Camp Fernweh feels like your own personal Scout Camp, perched uphill amidst a mix of hardwoods and junipers! In the spirit of Swedish "Lagom" we have created the "just right balance" for a camping adventure that has ease without taking away the adventure.
If the season’s right, you'll find pockets of wild black raspberries and gooseberries waiting to be discovered. Take to winding trails that span our 5 acres, inviting leisurely exploration or spirited adventures. We currently have one 13' canvas tent.
Despite being conveniently close to your car, our campsites exude a sense of privacy and seclusion. Our property is 5 acres so your walk won't be too far to your camp, but you may want to consider the uphill and rocky trails to your campsite when packing.

Being good to Mother Earth is at the heart of what we do. We prioritize sustainability with a newly constructed outhouse featuring a composting toilet, ensuring your comfort while respecting the environment.
This Autumn you'll find that we are working on glade restoration throughout our property by thinning out eastern red cedar and native plantings! Our inspiration for Camp Fernweh is the "sleep-away scout camps" we never got to attend. Workshops, campfire book chats and simple camping are what we do best! Check out our website to see if we have an event going on during your stay. Camp Fernweh, just 15 minutes north of Springfield off Hwy 13, offers easy access to outdoor adventures! Within 5-10 minutes, you'll find Ozark Greenways for cycling and walking, Dirt 66 mountain biking, Sac River mountain biking, and hiking spots in conservation areas. Don't miss the nearby Frisco Highline Trail in Willard, MO, along with convenient grocers. Plus, Fantastic Caverns and Crystal Cave are just minutes away for added exploration! We call this site, Moonshadow. It is located a short walk up a gentle incline from your car in an Ozarks woodland. Your campsite is sheltered among shagbark hickories and the delightful scent of cedars. You will have privacy, the night sky and the rustling of the breeze and a symphony of frogs, peepers, owls and insects to lull you to sleep. We're consistently told by our campers that the site is more private than they thought it'd be! PROVIDED AT THIS SITE: a 13' canvas bell tent, 1 cot and 1 queen bed with memory foam mattress. A metal fire pit with log stump seating. A primitive table. A Coleman 2-burner camp stove with propane. Metal roasting sticks, 4 place setting enamelware plates, bowls, mugs. Large enamelware coffee percolator and 3 gallons of potable water for drinking, cooking and washing is provided at site. A newly constructed outhouse/compost toilet is provided down the trail. Solar string lights and 2 battery operated lanterns. A hatchet to split firewood--only downed wood may be collected. RECOMMENDED ITEMS TO BRING: Bedding/sleeping bag/pillow. Camp Chairs, Specialty cookware, Flashlight/headlamp, Food, Protection against ticks and mosquitos (spray, tweezers, etc) *You should come prepared for ticks and mosquitos. Paths and sites are kept tidy with mowing. Parking is clearly marked and an information board holds all the info you will need for your stay---we hope you enjoy! Lagom! Not too little, not too much
This little gem in the woods is the coziest "primitive glamping" I've ever seen! The spot is so peaceful with a breeze rustling through the woods. The amenities were just right and the extra little touches were wonderful! To a regular backpacker, this place was a glamping treat! Thank you!

This was my 2nd time visiting Blair’s site and a first time for my son and his gf. It was just as perfect as my first visit! I love that they have nearly everything you need already on site so you can throw together a quick camping trip very quickly. We basically just packed our bedding, food and personal items. We also brought our dog this time and she loved being able to be off leash and explore the trails with us a bit. I highly recommend this little getaway!

Oh my good gracious! I am a single mom of a 10-year-old boy and I Have been super scared to take him on a wilderness Camping trip all on my own. Needless to say, this was the most amazing mothering experience I've had outside of breast-feeding him, lol. He enjoyed most Every moment, Except when he had a mid camping boredom. But what did we do? We went on a hike in on the trails and found the most perfect leaves and acorns and fossils. I knew I would need to bring air dry clay and therefore I brought Two large buckets of it. We made impressions which we now brought home and our painting:-) But also, after that, as we were looking at rocks to put around the trees, we found fossils and within those fossils, we found Geodes! Let me just tell you this it was a full three hour adventure to slowly chip away rocks from the amazing fossils and geodes that we found. It was one of the most truly awesome experiences we've had together. Now, if you are a lady Here's the next best part. I was 20 days late and ended up starting the day we came to camp. Ughhhh I know. I didn't let it stop me because I know that Blair would never let that be a stopping point. Let me just tell you I've been to many of outhouses. This is a glamping version of an outside potty house. It smelled so amazing like Cedarwood chips. My son was super comfortable because he has never been in an outhouse. I myself had all the resources I needed having been truly pretty much unprepared. And on top of that it was 🔥!

Great Stay!
We had so much fun! Anything that we forgot they had thought of and had ready for us. Such as cooking utensils, dishes to eat off of, pots and pans etc. The outhouse was super clean and so was the tent. Absolutely bug free in the tent! Highly recommend camping here!! Also we loved reading the guest book. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

This campground is so special!
My partner and I loved camping here. The tent was so spacious and clean. The host had provided everything you needed to have a stress free adventure. I ended up regretting that we had not booked a longer stay!
