Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park adventure.
Expect to be blown away by the waterfalls at this site. They are second only to Niagara Falls in terms of water output on the east side of the Mississippi. The walk to the falls is beautiful and easy, and you won't believe you're actually surrounded by a city. You can walk out on a bridge at the base of the falls and feel the mist falling on you—pretty wonderful!
Grab your camera, because this park is full of great shots. You might even get a rainbow shot across the falls themselves. Those in your group obsessed with the musical "Hamilton" will be happy to take a selfie with Alexander himself (okay, it's a statue, but still.).
Guided tours are available, but typically only one a day during the winter (more during summertime). Download the park's app to get a self-guided walking tour. If you pay attention to the park's event schedule, you may be able to catch a terrific concert. While there's no food venue on site, you can usually find food or ice cream trucks in the immediate vicinity. Be warned: There are only a couple dozen parking spaces at the park, and the surrounding area may not feel as safe as you'd like, so arrive early or wait for a spot.
