, sometimes during the night; the rooster announces the break of dawn. However, none of that detracts too much from the soothing music of the forest! Another Note: it is 3 miles along a dirt road to reach the Ranch; at various times of the year it is quite bumpy. And dusty! Acres of forest allow for outdoor games, fort building, and woodland exploration! ~ Take in the native flora and fauna on our self-guided "Woodland Walk". ~ The Ranch is perfect for bird watching and stargazing! ~ The Ranch borders State Land and is within 1 mile of the Colville National Forest which means endless miles of picturesque hiking and wildlife viewing! ~ The nearby Ferry County Rail Trail is a must-do. ~ Swimming, fishing, boating, and water skiing are only 15 minutes away at Curlew Lake State Park and the Kettle River. ~ One bundle of firewood, 15 gallons of potable water, and a compost toilet are included with your stay. BYOTP though. :) ~ Ranch-grown eggs and organic produce for your meals are seasonally available for purchase. WILDLIFE: There is a wide range of wildlife around the Ranch- snowshoe hare, grouse, turkey, bobcat, Canada lynx, coyote, cougar, wolf, and black bear. Please use common sense while camping! Always be aware of your surroundings. Keep garbage secure in a vehicle. - There are also ticks in the area!

Loup Loup Shady Green

4 sites · RVs25 acres · Okanogan, WA
We built our totally off grid home on these 80 acres in the early 2000s. We are surrounded on all sides by either Washington State or US Forest Service land and we have no neighbors for miles. And yet, we are only about 25 minutes from the towns in the Methow and Okanogan Valleys. Our solar powered home is built on a high bluff. We have several acres on the lower part of the property that surround a couple of old cabins (we do not rent out the cabins). We have a water system that allows us to irrigate this land from a nearby creek. This water is not potable but it is great at keeping the grass and vegetation green all through our dry summers! This is the area that we are making available to Hipcampers. At one time, this property was a sort of way station for travelers crossing the old arduous Loup Loup Pass, before the highway was built to easily connect the Okanogan to the Methow Valley. Old timers tell us there was a dance hall and a good saloon up here and we have found some evidence to back up that story.Aside from the occasional highway noise, it is very quiet here. There is virtually no outdoor lighting for miles, so stargazing is excellent on clear nights.Although we can't promise sightings, what we have seen here through the years are deer, moose, elk, black bear, bobcat, coyote, owls, eagles, hawks and all sorts of migratory birds. And of course squirrels and chipmunks. Mind your food.We look forward to sharing our sweet spot with you!Learn more about this land:Pull your fully self contained RV or trailer into our shady, green, forested, totally off grid acreage. Private, quiet, surrounded by WA State DNR land. Easy highway access from both Methow and Okanogan Valleys. 7 miles to fishing/boating at Leader Lake. 15-25 miles (20-30 minutes) to rivers, lakes, hiking trails, restaurants, galleries, bars, Farmers Markets, movies, groceries, gas, dump stations in the Methow and Okanogan Valleys.Note that there is no internet at this location and cell phone reception is spotty at best. So unplug and relax! This property is habitat to deer, moose, elk, coyote, black bear, bobcat, squirrels, chipmunks and the occasional skunk. All manner of birds, including eagle, hawk, owl, nighthawk, redwing blackbird, grey jay, robin, grossbeak, various finches, hummingbirds, etc.Your well behaved non-aggressive dog is welcome. Please keep them on a leash to protect them from the wildlife and vice versa. We ask that you pick up after your pets and take it with you, as you would in any park.Be aware that wild creatures come through this property at all times and make sure you do not leave food or garbage out where they can get into it. This is a leave no trace campsite, we appreciate that you will take everything with you.
