Glacier Getaway Bunkhouse and Lot

Come experience the high alpine! Our bunkhouse and lot are conveniently located just 1/2 mile from both the St. Mary's Glacier and the Yankee Hill ATV/OHV trailheads. The Arapaho National Forest with tons of hiking is also just 200 yds away! The lot is open and spacious. It faces south and west for maximum sun exposure. Enjoy mountain views of Grey's and Torrey's Peaks right from your lawnchair! Come have a picnic or have a campfire under the stars. Utilize our bunkhouse to crash for a couple nights, to get out of the elements after camping, to give more space for the kids, or just as a mountain hangout with your friends. The bunkhouse, has one full bed, one single bed, and a fold-down futon if needed. It has power, indoor and outdoor lights, and heat, however, no plumbing. An outhouse is provided right outside the door! Use our large lot for overnight parking of your ATV toyhaulers or RVs. A 30A standard RV plug is available (note max breaker power is at 20A) Wifi internet provided via Starlink!

Family owned 5 acre off grid property in the Arapahoe National ForestLearn more about this land:Velkommen to the Viking tent in Idaho Springs! In the mountains just off of I-70, is this cozy little bell tent hiding in the trees. You'll have furs and a toasty stove to sip your morning coffee by in the seclusion of your tent. There's also a large fire pit with seating to eat your dinner by perhaps, and maybe chat with other travelers who are staying on the property. The fire pit is between your tent and another, and for shared use with other guests. At nearly 9,000 ft elevation, we get some gusty winds and unpredictable weather, but the wood burning stove provides a very warm and toasty atmosphere inside, and a rain fly over the tent provides a bit more insulation for keeping heat in at night, and holds it down in the winds quite well. Nestled between two hills on either side, and just feet away from a creek that flows through the spring and early summer, it can feel very secluded, but you are actually just off the road and only about 10 minutes from the town of Idaho Springs. The surrounding aspens and pines are quite magical, just be sure to read our note in the tent about our property boundary. Nearby St Mary's Glacier is a very popular spot, and there are loads of hiking and biking trails nearby. As mentioned before, the tent is just off of the road so you will hear the occasional car driving by, otherwise it's very quiet. There is a composting toilet and a private "toilet tent" on site. No power, just good old fashioned wood burning stove and a plethora of battery powered candles and lanterns. You'll need 4/AWD from about October through April, as we're off of a dirt road. You're in the mountains folks, so bears and moose have been seen on occasion. Please pack out all food and garbage. Drinking water and firewood provided.

After many years here we are sharing our special place. An ideal Mountain base for your Red Rocks Concert home or just a get away. We strongly encourage you to learn more about this area if planning a visit. A tiny wilderness with a 22 foot Tepee. For one to six guests that is nestled in a pine grove near a small brook, with mountain views, and hiking trails. In a picturesque setting on seven acres, part of the old Granzella estate, that is surrounded by old growth of pine and Aspen forests and meadows at an elevation of 7400 feet. Come enjoy our cozy little oasis. Easy access, only a minute and a half from Colorado Highway 285, with a variety of different types of restaurants just a couple minutes away, and a few shopping areas in Aspen Park Shopping Center and beyond to the west on 285. There are different mountain parks such as Meyer Ranch open space park across the valley, a half mile hike from the camp site, with a 4.5 mile hiking trail to the top of the small mountain across the valley Red Rocks Amphitheater Park in Morrison is a short drive, just at the bottom of the 285 Turkey creek canyon The well known Tiny Town and it's railroad is just down the road a few miles for the kids of all ages. Golden and Denver metro are close by, (only 30 - 45 minutes to downtown Denver, and I-25, or 25-40 minutes to Evergreen and I-70), along with all the mountain communities in this area of Highway 285 and I-70 Via Evergreen. Morrison, Conifer, Decker, Pine Junction, Bailey, Grant, Guanella pass Space for up to three full size air mattress'. Which we have available for you, but please, if more than one bed is needed let us know with an advanced request. Please remember this is outdoor tent camping, It's much cooler up here at 7450ft. No fires! Fire is the areas biggest fear. Check for fire bans. ( currently all summer). No gas grills, outside smoking or outside fire sources during fire bans. Bring your sleeping needs, blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, an extra cover is good. With a request at booking, we will only provide air mattresses and cover them with clean sheets. If you are flying from out of town, we can provide sleeping bags for an additional cleaning cost of $20 per bag. We suggest a bag for under and over you. Most common cloth sleeping bags are for 40degree nights. You may want two on top, and one under you on a cold spring or fall night! Don't forget your warmer coat for the cooler evenings. Dress in layers for the fast changing Mountain airs. A large table for cards and games and some seating is provided. (Please, NO loud parties, NO extra guests.) Parking is NOT near the campsite, parking is in the driveway of our house with about a 150 foot walk from the parking to the Teepee campsite through a small glen, with natural stone and wood steps for majority of the path. A WiFi repeater is near the campsite. Ask about connecting and a power source for charging if needed. Please no high amperage power use on the provided source. (No power source for electric heaters or A/C or electric cooking or RV supply). There are cozy outside seating areas, a picnic table and other seating for watching Birds and other critters. This is a wildlife area, Please, no loose dogs! Or Children. A tiedown spot is provided for your dogs lead, do not use Teepee stakes, cords or loops. Youngsters and pets are welcome, but must be supervised in this area and cleaned up after. Do not let them damage trees, plants or dig for the moles or harass wildlife. Keep them off the nearby roadway. Wildlife will kill a dog if a cub or calf is near. Do not let them interact! The Camping site is near Highway 285 with it's traffic sounds and other roads. Mostly the traffic sounds blends and fades into white noise, but be aware there is almost a constant whoosh from the highway and Turkey Creek road, close by the site. There is no running water for the site, but we can fill a jug if needed. A hose, for Fire safety only, is coiled near the site. the valves for the fire hose is at the rear of the house if not already on, and on the post the hose is coiled on near the site. There is a private composting toilet at the campsite. Please don't use the nearest trees. Please drive safely in the canyons.

