PLEASE NOTE: Retreat is a working farm. For biosecurity reasons, we cannot host visitors who have returned from overseas within the last 10 days. Retreat is a historic sheep station and regenerative farm on Pinchgut Creek, in Wiradjuri Country, on the southwest slopes of NSW. Strategic grazing methods are fostering biodiversity (above and below ground). Creekside revegetation has brought the waterway back to life. Birdlife abounds. Take a walk along the creek, through the regenerating woodland. Pitch your tent under shady white cedar trees, beside the Retreat Shearer's Quarters. After sunset, listen for the mopoke owls, which sometimes call from the branches of ancient yellow box trees. Nights are dark here. Marvel at a sky full of stars. Occasionally, a rare Australasian bittern, nesting in the reed beds on Pinchgut Creek, will add its booming call to the night time frog chorus. Butcher birds often sing at sunrise. The towns of Cootamundra, Temora and Junee are less than half an hour away. Guests have access to two hot showers, a laundry, toilet, and drinking water (rainwater). There is access to electricity, but no rubbish facilities. We ask that you remove all of your own rubbish, as we don't have a council rubbish pickup service. Stay cozy in the evenings around the campfire. Campfires can be made in the cooler months, by permission, and only in the designated fire circle. Tents may only be set up under the old, shady white cedar trees on the western side of the long, corrugated iron dormitory building, with a view towards the creek. The campsite is 2WD accessible and there's plenty of room for motorhomes, campervans and camper trailers. The campsite is grassy and level, but the area can get boggy in wet weather. Please check in with us about the current conditions. No pets please.PLEASE NOTE: For biosecurity reasons, we cannot host visitors who have arrived from overseas within the last 10 days. Henry Lawson country
8 m pop-up camper
Like a Henry Lawson poem about sheep stations, White Cedars will infect you with a love of the bush. This ex sheep station still has some of its old buildings standing and will transport you back in time. Come here for the vast views, the magnificent River Red Gums and the dark night sky show every evening. Experience the galvanised iron lined, but perfectly adequate facilities and the unbelievable silence. But don’t come here looking for white ceramic floor tiles.

Would love to stay here again.
3 m pop-up camper
White Cedars Campsite is a lovely location and George is a fabulous host! As others have mentioned, the hot showers (great water pressure) were a treat, flushing loo, washing machine and power. We initially booked for three nights and then stayed for another two. It was just the most peaceful and amazing break and exactly what we needed.

Was very convenient having the ablution block, and power, and the added bonus of only one group at a time, so having the place all to yourself makes it quite unique. It is a great location, not more than 30 minutes to either Cootumundra, Temora, or Junee.

We would definitely recommend a few days at White Cedars. We spent an enjoyable, peaceful Christmas in our camper trailer. The shearing quarters proved a useful protective barrier during the wild and windy days and the black night skies were something to behold. It was great to have plentiful hot water for washing up, a flushing loo and a powerful, hot shower. We didn’t venture far, but Junee and Temora and close by for supplies.

I loved my few days relaxing and sleeping in my swag at White Cedars. Very private location situated well away from the road and all the cares of the world. George was warm and welcoming. The only neighbours were the resident cows and bunnies. Spectacular view of the western sky making for perfect sunset viewing. Flushing toilet and shower with plenty of hot water. Electricity and washing machine available if required. Will definitely return again.

This was our first Hipcamp experience & it was terrific! Beautiful location, friendly & helpful host, & hot, hot showers. We loved the caring approach the owners were taking to their farming practices, & enjoyed looking at shearers’ quarters & other old buildings. Basic facilities did not disappoint. Would completely recommend!
