Buck Acres near Lake Conroe, TX

20 sites · RVs, Tents6 acres · Montgomery, TX
The previous owner had plans to turn our property into a 42 site row by row RV Park. Once we saw the beauty of the property, we knew we had to keep it as wild and pristine as possible. On 6.5 acres the perfect number of sites was 18 keeping the large house for short-term rental (coming soon.) Sorry, we are still under construction but excited about our progress! See a short video at https://www.buckacresrv.com Buck Acres is technically not even an RV park, we just want to share our property with fellow travelers so we added some gravel roads. The only amenities are a Wi-Fi, 50/30/20A plug-ins, a porta-john and water. We use HipCamp and The Dyrt for bookings or just give us a call or text at (832) 303-9940 "Close to everything, away from it all" We're in the country but close to city amenities and beautiful Lake Conroe. It's only a few minutes from April Sound and the largest marina on Lake Conroe, 8 minutes to Wal-Mart and Kroger, yet it's peaceful and quiet on our forested property. As full-time RV nomads ourselves we know RV park rates are getting crazy, Buck Acres is our attempt to help the community. We've done everything we can to keep rates down. The only amenities we offer are shade, Wi-Fi, electricity, water, and an ADA porta john that is cleaned every week. Affordable RV parks shouldn't be sweltering parking lots where you're packed in like sardines! At Buck Acres we have 100' tall hardwoods and pines that have been trimmed up 60' for the safety of you and your rig! Buck Acres is still under construction and it is a labor of love. All proceeds go immediately back into the park. Bring your family, pets, and friends - tents and RVs welcome! Please Note: Quiet Hours are 10pm - 8am Please keep fires within designated fire rings Keep pets on leash - Clean up any pet waste Do not walk through other people’s campsites. Respect the boundaries and their privacy. Dispose of garbage in designated trash receptacles Guests are responsible for the behavior of their children and pets Guests are responsible for all damage or destruction of property and any injury to persons caused by the guest, or by their family, visitor(s), or pets. Eden Ranch is first and foremost a naturist retreat. Located on 21 private and secluded acres, we have room for both tent campers and RVers with a full bathhouse that includes a hot tub, outdoor shower, sink area and toilet facilities. There are horses, cows, potbelly pigs, rabbits, chickens, dogs and cats if your family loves animals. There is also an above ground pool for when the weather is warmer. Pitch a tent, sit by the campfire, take a hike in the woods, relax in the hammock, read a book, soak in the hot tub or do nothing at all...the choice is up to you. Nearby are antique shops, fishing on Lake Livingston or the Trinity River, hike or bike ride the Sam Houston National Forest trails or play pool or go bowling in town. The Rock Pit

10 sites · RVs, Tents100 acres · Groveton, TX
Learn more about this land:The Rock Pit is a 5 acre swimming hole located in Trinity County that has been there over 50 years. Long ago they had dug out an area on a hill for rock on the dirt roads, and hit and underground water table. There are no fish in the Rock Pit, as the pH is 4.5, so no fish will live in it. I recall swimming there as a small boy, and wanted to share my memories with others. Depth ranges all over, but the deep end is around 15 feet. I have 2 kayaks currently, but bring yours if you have them, along with your vests. There is fishing in Lake Livingston, my place is north of it. There is access to Lake Livingston via White Rock Creek. A public boat ramp in on Highway 94, just outside Trinity. Or you can go back towards Trinity, to highway 357 and go to a ramp closer to the big lake.Tall pine tress, a few Oaks, and maple trees surround the place. Bring your mosquito repellant, as you are in the country! The place is raw right now, but I am planning improvements such as a few A frame cabins, a showering area and so on. So many things to do!

The best camping near Lake Livingston State Park guide

Overview

About

Located in the Piney woods region, this scenic park offers easy access to the 82,400-acre Lake Livingston, with 2.5 miles of shoreline within the park. Besides swimming, paddling, and boating, the lake offers great fishing, particularly for white bass, along with crappie, catfish, and perch. Other attractions include hiking and biking trails, wildlife spotting, bird blinds, an observation tower, frog pond, duck pond, archery, and a wide range of ranger-led activities, including kayaking, fishing, night hikes, geocaching, and crafts workshops. A wide variety of camping options, spanning water-only tent camping sites, RV sites with full hookups, and screened shelters, will suit nearly every type of visitor.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for lake views: Many of the sites in Piney Shores Loop sit right along the shores of the lake, and offer 20-, 30-, and 50-amp hookups, fire rings, and picnic tables.
  • Best for tent campers and anglers: Only tents are allowed in the Briar Loop, which is also close to two boat ramps and a fishing pier.
  • Best for hikers and bikers: The Yaupon Loop is the furthest away from the lake but close to several trails.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Plan to make a reservation as soon as you know your dates, especially during the peak season. Campsites and screened shelters can be reserved up to five months in advance.
  2. If your plans are flexible, try to visit during the week, during non-holiday periods, or in winter for fewer crowds.
  3. If you don’t have a reservation, arrive at the park first thing in the morning to grab any unreserved sites that might be available.

When to go

Spring, summer, and fall are the peak seasons for the park. Lake swimming is especially popular in summer, when temperatures can reach 100°F. Spring and early summer are the best times to fish for crappie, while bass is best from spring through fall. Visit in spring and fall to see migrating waterfowl and shorebirds, or in winter to spot bald eagles. All campsites require both Friday and Saturday night reservations over weekends.

Know before you go

  • The park store and marina sell snacks and ice, as well as camping and fishing supplies. They’re open Wednesday through Sunday, offering watercraft rentals on weekends.
  • Bring insect repellent. Mosquitos can be an issue here, particularly after it rains.
  • Bring binoculars for birdwatching—the park sits along the Central North American Flyway and the Mississippi Flyway.
  • The Pineywoods Boardwalk Interpretive Trail, wooden fishing pier, and some picnic, screened shelters, and campsites are wheelchair-accessible.
  • Fishing licenses are not required if fishing from shore, though they are required if fishing from a boat.
