I primarily camp at dispersed sites but this is the one exemption as it’s simply unbeatable. I have and will continue to go back here time and time again. Great location and hosts. Camp sites are far enough apart for privacy and also has good cell service.

What a gem of a campsite! All campsites were full this weekend and we would never know it, the campsites are spaces just far enough away from each other to feel very private. We rented 2 kayaks to leisurely paddle the sound around the Cyprus trees. We caught amazing sunsets and sunrises and the stars at nights were bright and abundant. The portable toilet between the campsites was immaculately clean and well maintained. We will definitely be back!

Hands down one of the best camping experiences. We wished we could have stayed longer! We spent the night in our camper van parked beside the water. Between the sounds of the waves, an epic sunset, and a clear sky of stars, it was magic. And as many other reviews stated, the Porta Potty was pristine. We took advantage of the kayak rentals and the chopped wood Julia had on site too. Communication was easy and the directions to the campsite were clear. Offering maps of the property at the gate was a great touch! We would love to come back.

Great spot with water and electrical hookups close to town. Very accommodating host. Yes you're basically in a suburban neighborhood, but he's put up some privacy screens. I'd pick these neighbors over the majority of sketch balls I've been parked near at rv parks and campsites when I've needed a plug. Perfect spot for vans that need to charge up.

Weekend Trip to Crockett Landing

We loved our stay at Crockett Landing! What a magical place and memories for our family. We loved campsite 5, it felt like a private island with plenty of room for our 8-person tent. We enjoyed walking the trails on the property, climbing up to the tree fort to stargaze at night, and campfires with s’mores. Paul was a gracious host and has created such a special place which respects the land, but provides nice amenities for a relaxed camping adventure.

Weekend Trip to Spruill Conservation Farm

The Spruill Conservation Farm is a beautiful place along the Albemarle Sound with campsites close to the water. Campsite #1 had a huge fire pit with group seating, a picnic table and very clean portable toilet. Steps away from the site were several marked, well-maintained trails that skirted along the cypress swamp and adjacent farmland. I really loved this place and would definitely stay over again. I loved reading about the Spruill Conservation Farm history and mission on their website.

This campground was so cute! We had an amazing site that was a close enough walk to the spa and outlook, but still offered decent privacy between sites. Would definitely recommend for any couple/small family looking to get away from the city !

4 nights at Cold Spring Basecamp

Excellent example of what a true Treehouse should be. This tree house is supported by four large trees 3 of which are growing through the deck and front porch. There is one tree that is actually inside your bathroom next to the shower. The treehouse is wonderful sitting high above the road below. Beautiful sight when leaves are off the tree as you come up the driveway. Our camp host was great checked on us occasionally. Definitely respected your privacy. The Treehouse has many windows sliding door and glass porch door as well as sliding bathroom door with frosted glass top panel. My wife was a little taken aback at the lack of privacy curtains but she soon got used to the fact that it was still very private. Opening the windows with screens allows the air to circulate through the cabin. The central heat and air is great for when you want to be warm or get really cool. There is a small in-wall thermostatically controlled heater in the bathroom. You can turn it from warm to hot and it will cut itself on and off intermittently. Definitely nice when you're in the bathroom and you vent the sliding windows. Be aware there is no television however we streamed music and video streaming services on our tablet if we wanted something to listen to or watch. We have Verizon cellular service and had decent connection with no problem streaming. Again you're in a treehouse in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina unplug and enjoy.

It was so thoughtfully decorated and set up! I was so impressed. I felt like a lost boy from Peter Pan and it felt like a magical home. I was impressed by the beautifully set up hot showers and composting toilets, which requires a lot of upkeep. We stayed in one of the simpler campsites, but it was epic to explore the trails and see the other campsites that had more epic infrastructure! Such a beautiful area, such a beautiful piece of land, and such a beautiful thing to do with it. The outdoor kitchen and games box were a lovely touch. Please keep developing it Paul! I definitely want to come back.

2 nights at Lil Snowbird Farm Primitive Camping

Blueberry Hill was wonderful! Exactly as described. Beautiful views, old growth forest and loads of peaceful camping. Our dogs enjoyed roaming free and our son had such a memorable time. Will totally be back to Little Snowbird Farms! Thank you Andrew for a wonderful camping experience. 🙂

Another great stay here! We came with a group this time and rented out all 3 sites. Everyone had a wonderful time. We had plenty of space between sites 1 and 2 to set up all the tents and the fire pit area at site 1 made a wonderful group gathering area for meals and hanging out. The kids and dogos loved the little beach area at site 1 (which was much larger than when we come in the summer and fall). We had site 3 set up as a little fishing retreat/get-away and everyone loved the escape from chaos that comes w group camping trips. The port-o-potties were very clean, as always and very much appreciated! Everyone had such a great time! We can't wait for our next stay!