We can handle RVs around 40 feet in TOTAL LENGTH - truck and trailer. It’s a big field, but a narrow, winding and steep ramp to get in and out. If you are a nervous driver, perhaps choose another place to rest your head. Prior to your exit, open the gate. Don't hesitate while going up the driveway - if you stop on your way up, you may not get going again. We have a community fire ring with a big pile of free burn wood, though the big logs are getting few and far between, so having your own firewood is recommended. If it's windy, please skip the fire. We have well water to offer up by the house, but I wouldn’t drink it without purification… makes for a great cold outdoor shower. We have fresh eggs! The chickens free range during the day, so please keep an eye on your dogs… leash if necessary. Our gals won’t run away. Venmo code at the coop for your convenience. Little Scraggy Camp is located on 95 acres of an historic 160-acre ranch that was homesteaded by our family in the 1890’s, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This totally off-grid ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest, yet has easy access from a paved road. We offer several accommodations and glamping sites, as well as sites for moderate sized RVs, travel trailers, truck campers, vans, tents, and hammocks. Additionally, we have sites for small groups (up to 1 people) and large groups (35-200 people). NEW FOR 2024: All campers can take advantage of our Hipcamper golf discounts at Little Scraggy Disc Golf Course. Across the road from Camp is our newly constructed 18 hole course with PDGA regulation baskets, a pro shop with LSDG discs available for purchase and loaner discs available for those wanting to try out disc golf. Potable drinking water is available from onsite 270-gallon water tanks. Portable toilets are only a short walk away from sites. Friendly dogs are welcome to enjoy YOUR campsite off leash, but please clean up after your dog. If your pet has any aggressive tendencies, it must be leashed. The camp has a 4 basket disc golf putting course with loaner discs provided. We also have a cornhole toss game at both the glamping/rv camp area and tent/rv area. We are an ideal basecamp for the casual or dedicated trail enthusiast. The ranch itself has several trails and easy trail loops to explore within and just outside of the ranch’s fence lines, with direct access to the 9.5-mile Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Just 3.5 miles away is the Little Scraggy Trailhead, where you will find easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area. Additionally, we have an extensive network of hiking and horse trails that avoid conflicts with mountain bikers. You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. For a day trip, Wellington Lake is only 30 minutes away for no-wake water sports. Many people enjoy kayaking on the North Fork of the South Platte downstream from nearby Buffalo Creek. This is a working ranch where we raise and train horses and ponies. Our particular interest is in carriage driving, and we offer driving experiences upon request. Our site called Mountain Horse Camp, provides 3 individual porta-panel horse corrals. There is limited cell service.

