We have 17 acres of mostly woods but enough open land for some fruit trees and sheep pasture.We have a 12x32-ft cabin, including porch, on 17 acres of woods. It is surrounded by wildlife, including birds of all kinds, sometimes wild turkeys and deer. We have rustic amenities, with 12 volt solar powered electricity for lights and a car style outlet, and a composting outhouse. I'm working on a lean to attached to the cabin that will have a rainwater system and wood stove, but at present we'll just provide some bottled water and a jug for washing. The cabin is located in hardwood forest, close to our gravel road, with a stream bed just down the hill. Uphill is a pasture where we have our home with 3 kids, and one friendly Aussie/German shepherd mix. We raise Desert Painted sheep and chickens. We provide bugspray in the cabin, but feel free to bring your own, as there are ticks, chiggers, and poison ivy in the woods. You can stay on the paths to avoid posion ivy, but pack long pants if you plan to try our hiking trails. Paoli is under three miles away, with several parks, restaurants, a Walmart, and other stores. Patoka Lake is a half hour away, with Patoka Lake State Park, and nearby there is the West Baden Springs Dome. Pioneer Mother's Forest in Paoli has a paved hiking trail that covers over a mile of old growth forest, and Spring Mill state Park is 20 minutes north of us.

A bucket is not a bathroom and a little cold for an outside shower in December. Cute but, not worth the money. The goat’s were adorable!!!

Great place

With kids

My son and I stayed here 1 night while waiting to camp at Spring Mill. It was as described. It was secluded yet not far from town. Seen many deer. Temps were close to 90 yet that cabin was comfortable being fully shaded. I would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Cabin!

Beautiful cabin just outside of Paoli, IN. Very comfortable bed and it's quite spacious inside. Only feedback would be to bring your own power block to charge your phone. The outlets didn't work while we stayed. But who needs to be connected anyway? ;) Highly recommend and Samuel was very responsive.

Sustainable Luxury Logging

This place is a hidden GEM! First off let’s just talk about the location of this cabin- perfect for those who want to explore French Lick, Caves and hiking trails without the expensive cost. The cabin is extremely well built and maintained. Very clean and bug free! Owners of the cabin were very thoughtful and friendly! Very knowledgeable of the local area and accommodating to our late checkin. Bathroom outhouse was very clean and easy to use. Cabin space was large and even had a heater. Also contained a couch, desk, table and chairs. I can’t say enough that this place is a steal for the location and setup. Area is beautiful. This will be our go-to place whenever we go caving again near French lick! Sam, the owner, mentioned he is still making improvements on the place- so I’m excited to see possible showers in the future! Great place with a great family running it!
