Wow! I wanted to see the eclipse so I booked this spot in the hopes of clear skies. The full moon was beautiful as it rose above the horizon and the sun was setting. Unfortunately, as the eclipse began, the clouds began rolling in and eventually blocked my view of this celestial event. I fell asleep in my cozy vehicle only to wake the next morning to a beautiful and very unexpected blanket of SNOW! About 2” of snow covered my SUV and the campsite. I was the happiest camper! It made oatmeal and coffee inside my vehicle and then cozied up with the back window open and enjoyed my magical morning. Very quiet and peaceful!

What I liked about this place. It’s very remote and isolated. Views of the valley are great. What was not so good: the campsites are very basic. Just bulldozed dirt. And the toilet was sort of gross.

#3 Scenic Valley View
This site has spectacular views if you can see them. I drove up on the cloudy day and for the most part I was enveloped in misty fog. It’s beautiful and adventurous, but it’s hard on your equipment, specially if you’re caring bikes. If I knew how rough the road would be towards the end, the final 5 miles, I would not choose this site. Lucky for me the next morning was sunny and I was able to appreciate the hard earned Vista.