Temperatures were delightful all the way until October 30. Wildflowers were abundant most of the season, and autumn colors were spectacular for nearly two months. Bliss Camp is now accepting reservations for our 2025 Glamping season. We will be reopening April 25, weather permitting. Due to our popularity reservations often fill up quickly. We suggest you make your reservations as much as six months in advance if you are that organized and especially if you have a group to rent the entire camp. At times there are last minute cancelations which allows for last minute openings. Big news flash: Bliss Camp is adding a 12' x 14' Glamping Wall Tent in 2025. We have it in our possession now! This is larger than our Frontier Tent. It will have an early settler / gold miner theme which is fitting since Bliss Canyon may have been the northern most gold mines in Colorado. The tent will be placed uphill in a private location in the vicinity of the Frontier Tent. It will be situated about 300' from the Frontier Tent so privacy will be maintained for all accommodations. The view of rock formations is spectacular. It will have it's own well-stocked kitchen, private hot shower and propane fire pit for those romantic moments! The open air, covered Kitchens have sinks, fresh, potable hot water, kitchenware, gas stove —pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc, BBQ with side burner, critter-resistant food safe, bear-proof trash can, and picnic table outside. We provide a convenient propane campfire for safety since our climate is dry and often windy. No candles or open flames please. There are easy trails on property along the lush stream (the original riverbed of the Middle Saint Vrain Stream), fishing or swimming in the pond (no lifeguard on duty), or challenging trails into Roosevelt National Forest from the property. (Ask Hiker Dot for guidance.) Several National Forest access points, where you can enjoy peaceful walks away from crowds, are a short drive. Bliss Canyon is a spur off of breathtaking, picturesque South Saint Vrain Canyon. Stroll on over to the South or Middle for renowned fly fishing. For climbers, there are over 50 climbs in South Saint Vrain Canyon! Dark Skies: If you like to watch the stars and meteor showers, Bliss Canyon is blessed with dark skies with little light from the plains. Bring your telescopes and explore the Universe. Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the five Crown Jewels of the National Park Service, is nearby. The closest trailhead in RMNP is 10 miles, the next trailhead at Wild Basin entrance to the park is 13 miles, and the Beaver Meadows entrance (main entrance) is 36 miles. Rocky Mountain National Park has breathtaking drives, easy strolls with interpretive signs, and 360 miles of trails. We live on 6.5 acres of stunning forested land located 1000 feet above downtown Boulder. Our property rests on a peninsula with views of the white-capped peaks to the west and the city lights to the east. The property feels far away from the bustle of city life, yet it is only an EIGHT-MINUTE drive to the heart of downtown Boulder's historic shopping district and ten minutes from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Vista Tranquila, the name given to our property by its previous owners, has trails to meander, picnic tables, horseshoes, swings hanging from the trees, a competitive-level trampoline, benches with views, and hammocks. The communal food prep area has a gas grill, a table for food prep, and a seating area. We request that guests pack out all trash. Since we do not provide stoves, pans, utensils, or cleanup facilities, please bring paper towels to wipe off your stoves, pans, dishes, and utensils. A well-maintained portable flush toilet is provided in a tall tent near the main residence. A spigot can be found with fresh well water on the back side of the main residence. We do not offer showers. However, the Boulder Recreation Center (a 10-minute drive) offers showers and other facilities for a small fee. You can enjoy a historic mining town experience with fine dining and live bluegrass/ folk music at the town of Gold Hill which is less than 20 minutes up our canyon. Kayakers, climbers, hikers, and cyclists (mountain, road, and gravel) will have an outdoor playground within a very short drive or right outside our door. World-class climbing located at Eldorado Canyon State Park is only a 25-minute drive. If you seek bigger peaks beyond Boulder Mountain Parks, the Indian Peaks Wilderness and Rocky Mountain National Park are a gorgeous 45-minute drive.

The Glamping in the Aspens Tent has a wood burning stove in it that will be available starting later season 2024. Firewood for the wood stove will be provided for you. Just outside the tent is a picnic table with BBQ grill and propane fire pit. There is a porch area with outdoor kitchen and a queen sized bed inside the tent. A comfy dog bed is also included. A composting toilet is available for use. No showers currently available (Bath House coming soon). Well behaved dogs are allowed, however, they must be on a leash or under voice command. Other friends and family helped on occasion and we were finally able to move in just before Christmas 2014. In 2019 we started with Hipcamp providing rustic campsites and our little cottage. in 2021 our son moved into the cottage which made it unavailable for campers so this past year we got another bright idea and the "Tree House" was conceived and built! Come enjoy the incredible view from this little house in the trees! Queen sized bed, (you provide the bedding), camp chef propane stove (outdoors) and tiny wood burning stove inside to take off the morning chill! We sold the sawmill to our architect who is building his own home in Wyoming. What do we do with the large awning we put over the sawmill? How about another small cabin? This is a very rustic cabin with no real amenities other than two bed platforms where you must provide your mattress and sleeping bags. The bunk has a unique ladder and the views of Pikes Peak are awesome! Enjoy the gentle humming of the alpaca's as they greet you in the mornings or whenever. Our 9 alpaca's are friendly and very curious. The boys enjoy showing their stuff whenever we have guests! Come and get acquainted. We also have two guard dogs; 3 cats and 4 kitties--soon to be leaving; one rooster, 13 chickens. The sounds of the birds, cows in the meadow, early morning visits from the local deer and antelope herds; a star studded night sky while the trees whisper you to sleep at night . Incredible views of Pikes Peak, Longs Peak and Mount Evans on a clear day. Beautiful Colorado Sunrises and Sunsets! We hope for green pastures and wildflowers this spring/summer!
