Onyx’s Haven comprises of a 50 year old cedar log cabin situated on just under 400 acres of serene forested land that wraps around Duncan Lake in Nipissing Township. This solar power supported off grid property has allowed our family to escape from the hectic pace that fills our everyday life. A place to totally disconnect and unwind without the bother of email, social media and whatever else often pulls us away from what’s most important in our lives, making meaningful connections with those most important to us. And for times we need to work we can connect through the cabin's satellite internet while the kids play. Being truly off grid also means NO running water, instead we harvest rain water for general use, and the lake is just steps away too. You need to BRING drinking water. Our off grid log cabin features NO indoor plumbing, instead have two charming outhouses. The 1km gravel driveway does have a few protruding rocks, slow down, enjoy the fresh air and drive with care. [Absolutely NO HUNTING OR TRAPPING permitted on the property]. Firewood provided, firepit, wood burning fireplace
Toilet available
Pit toilet. One of the highlights of Onyx’s Haven is that you get a chance to return to nature when nature calls. You have a choice between the “Skyview”, the “Loo with a View”. And for the guys who need to go #1…..we prefer you find a bush or tree and go pee…..keeps the outhouses from smelling….honestly this does make a difference (and more on this below). Each outhouse offers a unique and memorable experience depending on what you’re after. If you want a spot that’s a bit closer to the cabin with a bit more privacy then “Skyview” will likely be your go to. It also features a warmly lit pathway at night time. On the other hand if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous and are after a glimpse of the lake while you’re taking care of business, “Loo with a View” might be what you need. And finally if you’re a guy just needing to go #1…..find “A bush” as this will reduce the amount of pee going down the two outhouses….less pee in the outhouse equals less odour.….(for obvious reasons suggestion applies primarily to the guys and not the girls). If currently in stock (check pail next to toilet seat), sprinkle a handful of sawdust down the outhouse hole to restore “fresh scent”.
