Our off grid house is nestled in the forest on approximately 5 acres we call Jacobs Landing. It overlooks the wetland of Long Sault Creek, fed by Barbers lakes. The wee house is a pleasant 300 foot walk into the forest off of the main dirt road. There is parking on the property and a gate that can be closed for the ultimate feeling of privacy. Jacobs Landing was designed for an off-grid tiny home in the forest experience. Accommodating two adults only. We prefer no pets as we have much wildlife living in the forest and around the house. Our area, also known as the land of lakes, is gleaming with local farmers markets, great food, artisans, walking trails, many lakes and so much character. We hope you enjoy browsing through pictures and getting familiar with our Forest house. I have just completed building our forest dream and am very excited to share it. I will be working hard on the gardens this spring, with hopes to have fresh vegetables in season for our guests. We also continue to upgrade our walking trails. The forest house is an off grid set up that runs off of solar panels that charge batteries. With this system we are able to run the water pump and supply an inverter to charge devices. Most of the lights in the house are battery operated it doesn’t take much to light this place up. Our water is collected with two 1000 gallon drums supplied by natures finest, our rainfalls. With the water collected I was able to supply a kitchen sink and a shower. Our hot water on demand system works well for the shower. There is a gravity operated sink just outside of the privy. The perfect place to capture or recapture tranquility. An unplugged space for a clear mind, we take pride in being free from WI FI, hydro electricity and cell service is scarce. Signals vary in the forest depending on your server. Our forest house has a cozy, comfortable and unique ambiance. A wood stove for those chilli nights and mornings. An antique, but well functioning ice box. A cozy reading loft, cribbage board, cards and dice. Parking is off the dirt road and about 200 meters from the forest house. It’s a short and lovely walk. We use our UTV to get to and from the forest house and are more than happy to carry your belongings for your convenience. You can shut the gate for a sense of complete privacy once you’re in. Jacobs Landing lies next to Long Sault Creek and its Wetlands. We’ve made sitting spots along the marshland for birdwatching. Barbers lake is situated across from the main house (a ten minute walk). It’s a beautiful spot to spend some peaceful time on the water. A quant quiet lake with little population, no seadoos or speed boats make it a perfectly peaceful body of water with ample wildlife. Whether you enjoy fishing or just enjoying the great views and peaceful tranquil paddling you will certainly enjoy Barbers Lake. Don’t forget your camera! We have a barbeque outside and a two burner propane cook top inside. If you’re staying in the cooler seasons the woodstove works nicely for warming up soup and heating water. We offer a fire pit when there is no “fire ban”. Feel free to gather dead wood in the forest, and we offer wood for sale. When the “ban” is on, or the mosquitoes are annoying. Enjoy a lit screened Gazebo. There will be a visible notice posted in the forest about fire status. We take very much pride in what we have built, it truly is a place of tranquility. My greatest reward will be sharing this with you. I strive to be a great host. This is all new to me, I look forward to meeting you all and welcome your feedback. Available for June 2024Welcome to tranquility. A space built with love and passion for nature. The perfect surroundings for a writer, reader, artist, avid outdoorsman, or just a quiet break from the crazy world we’re living in. Experience living in peace, among song birds, and fresh clean air. If you have ever wondered what it is like to live in a tiny house, this is a perfect opportunity to try it out. Our small solar system operates everything you need to be comfortable. Enjoy breakfast in a screened gazebo, there is a fire pit for times when the burning ban is off and a propane fire in the gazebo for times that the ban is on. Walk the trails throughout the forest and rest on the bench looking over the wet lands for great bird watching. The quiet little Barbers lake is a 10 minute walk away, or a 30 second drive. The use of our canoe is included with your stay. Our water is gathered from rainfall and supplies a kitchen sink and shower in the house, we ask that shower times are kept within 5 minutes. Drinking water is also provided. I thought it neat to build a boardwalk from the house to the latrine and hand washing station. The Beautiful Town of Perth is a 25 minute drive. Enjoy fine dining and ample shopping. The area is surrounded by trails, artisans, farmers markets and lakes. Star gazing is fabulous with our black sky, enjoy it through the skylight situated over the bed. Wildlife of all kinds live in the forest, so we ask that you respect thier home. We are looking forward to meeting you, our goal is to share a unique experience living off grid in comfort. A place to rejuvenate. There is a queen size bed for two. The house is furnished with my husband’s family ice box, it is truly a characteristic piece that adds a certain Atmosphere. There will be enough ice to last two days when you arrive. Our quante country store is just minutes away. This is a wifi free zone, and I love it that way. I believe everyone should experience a wifi detox every now and again. We do however have marked locations for cell service. Some are better than others, depending on your devise and provider. There is a two way radio to reach the main house for emergency situations. I have added a fresh outside rainwater shower for a wonderful hydrotherapy experience. Don’t want to cook? I offer homemade pizza delivered to you in the forest. You will find details in the welcome pamphlet.

My girlfriend and I recently spent a weekend at this charming cabin, and it was an incredible experience. The place is truly beautiful, with every small detail carefully thought out to ensure practicality and comfort. The photos just don’t do it justice – it’s even more stunning in person. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcomed by Judy, our host, who was very sweet and hospitable. The cabin provided the perfect escape, allowing us to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse ourselves in nature. It felt like a peaceful sanctuary, offering both tranquility and all the comforts we needed. Overall, our stay was delightful, and we highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature in a beautiful, well-designed setting.
