Freedom Hill Resort is something unique. It was a state prison until the 90's and we have completed the first phase which includes 5 individual spots that can accommodate a full size 45 foot RV/Tiny Home on Wheels or bring your own tent. There is a RV, Tiny Home, and Tents, available, our bring your own. There is a private bathroom and cold water shower available for all guests. In addition, there are 2 dog parks (one for small dogs and one for larger dogs). All the buildings at the moment including the Guard Tower are only available to enter with a private tour. Spot (#3) includes probably America's smallest Tiny Home. It only fits a provided twin air mattress. If 2 guests would like to share the tiny home, we highly recommend that they like each other. There is air conditioning, lights, and a power outlet. Spot (#4) includes a RV with air conditioning and can accommodate up to 10 people.

Bring your RV with hookups

The owner was off site but he had a tenant living on the property. Both were very nice and the communication was good. They offered to let me park on any flat spot. There was electric, water and sewer available but I only used electric. The property is an old prison and very interesting. I would say the condition of the property is rough and a work in progress. It was a convenient place for me to stay based on location. I would not bring younger children to this Hipcamp because there are scrap piles of metal (from building demolition) that may be dangerous.

Bring your RV with hookups

The photos were misleading. The area wasn't very well kept. The vegetation was taking over. The green building doesn't exist anymore, just the foundation with glass everywhere. The awning picture with all the lights didn't compare. The lights were broken and the awnings were in need of remounting. The property felt abandoned and not very well maintained. The community area wasn't well kept; we didn't use it. The bathroom facility felt unsafe. We had to clean the toliet ourselves and the water pressure was weak. We couldn't use the shower. The backwindows were busted out. The post itself said bring your RV with hookups. The two RV's on site had 30 amp service but I couldn't hook up my RV in the same manner. We had a 110v cord which we made work but I was hoping to hook up my RV for a bit more comfort since the weather was hot that weekend. We managed and enjoyed ourselves regardless, making the best of it. However I think we would have enjoyed it more if we got to experience what the others had in the photos submitted.

RV at former prison

Great spot! Camper was very clean. The campus was unique. We spent Christmas under the stars this year! Host was vey responsive and nice. Excited to see this spot as it develops. Would return.
