Pristine camping along a small creek. Flat area surrounded by mountains and cottonwoods. Hiking is along the acequia, across the creek or you can actually hike in the creek, as the water runs underground shortly past my property. There are also many places to hike west of my property along Rosa Castilla. Wild horses roam all over the BLM land and along the creek.
Desert area, 6000" elevation, so very dry and must be excectionally careful about fires. Only in provided grills . There is abundant wood that you can use for free, but put all coals out and you can use the creek water, when it is there. REMEMBER this is the desert!!
I would like to book a 3 month visit from January 1st-April 1st with free water. You need to provide your own electricity, but solar would be an excellent option as sites are on south facing, so panels would work well. I would like to trade a discount for help on the farm during this time. $5.00 a day disount, plus the water. You would be the only one booked during this time, so very quiet and private for long term winter stay!!
I had the most delightful time at the ranch. Juliet was so lovely! Wild horses wander the roads, and the nature is stunning. On owl even sat in the tree above my campsite. I would absolutely return again!
Charming little spot tucked away in Placitas. I camped at this spot during my hunt and it was perfect for what I needed.
I would highly recommend getting there before dark to set up as it can be tricky to back a trailer in.
Overall, it was worth the money and a nice place to retire after a long day of hunting.
Juliet was wonderful! She accommodated me arriving late and even came out to guide me where to park as I had arrived around 10pm. Peaceful spot by the creek and I bought fresh eggs that were so brightly colored!
Would recommend only truck or car and not travel trailers as the area down to the parking is pretty tight.
The goats cracked me up! Slept great by the creek! Was a quick layover just to rest and would use her place again as a layover! Very safe as I was traveling with just me and the dog.
Great site! Felt so safe staying there as a solo woman traveling! Juliet was a welcoming and friendly host! The bathroom situation was so nice to have right next to site and was done up well!
The place is nice ad quiet. The host is very kind and helpful with the new guests. We had a good time there.
