30 minutes to be dazzled by Caitlin Clark and Fever, Colts, Pacers or Indy Indians AAA Ball, 40 to the Indy 500 track in Speedway, IN or 35 to the World-famous Children's Museum. We have 6 primitive+ sites plus 1 Class A RV and 2-3 Camper sites available. Our secluded riparian area at the confluence of Sugar Creek and East Little Sugar has been operated by our family as a place of solitude, river fishing and canoeing for over 100 years*. 'Indians' camped here year-round before the Pioneers arrived. During the early-1800s, a stagecoach station on the Cincinnati-Indianapolis line was built upon the Indian village. (Yes, stagecoaches in Indiana - how even Easterners got around before railroads). During WWII our Camp provided RnR for soldiers, sailors and Army aviators stationed at the numerous bases and training facilities around Indianapolis and Central Indiana. It was our Granddad's Duty Station at age 60 and Grandma ran the canteen. 25 miles SE of Indianapolis, Crossroads of America, 90 mi from Cincy via I-74, a 100 from L'ville or 200 from Chicago via I-65/465. 4 miles off I-74 Exit 109 at Fairland Rd (Indiana Grand Casino); 8 miles from I-65 Exit 97 at Worthville Rd, Camp Restwood is readily available to travelers on I-74, I-65, I-70 or I-69. We are also closefor B1G and NCAA Playoffs & Olympic fans, Whitewater Railroad.

Creekside Camping w Fall Foliage
The view of the creek is beautiful and it was a quiet and peaceful campsite. The privacy and seclusion was a needed break from the city. Tom was an excellent host: helpful, responsive, and the included firewood onsite was a 5 star perk on a cold night. The site was clean, secluded, yet conveniently close to the interstate. We had no problem finding the place with google maps and Toms instructions. The star gazing at night was great! We saw deer, birds, and other wildlife by the water. Overall, 10/10 we look forward to returning!

“I had an incredible camping experience at this location! The place exceeded all my expectations, with every comfort thoughtfully provided. The campsite was spotless and very well-maintained, offering a pleasant and relaxing environment. The view of the river was simply breathtaking—I was truly blown away by the beauty of the place. The attention to detail was excellent, and Mr. Thomas went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect during our stay. Highly recommended!”

Restwood camp is a quiet natural gem near Indy. Our two Golden Retriever water-dogs absolutely LOVED playing in Sugar Creek. They got to run and we got to relax in peace, especially in our hammock on the edge of the creek listening to the babbling brook nearby. No sound machine was needed on this trip. The hosts also have kayaks and canoes to rent. The hosts were incredible. They provided us with firewood and even set it up in the fire pit for our first night’s campfire. They have a clean port-a-potty, access to grill if needed and they even had solar panels if you needed them.. This is “primitive” camping with no electricity or water hook-up but there is access to non-drinkable water, which we used for a solar shower and sink. With a portable generator we could easily consider our set-up as “glamping” in a natural setting and having peaceful quiet, which was so needed by this teacher’s start to summer vacation. The pictures don’t even do this place justice for the beautiful, tranquility that it offers. If you want to get back to nature but also be close to home, check this place out. A bonus is that you are only 25 minutes from a Walmart in case you need one. (Leaky air mattress 🤪)
