A little hard to find at first but after my pup and I got there we were very pleased. With a view of the mountains and the lake behind us, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is passing through for a night and I would definitely stay again.

Basic stay near Olancha
25 ft Class C · With kids
It is hard to find the place using the location in google maps. you need enter Whitney road and turn left on Olancha. Angela was very responsive to help us find the location. The place is very simple but was good for our needs. We just stayed one night before moving on. There is a table and a fire pit as advertised. There is noise from the road so you need to take that into consideration.

Cartago Car Camping
16 ft car
This camping spot has a nice picnic table and a very large firewood pit. Lovely sunsets and sunrises. It is close to Hwy 395 so be aware there will be highway noise, which makes this spot is better suited for car/RV camping. Lots to explore on the CDF Cartago Wildlife Area next to the camp.

We stopped for just night at the spot. The scenery and view of the lake were beautiful. We regret that we weren't able to stay longer.

I was with visitor from Europe, explaining that Hipcamp was offering nice places and we ended in this weird place... Even if it was not expensive, the rate between the price and the quality of the offer is abusive. This is a land along the road with a van which fall apart, missing walls etc, nothing except a table and bench, the same as in a campgroung... I do not recommend this place unless they do big improvement.
