Indigo Eagle Sanctuary is an incredible place to experience the abundance of nature in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our Sanctuary features two main areas: Mountain Tops, or Creekside sites. Immerse yourself in beauty and adventure, with waterfalls, a rushing creek, fishing, and camping. Our creek properties include the Creekside Cabin, and Waterfall Haven (multiple camping site options, with their own areas by the creek). Guests have room to explore the mossy wonderland along Hornbuckle Creek, take a dip in a swimming hole, take an adventure and follow a rough trail (at your own risk) to another waterfall, accessed across the creek, or just kick back and relax. (Note to guests: Trail has not been maintained since last year. Go at your own risk.) Our mountaintop options include Eagle’s Nest and Songbird Campsites. These two sites provide breathtaking, long-range mountain views and epic sunsets. They are great for quick get-aways, with ease of access to main roads/highways. Indigo Eagle Sanctuary Sites are located within a few miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Reservation (museum, shops, dining) and Maggie Valley, a quaint mountain town with more shops, food, and entertainment. Nearest grocery stores are Ingles in Waynesville, or Food Lion in Cherokee. The popular Asheville is about a 50minute drive from our Sanctuary. Plenty to explore here, while being able to unplug and unwind.

Waterfall Haven Campsite 12
Beautiful landscape and the fireflies at night were amazing. A really great place to stay if you really want to disconnect! It is rough terrain getting down so I recommend a vehicle with high clearance!

Eagles Nest Top Mountain View #2
Book it!
This place is beautiful beyond words. My wife, two kids and I stayed at both Waterfall Haven and Eagle's Nest 2 and loved both. Having morning coffee looking out at the endless view was amazing. Don't hesitate to book! Seriously, if you'll be in this area, I don't think you'll really find better places to set up camp. The owner came to meet us and checked on us a couple times which was very appreciated. He was so nice, cool to talk to, knows a lot about the area. 100% would book again!

Waterfall Haven Camping (2-11)
Magical very remote rustic camping
This beautiful camping spot is tucked way down in a holler with ferns, moss, waterfall, creek. It is peaceful and quiet. Except for the creek which will lull you to sleep and drowns out the noise of other campers. Absolutely no cell service and you need AWL or four wheel to make it down. The sites are smallish and can be near one another depending on where you choose. The host is very kind. This is a real treat if you are into rustic camping. Oh and in April it is covered in Trillium!

Waterfall Haven Camping (2-11)
My friends and I had the most magical experience sleeping under the trees next to the running water. There was something special about the energy on this campsite. The people who oversee the park were very friendly and helpful.

Waterfall Haven Campsite 12
This ended up being the perfect site for our group of 7. The surroundings were beautiful with a rushing stream, huge waterfall and some trails to explore. We'd definitely camp here again! Certainly would advise to heed the recommendation of AWD/4WD, it's a few miles or so on curvy gravel back roads and about a mile of some pretty rough terrain. Steep in some areas as well. All very worth it - we'll be back!
