Discover the underground marvels of Alabaster Caverns State Park.
Spelunking is a pretty cool word and an even cooler thing to do! We’re talking about exploring caves! How about the largest open-to-the-public alabaster cave in the world? Now that is something that needs to be seen. At Oklahoma’s Alabaster Caverns State Park you can take hourly guided tours into this wondrous underground to immerse yourself in rare forms of gypsum along well-lit paths. Or you could get a permit for wild caving and explore on your own terms. This area is the only gypsum cavern in the U.S., so it's pretty special. Camping is available in the park for a memorable getaway for a few nights, where you can enjoy wildlife viewing and picnics amidst the natural setting. Seriously though, spelunking!
The best time to visit Alabaster Caverns State Park is from March to September when the weather is mild and all facilities are open. Winter months can be less ideal due to cooler temperatures and limited access to certain park areas.
