Bright Bear Camp is a private two-acre property bordering Tahoe National Forest. We are located at 4300' elevation down a mostly dirt road along the beautiful Bear River and Bear Valley. This is a very peaceful spot among the trees with a small meadow and creek on the property. As our name suggests, bears are occasionally in the area so keep an eye out. You may also see the spotted owls that live nearby - listen closely for their calls (https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Spotted_Owl/overview). There is much to explore in the area and more with only a short drive to the South Yuba River, Emerald Pools, Lake Spaulding, Donner Pass, Donner Lake, and Truckee.

Campsite 2 - Across the Meadow
If it's warm weather I would suggest asking about the mosquito situation if you plan to do any hanging out outside your tent, in early June it was unmanageable. The host and the bathroom/shower were great and the site felt safe and private.

Campsite 2 - Across the Meadow
I would love to give this location a great review, and as far as the host, Kelly, and the amenities go, it was wonderful. The spot is secluded and quiet, and a quick walk to a beautiful creek with a nice waterfall. Included with your stay is access to a kitchen sink with potable water, a heated shower and an enclosed bathroom. The only problem with the spot were all the mosquitoes. They were aggressive and unrelenting. Kelly lent us her Thermacell to help ward off some of the mosquitoes, which did work as long as you're right next to it, but the moment you move you were getting bit. We were both covered in mosquito bites, but otherwise we had a fantastic time, and the bites just make for a good story. I just figured for the sake of reviewing, I should provide all pertinent information for you to make your decision.

Campsite 2 - Across the Meadow
Kelley was a fantastic host and the place is beautiful. She was extremely responsive to any question or concern we had. Site #2, where we stayed, was very private and spacious. The amenities of the hot shower and bathrooms were very much appreciated. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.

Pearl the Airstream
Great experience
Kelly was great and Pearl the airstream was super cute. It was a bit buggy but other than that we had a very nice stay!

Campsite 3 - Under the Trees
Gorgeous woodsy site, felt like we were far from home, but relatively easy access to the freeway after scenic drive down a dirt road. We tent camped and there was lots of space to spread out with two kids, a large tent, table set up, and we rented a propane camp fire from Kelley to complete the experience.

Pearl the Airstream
Pearl is so charming! The airstream is immaculate and the bed is very cozy and comfortable. Kelley is a great host, welcomed us and showed us around as well as Pearl’s features. Kelley was easy to reach, friendly and helpful. We took a good walk from the property and spent time in Truckee and Nevada City. The property is beautiful, quiet and peaceful. We will be back!