We are about an hour drive to lots of different hiking trails from pilot mountain, and hanging rock to the blue ridge parkway. We have 2 dogs that live here and will greet you at the gate. Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

Our Scottish Highland Cattle are majestic and fit in quite well in the NC mountainside. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.23 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend) If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it! The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close. Looking Forward: July update. We are currently working on provided an all downhill mountain bike trail from 3600 to 3150ft. This path will be double wide for the most part and wide open at first to soak in the se view. Keep pets on a leash, especially if they like to roam or have any aggressive behavior. Spacious camping lots, and great trout fishing along little snowbird creek which is on private property. Fishing privileges are actually written into property owners' deed on the purchase of land. Dark Ridge Hide Out, is a 20 acre parcel in the Blue Ridge Mountain's on the back side of the Beech Mt Ski Resort in a secluded quiet and safe community with less than a dozen homes in a one mile radius. Away from light and sound pollution. Except for an occasional passing vehicle "and often none at all from 10pm to 6am" all you will hear is the sound of the creek which runs through the lower section by the RV sites, cricket's and frogs at the nearby fish pond and only the light from the moon and star's in the clear mountain sky and fire flies. It is my home place with a tobacco barn and a big combination cattle/tobacco barn built almost entirely just by my Mom and Dad in early 1940"s. My parents and grand parents lived off of the land here and raised cash crops like cabbage, corn and tobacco, we also raised sugar cane and made molasses, we had free range chickens, as many as 50 honey bee hives and over 50 head of cattle, two or three hog's and of course a horse. There was four main fields; two for cow pasture, one meadow to grow hay "now Christmas trees" and the main one on my part where all crops were grown is where the camp sites are. I grew up helping with the crops and other farm chores, one was to go to the pasture and bring the milk cows in and do the milking every day before and after school, feed the hogs and chickens, gather the egg's, let the chickens out in the morning and close the chicken house in the evening to protect them from critters like opossums, raccoons and wildcats. This is where I grew up, my dad grew up and, near where my mother and both of my grandparents grew up. My house was built in 1905 the same year my dad was born. The campsites are on my 20 acre section section of the original 82 acres with the house and barns, the remainder went to my brother but now is out of the family. The section of Elk River with the Compression Falls "45 ft high" and Twisting Falls which is part of Pisgah National Forest is less than two miles from here, and an old logging road going around the mountain above the river for about three miles to another Falls "Elk River Falls, 65 ft high" is a great place to hike or mountain bike. You will be free to explore and hike any part of my property except the house and out building's. The pond's are full of Trout and Blue Gill fish that are like pet's they love little pieces of bread. You can feed the fish but no fishing.

We have records that date back to our 6th Great-Grandfather, Joab Fountain, who received a royal grant from the crown in 1773 for the property and then just a grist mill, blacksmith shop and old general store. The property was passed down through the Fountain family until the late 1910's. Originally a creek dammed up for the purpose of the mill it was later dug out in the late 1940's by Lee Baysden. In a long story (that can soon be found on our website/blog) the land was auctioned off in 2007. This landowner dug it out and made it the 22-acre lake that it is today. The property also features 2 smaller ponds and surrounded by woods, swamp, and farmed fields, a total of 84 acres. Divided by Duplin and Onslow County line making it very unique! Chinquapin, NC The store/office is the original detached kitchen from his homeplace, which is the white house just up the street. We still use this today and it has Mr. Lee Baysden's handwriting in the store that states opened June 1956. The pond was owned and fished until the late 1990's. A hurricane damaged the dam and land was sold sometime after. The next owner dug the pond into the lake it is today and fixed the dam. In 2020 My husband Tyler, and I decided to buy the Pond when we saw the signs up for sale in the height of the pandemic. We created JCO, Juniper Creek Outfitters and Guide Service, fall 2020 and began to restore the lake and land to better than ever! We introduced our first Glamping A-Frame cabin in 2021 and in 2024 the Floating Cabin. We host community events such as fishing tournaments, fireworks, music, movie nights, and food trucks. 10/9/2024 NOTICE: We had some damage to our road due to Hurricane Helene that made it impassable. It has since been repaired and is opened to traffic. There are still some remaining rough areas, but the road is easily passable by passenger vehicles and RV's up to 28ft. Our site was once part of a much larger farm growing tobacco and raising cattle and other farm animals. The existing tobacco barn was built in the early 1960's. The concrete pad used for RV camping was used to store silage for the cows. The non-potable water source is a mountain spring that has been used on the farm since the 1930's. While many tobacco barns in the area have been torn down for their rusted tin roofing and rustic siding, we have worked to restore the barn and preserve its history.

We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit. There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. A land of whimsical imagination, beauty and maybe a dragon or three is our shared vision for the farm. The camping options are flexible, ranging from prepared campsites along both Little and Deep creeks with composting outhouses nearby, to "Camper's Choice" options where you may hike in or drive in and create your own camping experience. Please note that since the "Camper's Choice" options allow freedom to select hike-in or drive-in options, the exact distance to nearest outhouse may vary. There are 144 acres to explore so campers can set up a secluded getaway or cluster together in a group. We are flexible and can work with you to create a camping experience that suits your needs. Learn more about this land: Honah Lee Farms has over 140 acres of woods with open fields distributed throughout. We are bordered to the south by the Flat River, to the west by Deep Creek, and to the north by Little Creek. Most of our campsites are nestled in the trees along one of these bodies of water and all campers have access to the 10 foot waterfall area where Deep Creek runs into the Flat River.
