Great secluded area with a lovely view. Plenty of area to explore, as well as easy access to streams close to the property.

1 night at Greenbrier River Campground

This is a great little campground. RV sites are really close to the river which is gorgeous to walk along. Full Hookup - Overall great little spot. Their Cabins look cozy, too. Great wifi, clean bathhouse. Def more of a spot for a cute little camping getaway, not so much a one night stay park (all sites are back in). The tenting down by the river looks awesome. Must be so fun in the summer!

The blue basin was beautiful in person and clean. We would definitely come back again. Very family friendly. Plenty of space for kids to run around, playground, and tubes/paddle boats were provided for the water. Outhouses were clean and within good walking distance. While very spacious, I can’t say waterfront tent site 2 gave us the privacy we had hoped for, the two sites were maybe 100-200ft apart. We would actually recommend waterfront tent site 1 over waterfront site 2, especially for those with children. We say this because the fire pit was close to the slope for site 2 (which may not be safe for kids), site 1 was closer to the outhouse, directly in front of the playground, and closer to a dock. Site 1 also had more wood available and their tiki torches worked. If you’re looking for plenty of land to run around with activities and something fun for the kids, this is your spot. If you’re looking for something more private and quiet, this may not be it. Overall we hope to come back with a bigger group and rent both sites. Would definitely recommend Amber’s land. She even came to greet us which was nice.

3 nights at Possum Holler Camp- New River Gorge

We absolutely loved this spot! I can't say enough good things about it. It's beautiful, the water is just steps away. It was a bit to cold for this trip but I definitely plan on making another trip this summer! The host Matthew was so kind and helped me with any questions I had super fast which I can appreciate. The porta potty was clean. We had a blast exploring the river. We had no problems getting to the site. The directions were really easy to follow. It felt safe and we barely saw any cars and if you do it's hard to really pay any mind to it. It's a great site I recommend it!

Our site was secluded and clean! Had. A small stream with waterfall and was wonderful to sleep beside! Hosts were amazing, they brought firewood to us and let us use their mattresses pump super nice place and people!

2 nights at Starry Nights New River Gorge

Secret Spot at Starry Nights was an amazing property/camp site. The setting was so quiet, beautiful and tranquil. I woke to awesome sounds of a woodpecker on a nearby tree and also heard the awesome sounds of owls and wild turkeys. Brian is an excellent host who goes above and beyond. He provided his site(s) with a nice picnic table, fire ring (there was even wood stacked beside the fire pit when we arrived!) and a very clean and I think recently built out-house. The property is so idyllic and well-maintained. Brian was very good at communicating and providing directions. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend to anyone visiting New River Gorge/Hinton area! The stars are amazing!!! I got an awesome photo of Orion shining brightly above my tent, plus lots of other stars I cannot see back home due to light pollution. Thank you, Brian!

1 night at Possum Holler Camp- New River Gorge

Possum Holler was a lovely campsite. It was very thoughtful of the host, Matthew, to provide a picnic table with a tarp overtop. The tarp proved super helpful during our rainy stay! The port o potty, fire ring and firewood for purchase were also nice amenities! Possum Holler was quiet and peaceful and feels so much more secluded than it is! It is conveniently close to New River Bridge/Gorge attractions , but in nestled in a lovely woodland site along the babbling creek and magical rhododendron undergrowth. I bet it is spectacular when the Rhododendron flowers bloom! The creek was a relaxing sound and was crystal clear with emerald pools. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others!

2nd stay at Mulehalla. Once again I was the only one staying at the camp. Super clean. Easy in and easy out. Will definitely stay again if in the area. Highly recommend staying here.

2 nights at Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Camp

The campground is nicely situated in a valley away from public eye. We were the only ones staying at the primitive tent site for two nights. The campsites are nicely nestled within tall trees that provide plenty of wood for the fire. The campground does offer firewood for a great price. Unfortunately we had brought our own wood, but there was also plenty of wood to forage for and we ended up leaving a nice pile for the next camper. Watch for small branchs and twigs falling. The wildlife viewing was pretty awesome and the night sky was great for stargazing. Dont forget to bring a hammok for your site. Highly recommend this location. PS, very clean toilet!!!!

Weekend Trip to Mountain Magnolia Forest Farm

Such a beautiful spot! I enjoyed every minute I spent under the tall trees next to the creek. Extra bonus was the outhouse with a homemade composting toilet. I had a nice campfire one evening and spent most evenings enjoying the cold while snuggled inside a sleeping bag. It felt so remote, but there was a sweet neighbor who tooted his horn in greeting as he drove by, and the little town of Fayetteville was only a few minutes away. Super quick to get to the Endless Wall for hiking or climbing. I would definitely want to return to this HipCamp!

Great camping spot! The site are close enough to go with friends and not a far walk but far enough for privacy. Spot one is the close to the outhouse! Beautiful river front view! Will definitely rent again since it’s only 2hrs from Pittsburgh! My son also rented his own site with his friends! The host came and offered to go get some hot dogs for them as we weren't there yet with food. The firewood is $10 a bundle.

Enjoyed the stay, clean, quiet place. Vincent was very welcoming, and definitely desires for people to have a fun relaxing time. We were there in late winter/early spring so didn't get to experience everything he has to offer, but planning on another stay for sure.

Great place to camp!! Firepit and lots of sticks around to start a fire. We did hot dogs and smores by the fire it was awesome. There is an outhouse that’s tidy and just a small walk up the hill. (no tp so be sure to bring some). There is another house nearby but otherwise it’s pretty private. Easy directions and comfy area. Not far from endless wall trail which me and my boyfriend ended up hiking. Great camping trip would stay here again!!!!

Weekend Trip to Bear Run Farms

If I had one last day on earth- my dying wish would be to spend it here. I chose this site for my 51st birthday and the universe aligned with this beautiful place. What a gorgeous, serene, and breathtaking view of the pond, the windmills, the rolling hills, the fuzzy adorable cows and geese. I felt like I was in Abruzzo, Italy the woods and the breeze felt just like it! <3 Amber is so welcoming and fantastic, and the cabin is so cozy and perfect. I only counted sleeps and lost complete track of time, a perfect place to write and paint. I recommend bringing a strong battery light and a shortwave radio. I gazed among an ocean of stars, I forgot how stunning the sky can be without light pollution. Thank you Amber, for hosting a spot where I could truly rest and breathe as a solo traveler, I hope to return every year for my birthday <3 Seriously, any solo travelers considering this idyllic hideaway, you need this and deserve it.

Brooklyn Heights Campground is a fantastic place to stay! The campground is well-maintained and very clean, making for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The host was amazing—friendly, welcoming, and attentive to guests’ needs. One thing to note is that it can get quite windy, so be prepared if you’re tent camping or setting up an awning. That said, the price was very fair for the quality of the facilities and hospitality. Overall, a great spot for a relaxing getaway!

The Byrd's Nest on the River

The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :) This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out. There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :) *Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable. Audra State Park is less than 20 minutes away with lush forest trails with caves to explore. Well known hiking trails such as Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, and the Dolly Sods are all within an hour drive. Go to Nelson Rocks for the ultimate climbing experience on the Via Ferrata. We are the perfect place to come to explore the wild beauty of West Virginia without the crowds. A hidden gem!
