Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Antelope Island State Park adventure.
This is the perfect place to view the Great Salt Lake and see bison in the wild on a camping trip.
Accessible via a seven-mile causeway from the mainland, Antelope Island is Great Salt Lake’s largest island and a haven for millions of migratory birds who stop off here on their way to warmer locales. Antelope Island is also home to a free-roaming herd of bison and an outdoor cafe that claims to have the best buffalo burger in the state. Hiking, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, and horseback riding are popular activities on the island, and there’s even a beach if you’d like to find out for yourself if you really do float in the lake.
Antelope Island State Park is open year-round. Early spring and fall are the best times for camping, hiking, and mountain biking on the island. Biting gnats are a problem on the island from late spring and early summer so avoid these times altogether if you can. Other than a covered picnic table, the campsites offer no shade, and summer temperatures often exceed 100°F.
Discover otherworldly beauty while camping at the Bonneville Salt Flats, a unique destination for adventurers and nature lovers. This expansive, landscape of gleaming white salt crystals provides a mesmerizing backdrop for camping, stargazing, and photography.
