ANNOUNCEMENT: Thank you all for an amazing (unofficial) first season at Hostel SoHa. As anyone who has stayed has learned, we have been working tirelessly on opening up bunk rooms, showers, a kitchen, new and improved common spaces, and more. We look forward to you seeing all our incredible progress when we officially open in the spring. Guests from this passed 2024 season, please stay tuned for an invite to the grand opening celebration in May. Everyone else, we can't wait to host you as soon as the weather is warm again!
-----------------------------
Hostel SoHa is two 5,000 square foot buildings on 7 acres of private land in the process of being renovated into the first traveler's hostel in west Michigan. This summer, prior to opening our indoor accommodations, we are welcoming campers to the property to use our facilities, have a preview of the property and buildings before they are officially open, and enjoy summertime in South Haven!
We are located directly off M-43 and only a 5 minute drive to the beach; downtown South Haven; and Walmart, Aldi, and Meijer. We are also a 5 minute drive from the Kal-Haven trailhead and can help hikers and bike-packers arrange a pick up or drop off from there. The Bangor Train Station is a 12 minute drive and we can also help arrange pick up and drop off from there.
This fun and central location is best suited for adults ages 18-35, but we welcome anyone looking for a more social and unique experience. This is a adult/traveler friendly environment and is not recommended for families or individuals looking for a private getaway.

The SoHa Hostel campsite offers a welcoming atmosphere with friendly hosts and fellow campers, making it a great place for socializing. The communal fire space is a highlight for many, providing a cozy area to share stories and connect with travelers from around the world. While the location is conveniently close to South Haven's downtown and beach, some visitors noted that the proximity to a busy road detracts slightly from the natural setting. Overall, the hostel is appreciated for its clean amenities and the sense of community it fosters.
Pros: the hosts and other guests were really cool and the firepit and benches and indoor bathroom were nice
Cons: you cant tell from the pictures but its right next to a pretty busy road so didn’t feel as naturey as what we were looking for
But if youre looking for a cheap place to stay in south haven & meet some cool people this is a great option!
Site was great for car camping - just parked in the lot and slept in my car. It was great to have a nice bathroom available whenever I needed it! And the location is great, under 10min from South Haven and the beach. The host and other visitors were very kind, and there were multiple opportunities for social events - unfortunately I couldn't participate much this time because I was busy with other plans. Overall, a lot of value for such a small price!
