Camping with 2 Dogs!
A very kind host brought us cutting tools for wood to use for our stay, and we were in the perfect spot with trees to hang a tarp! A little buggy by the crick, but we were prepared with spray and candles! And a little bit noisy during the week with it being close to work sites, but it truly isn’t very disruptive. If anything, pretty interesting the kind of work that they do! My 2 dogs were off leash the whole time and it was perfect for them. Including the crick! It’s not too deep and prefect for wading and cooling off.

Hidden Gem!
I will admit we were hesitant when we first got there; you turn onto the gravel pit’s driveway, and drive all the way down, when you think “huh, should I stop here?” Just keep going, at the end you’ll find a turn around and hook to the right, nestled in the back 40, is a lovely grass spot uphill from a very clean creek(it will be on your left). There is an outhouse, we swept it out to use it and it was fine, you are a few minutes from town and everything is very accessible. There is a man named Keith who lives and works at the gravel pit, he is super nice and came to check on us! We felt extremely safe and had a great time while camping here. One thing, the creek is downhill a bit, there are stairs leading down but be aware for mobility impaired people! And if you have babies or reactive dogs, just beware there is noise! It was not terrible, but there is a race track nearby and we heard the races for hours, and then fireworks were set off (for memorial day weekend I presume), and a farm through the woods with barking hounds and screaming goats (lol the goat sounds are hilarious) and a rooster in the AM. But overall, we loved it, and will be back!

When we first arrived, I will say I was hesitant! You will see the gravel pit sign, the directions tell you to turn right onto it, follow it all the way down— when you think “should I keep going?” Yes, all the way, past the gravel and trucks, all the way at the dead end is a lovely spot along a creek! The outhouse was very sturdy, but cobwebby but just sweep it off and it was great (it also faces the woods and is distant from where you park so you can’t hear it from your camp). The creek is not deep, but mid shin deep and very clean! Perfect for dogs and puppies all sizes! There are stairs leading down, a bit steep so not super mobility-impaired people friendly, keep that in mind! Another thing to keep in mind, even though you feel in the middle of nowhere, there is a lot nearby! Town is literally five minutes away with basic stores, theres a race speedway of some sort not far and what sounds like a farm probably a few miles through the woods; its not noisy all day, and it was not bad at all, but if you have any reactive or fearful dogs: just beware! We heard dogs and goats at the farm, the race cars and then fireworks (it was memorial day weekend), but overall nothing bad! And honestly, a decent radio tuned most of it out enough to calm our four dogs during all the noises! So cute here, great spot once you get set up, clean, and theres a man named Keith who works for the HipCamps owners gravel pit, he is so friendly and helpful! 10/10 stars and hope to be back soon!

The views were amazing. The creek was perfect! Unfortunately I wouldn’t use the outhouse since the door didn’t work and it had been taken over by the insect and arachnid population. But other than that, I’d definitely be back! I was loaned a chair (🤦🏼‍♀️can’t believe I forgot mine) by someone on the property. Everyone’s generosity was amazing. Warm loving people. My dogs enjoyed every part of our stay!
